Just got home and found that Sinterklaas stuck around an extra week to drop something off for me. I did have to give his horse an apple, but I am sure that it will be worth it.

Appoligies for the late update to this one. This year tossed me for a loop and I just didn't keep up like I should have. The front page is updated and all completed builds are shown.

For those who failed to complete your builds you can update them here and continue as we begin next year's builds. Please remember, these kits are gifts and please try your best to work on them, not every kit is a homerun.

I am more organized than in years past so we should have a more seamless and fun build this coming year. Provided no more major life events come along.

Looks great, GA. I can see Laurel and Hardy standing next to it. "This is another fine mess you've gotten me into." Well done. I'll update the front page.

I would love to do the SS GB again!!!  As for the doing a kit out of your comfort zone....brilliant!  I think it is a great idea.

SD, absolutely. We can make sure the gifts make it over to the other side of the pond.

Sailing_Dutchman
I had a lot of fun and will participate again this year if it is possible with me living with in Europe.

BK has worked with members in Europe, in fact I was the SS for someone over the pond one year.

Nice fix on your Bulldog SD, looks good.

As promised here are my pictures. They are a bit late since I couldn't find any blue paint for the optics and had to buy some.
During my move to Europe it got a bit damaged:

But after a bit of work and some paint I had this:

After weathering and decals it looks quite fine:

I went with a very light weathering as this was a West German tank that never saw combat and the crew would keep their vehicles very clean having nothing much else to do.

I'll leave my wish list as is, but feel free to tell my SS that they are free to go in any direction.

I'm not making a rule change, but I will encourage everyone to think about building outside of their normal area. I have build 100s of cars and dozens of planes, so this time I'm going to go all in on armor. I have'nt done anything there yet. I want to challenge myself to do something different. Everyone is free to choose what they wish, but let's live a little this year.

BK I'm up for however you do it! I like the proposed change as well. I went out of my comfort zone and received a ship. Turned into tremendous fun and I had to learn new ways to do things AND i used some techniques from planes that turned out neat.

Looks like I'm Tail End Charlie on this GB.  I still need to finish up my -109.  I see it every time I sit at the bench.  I decided to add the resin cockpit and engine which requires more elbow grease than I've been willing to give.....

Running out of time for excuses!  I best get that one finished!

I've had plenty of those builds take the life right out of me. Then I push on and suddenly its done and WOW!! I'm so pleased with the work. But, it is a struggle sometimes on those. We all need to do our best to get these gifts knocked out. If needed we allow them to continue into the new build, just so they get done.

Well, I've been so busy that I've decided to just leave it alone this year. Next year I'll make the decision well in advance so we can all decide early. For now let's just go with what we've always done.

Thanks,

I agree. The idea of grabbing a kit you might not have grabbed otherwise and making into a nice build is where all the fun lies. It makes you go somewhat outside your comfort zone. I was thinking about tweeking the rules this year. What do you guys think?

Request a kit or build outside of your normal building style. Like if you only do planes, build a tank, or sci-fi. Shake things up a bit. Put something different on the shelf. What say the rest of you?
