Egg planes?

Just sort of curious...has there ever been an 'Eggplanes' (or 'Egg Vehicles') GB? It seems a natural.

Not that i know of, but given how popular trhey and the toon tanks are, i have thought about an egg and toon GB. Its just finding the time to fit one in.

I'm planning a silly GB for egg planes, toon tanks, etc starting April Fool's Day (April the 1st) if I can garner enough interest. I'm planning to throw up the feeler posts sometime next month.

Works for me!

I've never bought or built one...but I find myself looking at them more and more. Some neat new designs coming out all the time, like Meng's He-177 and the Type VII U-Boat.

I have wanted a deformed Me-262 for the longest time.  Not an egg plane, as they are too ovoid, but like the Meng cute series.

I did pick up a deformed twofer box F-104J kit recently.  I was considering turning one into a U-2.

Gamera-would you consider allowing/including something like the Revell Deal's Wheels?

If not, I'm sure I can find something at HL with a coupon....

Gee whiz!!! That's enough so far to run it!

Bob: Sure, anything a little off, deformed, or silly. Deal's Wheels would fit right in.

If someone wants to take a Dragon Panther and paint it up hot pink as a Pink Panther it would work too.

I was thinking April Fool's Day (April the 1st) as I said and since most are pretty simple kits running for six months.

The Pink Panther idea is cool.  If nobody else hops on it, I would.   Looks like Meng just came out with one in yellow/orange with green tracks.

I'm in, Gamera. I've already got a few of the Meng kits and have some ideas that I might give a try.

Well, that's more than enough people to get this party started! I'll probably put out some more feelers as we get closer to the start date. Just hold your horses gentlemen till April!

Still not sure what to call the thing. Silly GB, Not So Serious GB, any other suggestions? I thought about using a clown as a badge, again if anyone has a better idea I'm all ears.

I know that this is silly but you could call it "The Yoke's on You!" GB. Or "Silly is as Silly does, Sir" GB. Let me think about a badge but a clown theme one would be good.

The "Why so serious? GB" maybe?

Who are some of the manufacturers that produce these models? I think I'd like to participate.  It'd be my first GB- plenty of time to procure materials/ supplies.

Thanks.

Hey, Ted. I know that Meng and Hasegawa make the egg kits. There are tanks, planes, ships, etc. I think there are other manufacturers but can't think of them off the top of my head. The Meng kits are part of the World War Toons line. If you go to Scalemates and check for egg scale kits you'll get a whole list of kits.

Ted, Daddyman hit most of the high points. Fujimi makes a series of kits with different ships and Japanese subjects. Revell did a series of cars in the Deal's Wheels series but I think they've been out of production for years.

Great ideas for titles guys but since it's more than just egg planes I'm not sure I want to go with anything egg based- though I love 'The Yolk's on You Group Build' Big Smile

So far I really like Ted's 'Why So Serious' as a title- though do I have to use the Joker with it??? Stick out tongue

I would not, could not with a Meng.

I would not, could not... oh what the heck, let’s do it!”

If the GB title has "Why so serious?" in it, it must have the Joker... if you are serious about it.  Surprise

These are what a socially well adjusted modelers look like after being shown an egg plane:

Bish

now you are just egging people on.

built SHERMAN, TIGER 1, KV-2, T-34, TIGER 2 PZ-IIIN and PZ-38 at wash and weather stage. the fit is very tight as in priming and painting before assemby just means scrapping off the paint. oh and block the axles and holes in the hull before painting.

If the GB title has "Why so serious?" in it, it must have the Joker... if you are serious about it.

I thought the point was NOT to be serious. So instead of The Joker why not Gary Coleman from Different Strokes with that "What you talking about, Willis?" look. The "Why so serious" title would be a better fit for including all forms of caricature subjects.

Have to admit this is starting to grow on me. like the look of the Moebius Battlestar Galactica Viper Mk 2 and the ship models.
