Despite it being a difficult build, you made it look like a gem!

Thought it was time i joined in the fun. This is MPM's Blenheim Mk I.

I rather like MPM kits, as long as you expect you will have to clean up some flash and have a few fit issues, you won't be dissapointed. The dtail in the pit is nothing to get to excited about, there is a small PE fret but that is basic.

It did not take long to get it painted dry brushed and fitted. For this dio a needed some crew. I had hoped to use some Revell figures but they were to big. So i dug out the spares box and got a couple of what i think are old Airfix figures.

There is a bit of clean up needed on the seams, and then get the wings fitted.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Oooo, cool, I'm glad this GB is still going on. Theuns, good job on the F1 AZ.

Bish, I like MPM kits as well. They won't knock your socks off, but build up to be decent kits. Your Blenheim should turn out well, looking forward to it.

I may start on a 1/72 Betty before the GB is over.

My camera has been returned, so I am resuming this build. However when I went to get it off the shelf it fell and broke into several pieces:

I will be able to fix it, but it might take a while.

Sems this GB is cursed with falling models, I while back I returned home to find the F1 box on the ground with the nose broken off, it somehow fell off the top shelf onto the tile floor :-(

Ok so I started on my entry, 1/72 Revell Thud.

Reviews on this old kit are mixed but as i started on it looks very good for its age (1988). The raised details are light and the molded details look good.

I will be using Print & Scale decals 72-096 that has plenty of options and I think I will go with "Hanoi Special". This Thud scored two Mig-17 kills.

The decal sheet has several options.

Got the 750 pounders glued up and cleaned up. I also scored along the MER and pylon line to have some separation. I also glued up two Mk.20s from the Hasegawa set to ride on the outer stations. Got the seat and pit cleaned up and ready for painting.

The tanks went together and got cleaned up also.

So this Thud will have a MER on the C/L with six 750 pounders, fuel tanks on the middle station and Mk.20s on the outer stations for a typical Nam load.

Good start on the Thud. These revell kits ,except for the raised lined, had some very nice detail. :-)

Thanks Bish. Got sidetracked by the King Tiger and the R75 BMW but finally I'm chipping away this one. Will have some more pictures soon.

Got the pit painted. The molded details are VERY tiny and on the faint side but the dry brushing still brought out the instruments.

The fuselage and wings went together really well with an excellent fit. No putty was used at all.

The seat was painted and will get some washes later to help separate the belts from the seat cushions. Looks big in the picture but man that is on tiny seat!

The tires were glued up then had flat spots sanded to mimic the weighted effect.

Thanks gents. The wife and i came down with a NASTY cold so we both have been in limbo. I have a doctors appt. in about an hour to check things out. We both got the new two part flu shot a couple of months back so hopefully it's nothing.

I grabbed a wood base and glued up some cardboard with Elmers and painted it with craft acrylics. It still needs more touchups and additional details ere and there. The small Thud has been a pleasure to build and is ready for some paint.

I have all the small parts in my plastic baby food container and all will get painted too.

Shot the SEA camo. Polished the paint out with a 2800 pad which exposed the raised panel lines.

I still have to do some touchups here and there then Future the Thud in preparation for decals followed by weathering.

Thanks Bish. Got the bombs painted and weathered up including hand painting the yellow nose rings. Got them attached to the C/L MER.

Got the gears and outboard stations glued down. The mains still need another part attached and painted.

Nice job painting those yellow rings. She looks good all loaded up.

Theuns e-mailed me yesterday. He is having issues logging onto the site. I don't know if its connected to the issues a lot of us had earlier in the week, but Eagle is also unable to log on. Hopefully they can sort it, but i guess he will have to wait until Monday for a soloution.

I think it’s related to the issue I pm’d Elizabeth  about.  Problem solved by clearing the cookies.

I have finaly finished building:

I am using BMF to cover it instead of Alclad as the place that I am living does not support toxic paint.

I will never use Print & Scale decals again. They are a PITA to work with, they curl up as they are removed from the backing paper and the carrier film is not clear but semi opaque making silvering a real problem. To remedy this issue, Future was brushed on the spot where the decal will go and immediately slid the decal over the wet Future, centering it and then brushing on more Future over the decal. This method gets rid of the silvering and makes the decals look like actual paint.

I have most of the decals on but still have more to apply. This is a very slow process due to the decals curling up and just being stubborn to apply.

The tail codes

The kill marks and misc small decals

Fuselage art

PJ, i know other people who have had bad experiances with there decals, i do have a stack of them but have only used them once. I didn't have any issues with that set, but deffinetly need to keep it in mind that they may cause problems.

I also found a couple of errors in their sheet but then just about every decal maker has them. That curling thing is a pain though.
