Nice job on the Sabre Mongoose and thanks for the little history lesson.
On Ed's bench, ???
On my bench: Academy 1/35 UH-60L Black Hawk
Done with a little time to spare on this Testors 1/72 RF-4C.
After looking at these photos I might have to go back and tone down the shine once the top coat curves up a bit.
68GT After looking at these photos I might have to go back and tone down the shine once the top coat curves up a bit.
Ha! Honest truth here, I was looking at the pics and exclamed WOW LOOK AT THE SHINE ON THAT! And then i read your closer. Too funny. Hey I love it. Wouldn’t change a thing.
In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!
Thanks, going to let it sit a while and then look at it to see if change my mind.
Ed, she looks great. Airshow shiney I'd say. I really do love that scheme. It is definately something special. Well done.

On the bench:
A lot !! And I mean A LOT!!
2024 Kits on deck / in process / completed
14 / 5 / 2
Well boys and girls, this one crept up on me. Between travel for work and fun, raising a baby, injury, and illness, I have failed to complete my build. I did get to work on it for a bit tonight, but it seems I’ve done too little too late!
To all of the successful finishers, congratulations! There have been some fine looking kits completed here! Maybe I’ll be able to add something before the end of the month, as once the fuselage of my F-6B gets buttoned up things should move a little easier. One can only hope to join the varied ranks shown here.
Thanks for hosting, Silent Bob!
Looks great Ed! I really like the scheme on that one, different from what you usually see.
Finish up when you can RadMax, I know all too well how life can get in the way. I have a feeling I'm about to go through a period where I'll be unable to get to the bench myself. Hopefully it won't last too long, but you never know.
I’m late as well. ....Maybe I can try to get done this month? No guarantees though...
I did, however, do some more airbrushing today. I repainted the main fuselage. An attempt to repaint it during a past AB session hadn’t gone so well; but this time, it went ok... Hooray!
I also used Silly Putty and masking tape to mask the lower nose piece before spraying on olive drab.
Next step: More assembly! Oh!...and whatever to do about the canopy and masking it?!!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” - John 3:16-17
Thank you, SilentBob! :)
Same for me...99% done, few touches were to be done when life got in the way. To top it off we have moved just 2 weeks ago so everything is in the boxes including my modeling stuff. Hopefully we will be fully unpack in the comming weeks and I can finish the Henschel in the bew and iproved modeling cave
Some more pics:
Canopy DONE!
Update photos: Decaling is done for now. Only one of the decals that were supposed to be on it was left off (it got messed up and who knows where it went)...
It’s not done yet, though. For one, there were problems with the landing gear (front and back). I ended up taking them off, and I still have yet to re-glue them. Until the next installment!
Looks good John
Hey, folks! Another installment here!
The gear is on:
Tail struts are prepared:
I got some .025 music wire from HL and after some cutting, I have two pieces to work as tail supports on the Piper. Each of the two pieces is around 2cm long and has been painted OD.
Prop ready for assembly and any weathering I add:
The prop I had already painted Testors Flat Brown in the past, but only recently have I worked more on it. I used Testors Flat Rust to give it its “grain”. I also put clear gloss on it.
John, thats some really nice looking masking work done on the greenhouse.
Thank you, 68GT and SilentBob!
For the prop, the method I used for applying the Flat Rust was (or was like) dry-brushing. The Flat brown was the base coat. I think this is my first model piece ever with a wood grain effect.
Well, here are the photos I’ll use for my final installment in this GB. I’ve decided to forgo the display base for right now, as you can see from the pictures. (Instead, I used a piece of tile for the photo shoot base.) Thank you, silentbob, for entering me into your group build and for your patience with my late finish. Feel free to choose your favorite picture.
First:
My 1/48 Smer Piper L4 Cub:
Well, I somehow finished this one, trembling hands and all...
Nice work, castel!
Thanks, silentbob; and don’t worry ’bout the delay...
What's the saying? Better late than never?? Check out my thread in the main aircraft section, but I finally finished my F-6B!

Lots of great builds on this one, hope everyone had a great time. Happy to add my build to the finished pile!
Super nice guys! You made it across the finish line and they are cool builds.
Looks awesome Max, was definitely worth the wait! My apologies for taking so long to respond to this, I've had a lot of personal stuff come up that has kept me away from the forums and the bench. I'm hoping to get things going again soon.
