Looking to participate in this, but I don't know if my current kit will qualify. I was thinking it is a Softskin but when I went to Prime Portal to do some research it was in the Armor section. Here's a photo showing the box and where I'm at in construction. Looks like there will be some interesting builds in this GB, if the M113 doesn't work, I'll come back later in the year with another choice.

Thanx!

I'd like to join if it's not too late.

I've got a Meng M2A3 Bradley w/ Busk III.

I've also got a Tamiya M1A2 Sep Abrams Tusk II

I had planed to build them both this winter so I don't know which one to put in this build.

Anybody want to pick one ??

Which one gets the most votes by Sept 6 is the one I'll put up.

AA: Looks good! A lot of those Italeri kits are still really nice, not as detailed as the new stuff but certainly not bad at all.

Nice selections there guys! Col, I'd go with the Brad but both sound cool.

I assembled the suspension system on my Abrams today. I'll see about getting some photos up when I have a little more done.

As said earlier, Trumpeter makes one and it's a nice kit. If I ever get back to mine, I have pics of one painted blue and yellow like the Swedish flag.

Swedish "S" Tank as a Swedish flag; I would enjoy seeing that one...

AA, your M109 looks like it's coming together quite nicely so far. I have to admit that I really do not like working with Italeri kits, but that doesn't mean you can't build nice models out of them. You did get off to a bit of an early start, but those couple of days don't make any difference, so no harm done. Wink

Ben, I updated your entry in the roster. I'm a big fan of the S-Tank and it's unusual shape and the weird way it aims its gun. I might actually have to get one of those kits myself now...

Mike, imo the M113 does qualify as an armored vehicle. The armor is of course terrible, but it still does have armor. I added you to the roster with that kit.

Colonel, I'll put you down as TBD for now. Personally, I like the Bradley a lot more than the Abrams, but both are nice choices.

I've decided to build the 1/72 Trumpeter Challanger II.

Armor is out of my comfort zone but I give them a go on occasion.

Steve: Cool! The Challenger II is a good looking tank!

AA: Wow, even with an early start great to see you all assembled and the first paint coat on! Nice work!!!

Me, sliced into my thumb cleaning up road wheels yesterday. With the ritual blood sacrifice complete this can only turn into a good model... Devil

Looking good there, AA!

MC, I updated the roster with your entry. Nice to have some more British armor in here.

John, sure thing. Welcome aboard! What scale is that kit?

Typical Dragon kit, a zillion parts where Tamiya would do the same with about a third as many. The rear deck is made of a half-dozen parts to keep up with all the engine modifications. No complaints though- fit so far has been excellent.

The main gun is again about a half-dozen parts. Again no complaint it looks far better and was much easier to assemble than two parts that cement down the middle.

@Cliff,

Nice start on the M1. Which Dragon model number is this kit?

Thanks Bruce- kit 3556. It's supposed to represent the latest modifications to the Abrams.

I might join in with the Tamiya M1A2 #32592, the last tank I commanded as a company commander. I may try to back date it to an M1A1.

Those are Combat Identification Panels that give out a cool spot in a gunner's thermal sights so hopefully he doesn't shoot a friendly tank.

Thanks guys, I was sure they were legit items, they just look like cardboard. I was in a humorous mood and trying to keep things light. Wink and showing my COMPLETE ignorance of armor at the same time.

Modern armour may look like just large lumps of heavy metal operated by mindles idiots, but they are actually highly complicated and technical pieces of heavy metal.

Not too bad. A little more clean up needed than typical Friuls.

I would like to join this group build with an AMT/Ertl T74 Soviet MBT in 1/35 scale. I'd like to put it in Iraqi service but I'm finding it hard to find any info if it was used in Iraqi service. Anyway if not then I'll put it in Russian service. BTW does anyone know a BETTER photo share than 'photobucket'? greatly appreciated.
