Indeed sone nice building yes.
Theuns
Thats some nice detail in there, good work on that IP.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
A little progress with the SB.
Instr. Panel is just a blank piece of plastic, also no other cockpit interior detail is provided by ICM, apart from seats, control stick and rudder pedals.
With the help of the reference books and a photo found in the net, an IP was designed in photoshop, resized properly and printed on paper (I had no decal film). Then the paper IP was glued on the blank plastic panel (after painting).
Also some interior detail was added with cut stripes and bits of styrene.
Canopies will be placed closed, so I just wanted the interior to look a bit busier than the from-the-box version.
Images found in the net
Blank control panel and a bit of detail added.
cockpit assembled
Printed I. Panel
Painting was done with Tamiya's RLM-02 gray.
Pilot's seat harness comes from an Eduard Luftwafe bombers PE set.
Thank you Theuns, nice to join up, even a bit late.
This is a very nice plane with interesting history.
The kit is also quite nice with good surface detail and I like the fact that it seems rather challenging.
Upon opening the box, I see very soft plastic, lots of flash, big seam lines everywhere, etc.
All parts need careful cleaning/trimming.
The following book references will be used where required.
Zvesda welcome
That's intresting how they split the intake from the fuse.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

I have a couple of progress pics. Since it turns out the kit was missing some interior and landing gear parts we are going with an in flight build. I cut a hole and mounted a brass tube that will accept the acrylic rod later.
On Ed's bench, ???
Thats looks different Zvezda. Not heard of that either.
Zvezda1980 Theuns, Bish I would like to join the bomber stream with this old Soviet warrior - Tupolev SB-2 by ICM (1:72). It has been waiting in the stash for some attention some years now.

that looks cool I’ve never seen one of those!
In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!
I assembled the cockpit area but nee to touch the paint some. I also glued the rear fuse to the wings. Tomorrow I'll start assembly of the nose. This might be a good kit to get some masks for.
Bish, you will have already seen this in your GB.
I finally got organized and sat down to start the Blenheim. After washing the parts I sprayed everything NATO Black and then RAF interior green for the interior and metal for the engines and gear struts. I also started on the fuse. Airfix split the fuse into 4 pieces, kinda like a modern twin engine jet. Not sure why they did that so I'm a little intrested on how the seam is going to fit.
Thanks guys.
PJ, ye, i guess its one of those things that can be hit and miss. As i mentioned, the results i saw on a 1/32nd Ju 88 were amazing and he used tamiya paints. But no, its not for me, i am just glad it was only on the underside.
Gt
Fujimi has some very nice details in their models. I built the old Cutlass and it’s a little jewel .
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Outstanding job as usual Bish. Regardless of the issues you had you still pulled it off. The base helps in the presentation.
Salt chipping can be a bit tricky. I used it on a 1/48 George and the results were great. The salt ate into the Tamiya dark green paint at the chip edges creating some lighter tonal changes which actually helped in getting that worn look the the later war Jap aircraft had. I wasn’t expecting that reaction but in this case it looked good.
Nice job Bish!
Theuns, Yes the Fujimi kits have fine resesed panel lines. The intake is also engineered very well also.
Thanks Theuns, and that Lanc sounds interesting, just hope you don't have any issues with decals, but if it is a new tool, hopefully they have sorted those out.
It will be the hasegawa 1/72nd Ju 188A-2. I will be doing a couple of other builds first, one for the Airfix GB and one for the Eye in the Sky, then i will get to the 188.
No worries Steve....jump on in any time LOL
I will add the Blemen for you.
Bish that look very nice ndeed, I think the effect and paintwork looks the part mate. I will stand by for your other build :-)
I have a mate for whom I will be building a 1/48 Tamiya Lanc, nit sure if it will be before the end date but it seems like a nice kit if it is the new tool one.
Time to wrap up the Blenheim. I just pushed ahead with this and 2 other builds that i wanted to get done before the end of the year. But i also had some issues painting the underside of this one, so once i sytarted painting i didn't take any more pics as i was just getting frustrated with it.
But first the pre painting pics i do have.
And after this the problems started. One of the guys at our model club used salt for chipping on an all black Ju 88 nightfighter and the results were stunning. He has an article online which i followed but it just didn't work for me. After removing the salt was i left with loads of tiny flecks which i had to almost scrub off removing a lot of the paint in the process. A zsecond attempt proved slightly more successful. But then once i put the thin coat of pain on over it i had lots of tiny spots coming through the paint. My best gues sis that because i paint in the shed and at this time of year its cold and damp, the salt has absorbed water and left residue behind and no matter how many layers of paint i add it come through. So instead of a very lightly weathered new looking aircraft that i wanted the result is a very weather beaten un pleasent patchy look. Its not as bad as it was, but certainly not what i wanted, so i won't be trying it again. Especillay on the 2 German aircraft i will be building soon which both have black undesides and this was largely a trial for.
So once i cleaned it up as best i could, i finihsed it off with AM decals and light flory wash. I had wanted another groundcrewman, but once again i have been hit with a lack of figures. I may add one later if i can get hold of any.
Thanks Theuns for the GB, i know its not been easy for you with all the connections issues you have had. I will be adding a second build soon.
Sorry Theuns, I didn't want to jump in between your conversation with 68 but I'd like to add the 1/72 Airfix Bristol Blenheim Mk.IV. I received it for Christmas and will be starting it on the 1st. RAF markings of course...duh!
Very cool ,I have always liked the look of the A-7...looks like a Bulldog ;-)
Does it have reccessed detail?
Okay, so I'll be starting up with this Fujimi A-7B in 1/72 for now.
Bish Good to see you back Theuns, glad they finally got it sorted. I get that same error issue with this thread and a couple of others. I also can't go straight to the last page and i get that error after posting as well. Very strange.

Hey Bish, it's called the "new and improved" site, can't understand why they want to fix something that's not broken. Anywho, I will have some pictures of the weathering sequence on my little Thud soon.
This particular page had a weird thing where when I posted it took me to a page that said "error occured" then had to go to page one and then to last page...strange.
Welcome back Theuns! Glad you were able to log on.
Before to get on this thread one had to go to the first page then go to the last one but now I can get on directly on the last page.
Yeay Im back ...for now
I was just starting to think that "someone" wanted to keep us "Africans" out LOL
PJ the Thud is comming on very nicely indeed.
Matt I have you on the roster, welcome
Thanx to the folks behind the cenes that got the login errors sorted
I missed my dayly FSM "fix"
I have had another message from Theuns. He has tried everything suggested and everything he can think of and he still can't get back on the site. He has even tried to re-registar but still that doesn't work. He has asked me to pass this on. He will pop in to lurk, but unless somthing changes, he is effectivly barred from the site.
I do hope the situation changes soon, but in the mean time i will run the GB on his behalf. Of course i can't edit his roster, so i will add any new entries in the same post as the completed builds.
Matt, i think Theuns is still locked out with the recent issues the site has been having. So in his place, i'll welccome you to the GB and look forwartd to seeing that A-6.
looks like I had an issue loading the page after i posted my reply, apologize for the duplicae post.
