Secret Santa GB 2019/2020
Posted by BrandonK on Friday, October 11, 2019 10:26 AM

Yup, its getting to be close to that time of year, the SSGB!! For those who are interested in participating the rules will be the same as in past years.

1. Sign up to participate via the forums

2. PM me with a kit or scale and area of interest for kits you would like to see in you stocking.

3. Include you full name and address for shipping of your gift, in the PM only.

4. Keep the kit request cost resonable, many builders aren't made of money. Let's try to keep our requests in the $30-40 range. However, you are totally free to spend what you wish, just don't ask for $300 kits.

5. Sign up deadline is Thanksgiving Day, November 28th.

6. Timeline is Christmas day to Christmas Eve.

Due to the need to purchase and ship gifts to arrive by Christmas, NO entries will be accepted past the deadline. It just creates too many issues.

PM me with questions and lets do this and have some fun.

BK

We had my father-in-law pass in September (suddenly) and I have been quite busy dealing with that aftermath. For the life of me I can't get myself to sit down at the bench and build. I want to, but I am literally months from having touched anything and I look at the bench and the kit sitting there needing work and I walk away. I need to get my desire back or I'm gonna have slow go of it on these builds.

Nothing but the best from our family to yours on the loss.  I know how something sudden like that can take a toll, I was busy and lost (at the same time) when the wife passed.

It will come back....one day you will be looking for something to do, and sit down and pick up a project and you'll be back in the swing of it.  Don't worry about it or rush it, it'll come my friend.

It might be just sorting through and matching the entries that does it, if not, one of us will jump up and help.

BTW---love the badge, the big fella had a bad day.Surprise

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law BK. I know it can be tough to get through things like that and it can completly strip any desire to sit down and build.

Point of fact is you may or may not get your *** back anytime soon. I don't have any magical incantation or sage advice to get you back into it, only time will tell. One thing I do know is you have many friends on these here formus who will stand by and give help and encouragement when needed.

My secret though is watching something concerning the target of my intrest whether it's a ship, tank or plane. YouTube is great for that. Right now I'm going through Discovery Wings. I sure miss that show.

Back to my wish list

The exact same thing happened to me when we got the news about my daughter. You may recall the story from one of my previous Secret Santa group builds. I just didn't care about models. But eventually the bug came back naturally on its own, I think because things settled down and I had more spare time on my hands. The interest will come back when it's time.

I finally found my drive to build again. Only problem is now that this is my busy season and I can't find the time. I should be hitting the bench in a week or so when things begin to slow down. Thanks for all the kind words my friends, it really does mean alot to have all of your support.

That's great Brandon!

BTW, if you want to get rid of that garbage that appears when you put an ' in the thread title, I found going back and editing the title with the same ' seems to work. Or maybe I was just lucky.

I've been plowing through a 71 Corvette at record speed to get my groove back. And now I have an insatiable desire to do armor. ARMOR!!! I've never built armor and I've intentionally avoided it due to so many AC kits on the shelf. But, I can't help it. I MUST build armor. So, the stash grows again with armor kits now and I'll be lurking over in that forum now too. My desire to build right now is out of control. I got it back and then some. This is gonna be a busy year on my bench me thinks.

Now I just need to to you intrested in ships.

My father in law was retired Navy and he is the one that recently passed. He served on the USS Peleiu and the New Jersey. I found a 1/700 Peleiu in the UK. Kinda pricey but there were no others anywhere I looked. Looks like I'm building ships now too. Good greif! Tongue Tied
