Nick: Excellent result. I only wish the photos were larger so I can zoom and enjoy.

You motivated me to start a Revell 1/72 Koenigstiger and attempt to paint the ambush camo.

Cheers and thank you for the inspiration

Some WIP photos from the little flakpanzer

A. Wheels assembled and painted. Camo colors were airbrushed and then the rubber part was painted with a thin brush and a water thinned Vallejo black gray.

B. Lower Hull assembled and painted with the 3 camo colors (Dark Yellow, Red Brown, Olive Green)

C. Upper Hull Assembled, small parts like tools, etc are left out for the moment and will be placed after major painting

D. Flak quad-gun base assembled

E. Tracks assembled (wheels were used as a jig) and first coat of paint + a dark wash were applied

F. ...inally, Flak guns were assembled and their barrels drilled (not perfect but hope they will fool...ehh, please the viewer's eye)

I will try to speed things up within the next days.

All comments more than welcomed, thanks for watching

I managed to steal a little time for some work on the Flakpanzer.

Wheels and tracks were assembled on the hull.

I fastened the tracks on the return rollers with a piece of thin wire, so that they could 'sit' properly (it won't be visible once upper hull is installed)

Then the tracks and wheels were masked and upper hull was connected to the lower part, with the two small screws provided by Tamiya and a little cement.

Flak gun was assembled and painted. The guns were sprayed flat black and dry brushed with Humbrol Gun Metal.

Finally the flak turret was also assembled and sanded. The final front armour plate will be placed after gun installation.

Wow!  What awesome work!!!  I'm no where near the level of you guys when it comes to armor, but what an inspiration!!!  The ambush camo is awesome.  I tried it once...didn't turn too well.  LOL!  You guys rock!

Again, I have to apologize for the lack of posts.  I have been swamped at work and been on the road a lot.  I have had some time to work on models so here are some progres pics for you.  Enjoy!

Here are the figures I have for the build.

I'm only going to post one pic of the painting.  The light on my booth really messes up the colors of things.  LOL!

There is a chance I could finish it up this weekend...but don't hold your breath.  LOL!

Well, I actually got some time to finish the Tiger I yesterday.  It is a really nice kit.  The fit was great, the instructions we pretty good, and the decals went down well.  LOL!  I used a Tamiya "sticker" set of zimmerit for her.  First time trying that out.  If you have not used it before...be warned, they are "stickers, but you need to cut them out before peeling them off!  A nice sharp blade and a metal straight edge and you can custom fit if you need to.  Even thou the set was for a Tamiya Tiger I, it worked very well with the Academy kit.  The only spot that was off a bit was the gun port on the turret.  But you can cut and move pieces of the zim around to cover that.  I also used a Tamiya figure kit (#201).  The figure that came with the kit left a lot to be desired, so the Tamiya figs worked out very well!  Thanks to Bish for helping with some of the positions the crew were in.  I could have banged and dirtied her up a bit more, but I really liked the way the Tiger looks so I didn't go over board with it.  Overall a very nice kit and I would recommend the Academy Tiger and Tamiya figure set highly.

Dutchman...thank you so much for hosting a great GB!  I have learned a lot from everyone and boosted my skills a tad with using PE for the first time.  Thank you!

Her she is.  Enjoy.

Thank you sir!  The Academy kit is really nice.  Went together very well.  I'm still working on the figure skills, but they really add so much to the build.  I'm going to look into getting more figure kits for all my other armor builds.  The Tamiya one was really nice.

A brief update on the Flakpanzer.

Hull and flak turret were painted, along with the various small tools.

Camo was airbrushed free hand.

Exhaust barrel was painted in a more weathered scheme and will be supplemented with rust and soot.

Then a thin gloss clear coat was applied, which was then left alone to dry peacefully.

Best regards to all

Hey Eagle, I really like the camo on this Wirbelwind. The drilled out 20mm flak guns really look good. Looks like its going to be another nice clean model. Nice job so far.
