That is an awesome museum!   Great photo too.  I built a Mig last time, so I might go for the F-86A.  I actually have two matchbox A models and a Cutting Edge conversion kit for the Fujimi F-86.

So many cool choices!  I will definitely be building Sword's AD-4W Skyraider when it comes out.

Now if Helo34 (John) from Australia shows up, even better.

Thanks, Galatians... Maybe I can unveil them later this year. :)

So, here is a teaser badge for this group build:

There are some others; but I’m saving their unveiling for later...Big Smile

John3:16, I like it! When do you plan on “unveiling“ the other badges? Sounds fun. Snail

My father served aboard the USS Formoe DE-509 during the Korean War from 51-53. I have a 1/350 resin kit of his ship; this may be a good time to pull it out and honor him.

Well, this GB is for next year; so, there’s still several months to go yet before it starts... It will be good to have you two! Big Smile

Thank you for the recommendation, Galatians. :)

I would like to join if I have time, but I am moving to Europe and will not be able to do much building for the next 6-8 months other than finishing up my current builds.

Ahoy John,

This will be my first GB.  Looking forward to a nice Navy jet.  I'll watch the Bridges of Toko Ri  for inspiration.  Maybe even go for a Sikorsky H-5.  Looking forward to the experience.

I just might join in on this TOO!  I have an F86, and want to pick up a Mig 15 to replicate a display I saw at the Smithsonian's Udvar-Hazy museum:

Mortal as I am,I know that I am born for a day.  But when I follow at my pleasure the serried multitude of the stars in their circular course, my feet no longer touch the Earth...

Sounds like something right up my alley.  I have been on a modelling hiatus for years, and I'm just now getting back into it.  Stikpusher's Korean War GB has been my favorite.  I still have a ton of kits accumulated for that era.

I will have to re-learn how to post photos.  I have since forgotten.

Count me in.

At least for the U.S., U.K., Commonwealth forces almost anything from the end of the Second War World works. Plus some stuff that barely missed the war. The South Koreans were largly equiped out of U.S. warehouses.

For the N. Koreans and Chinese it depended on what the Soviets sold them.

The ROKs started out very lightly equipped. The US did not want them to invade the North and try to unify the country by force. Of course this is exactly what the North did in June 1950. After being well equipped by the Soviets who had no such qualms.

For the Red Chinese, in addition to what was sold or provided to them by the Soviets, or what they could produce on their own, they had large stocks of US equipment captured from Nationalist forces during the recently ended Chinese Civil War.

Thanks!!! You said what I wanted to say only you were coherent... Big Smile

Here’s a list:

If you can think of something

outside the list, then sure, you can

ask to confirm... :)

Well, despite all the other ones I'm hosting, co-hosting and on the roster of, I could possably get a build in. It depends how long it lasts.

The only Korean War era kit I have, if I recall, is a Bell 47.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Thanks Stick. John, is it possible to have some kind of a list of airplanes/land vehicles that served there? Or should we go by "do your own research and ask to confirm"?

I guess the list could be very long, but maybe some overwiev?

Like the idea. I would be in, probably with some of the MIGs or Corsairs, I think they served there.

Yes, the Mig-15 made its combat debut in Korea in late 1950. Corsairs, the -4,-5, and AU-1 versions flew from the start to the end of the war. And so did so many more types- WWII retreads, and the latest jets... even Po-2 biplanes. The ground and sea wars also saw a mix of the old and new...

Im certainly interested, but until I get settled into a new home next year I will not commit. But I do have plenty of land and air kits to choose from in my stash.

I ran a 60th Anniversary Korean War GB here from 2010 thru 2013 and we had great participation. Hopefully there will be the same amount of interest for yours. There is such great subject material choice out there.
