Eye in the Sky GB
Posted by silentbob33 on Thursday, July 5, 2018 1:52 PM

A few months ago I posted a feeler in the aircraft section and I finally got around to making the actual thread for the GB.  This is the first time I've hosted a GB, so be gentle with me.

This is the "Eye in the Sky" build for aircraft that filled recon/observation roles.  Everything from WWI scout planes to modern drones would fit in here.  Start date is August 1, 2018 and it will run until August 1, 2019.

OOB or as much aftermarket as you like.

Partially started kits are allowed within reason.

Crossovers are allowed.

Post plenty of pictures as you work.

I’ll check in with my Accurate Miniatures F-6B in 1/48 scale.

Glad we’ve got a year to get this done, my wife and I just assembled a 1/1 scale human, and that’s been taking a lot of my time lately.

Awesome guys, thanks! RadMax, I know what you mean. Both of my kids took me away from the bench for awhile when they were born but it was totally worth it. Congrats!

Hey SB, you got me down correctly. It's too bad I didn't wait another 2 weeks before starting on my Feisler Storch, it would have been perfect. Oh well I've got lots on my plate so it ay be a little while before starting the Hawkeye. I have Bish's GB to start after the Storch.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Roster is updated, I'm glad to have you guys along for this. I'll keep an eye out for the Storch Steve. And no rush, we've got a year to get things done.

Not too long ago picked up an early Kriegsmarine spotter plane for the stash, but with this GB it (hopefully) won't stay there too long:

Heinkel He 60C/D German Seaplane from AIM FAN MODEL.  The brand is new to me, so crossed fingers the parts build up decently.

regards,

Jack

Bob, thanks! It’s been kind of a wild ride so far. Luckily she gives us at least 4-5 hours at night most nights, and usually only wakes up once. But sometimes it can be a real struggle.

Looking forward to this GB, as I’m kind of getting back into my modeling groove after some sporadic build time after college.

Cheers Bish, you probably already checked it out via Scalemates, but there is a review of the Heinkel He 60C/D to view the parts:

http://www.ipmsdeutschland.de/FirstLook/AIM_FAN_MODEL/7201_Heinkel_He60C_D/AIM_7201_Heinkel_He60C_D.html

Looks to be nice surface detail, but the overall impression is of a limited run kit.  I notice too there are no location pins for the fuselage and wing halves.  More close inspection concerning the decals, I think the printing of the black could of have been a little crisper, particularly the seahorse badge.

regards,

Jack

Cheers jack, actually i had not got round to that yet, so will check out that review. I don't mind limited run kits, but it nice to know before hand.

Hannants has this listed and says it comes with a beaching trolley, i like the sound of that.

That's pretty good.  My son had a tough time with sleeping, but my daughter was much better about sleeping through the night.  Though now that she's three she'll come into our bed in the middle of the night because of bad dreams.  I'm hoping she gets out of that phase pretty quickly.  Bench-time was pretty rare for me when I went to college and even more rare when I decided to go to grad school while working and having my son running around.  Glad you're getting some time here and there.

It's good to see you running a GB Bob. I'd like to enter a Fujimi 1/72 Spitfire PR Mk XIX please.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Unless you have rules not allowing someone that is 0-5 or so when it comes to GB's I would like to give it a shot. I have a 1/72 Fujimi RF-4E willing and waiting.
