Thanks, I had no idea about the 10th Mountain figures! 

I've got a set in my stash, guess I need to use them as the WWII figures they were intended... 

 

The 10th Mountain figures are wearing a very unique Cold Weather uniform with the Anorak, Mountain Trousers, and Shoe Pacs. It was pretty much mostly worn by 10th Mountain Division and 1st Special Service Force (The Devils Brigade) troops in combat in Italy. Possibly by the 1SSF guys during their Aleutians service as well.

The 10th Mountain guys won’t work. The Anorak that they wore is a pullover  garment and different from the zip front “fishtail” parka worn in Korea like on the Chosin Marines figure set.

But, you can also add the Dragon Iwo Jima Marine figure set as usable. At least for 1950. The Marines were still using the canvas leggings and shoes in Korea in 1950.

I like the idea Bill but figures are kinda a pain to paint. I've been doing it for decades and still aren't happy with mine. Though I guess you're going to have to learn it one day so you might as well try John. 

Dragon did a nice series of Korean War figures years and years ago. I recently picked up a few sets for cheap and would be willing to donate one or two if you'd like to try them. 

I believe Stikpusher did these a few years ago?

And I believe that any late WWII uniform figures should work as well for US troops. Plus replace the heads with Hornet East Asian ones and they work fine as ROK/South Korean troops as well.

Just me. John's quote of God says to save souls. And I really think figures are a key element to any group build. 

How about you do a figure. Or a group of them. Kind of like the ones in DC.

I was 1-AO in the draft in Vietnam. Would be medic.

I did an LT-6G a year ago. I knew a fellow here in Orlando who flew them in Korea. I used Eagle Strike decals for mine on a Monogram 1/48 T-6 kit.

It's been a gorgeous day and I've spent it surfing and didn't even get wet. Thankfully I remembered to have dinner ready when my wife returned from work. One piece of information led to another but it was worth it, chose a detal set from Carpena 48.58 T6 Texan & Mosquito USAF. I was amused to read that later on the machine guns were removed due to pilots shooting up the targets instead of marking them, don't know if that were true.

In Korea, they mostly worked as FACs, so they were mostly in NMF. But I do believe that some wore a field applied overall OD scheme.

Good question,

I know from the history at the front of the instructions, that it was a long serving aircraft considered to be an excellent trainer and that it served in Korea and later. Shall have to do some further reading to decide on markings.

My father served aboard the USS Formoe DE-509 during the Korean War from 51-53. I have a 1/350 resin kit of his ship; this may be a good time to pull it out and honor him.

 

Hogfanfs, My Uncle Jamie Crabtree also served aboard the U.S.S Formoe. He enlisted in 1949. He recently passed at age 87. John, I'd be interested in your group build. I have a lot of 1/48 scale Korean era airplanes in my stash. And maybe, if I can find decals, I can build Col. Dean Hess' ROK Mustang.

I'd like to enter with the AFV Club 1/35 M40 Gun Motor Carriage.

My father served on one during the Korean War era stateside.

The Michigan Guard was one of the first over and got chewed up during the initial invasion by the NKPR army.

Planning on it. Not sure I've I'll use the Tamiya decals that come with the kit. Haven't been happy with Tamiya decals lately. 

I cannot guarantee that I can start due to so many other projects I have going on, but I have a Monogram F-86 and this GB would give me a reason to build it.
