WhooHoo this is going to be a great 1st Scifi build! Ive been through the sprues twice already and have some thoughts on paint and weathering. Gonna have to do a little research on this. Star Trek is one of my all-time favorites. I grew up watching the original cult tv series...only when i had a babysitter ;-) as the parents weren't keen on it at that age.

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

Wow! I need to say Merry Christmas to everyone, and a sincere Thank You to the person who sent the SS gift. I received the Hasagawa 1/32 F6 Hellcat! (pic to follow when able). I will put the utmost effort into putting this thing together! It may end up on my office desk....

Merry Christmas everyone! Been a tough year at the kg4kpg house but glad it's finally coming to an end and we can look for a better 2020. Of all the forums I hang out on, FineScale is the best. Great people and great discussion, without all the non-modeling fluff all the others have. I enjoy sharing my completed builds here the most.
mas usual, thanks for Brandon for another great group build. Having to wait until Christmas makes it even more fun. Thanks to my Secret Santa, right up my alley. Now let's have some building fun.

That's awesome! Any chance we're going to see that Iron Maiden 747? I keep telling myself I need to build an airliner but I always chicken out at the last minute!

Looks like we have some super sick kits this year. I have to say that this is one of the best list of kits I've seen yet. This will be a stellar year for all of us with these builds.

A special thanks to my SS for sending my a kit I didn't even know existed. A Trumpeter 1/35 Pz.Sfl.IVa DIcker Max or 10.5 cm K gepanzerte Selbstfahrlafette.

Looks like a tank destroyer, I love those. I will have to do some homework on this one. It appears to be early war, so Panzer grey, super cool. The Germans really did have some of the coolest weapons, both in power and looks. Thanks again, great choice.

My wife gave me this kit for Xmas. I have been wanting to build it for years now. I'm gonna have to watch you build it first. Very cool.

I'm super curious how this one will build out. I have a kit of the old Enterprise and I'd like to do this one too. It looks super cool.

My family opens one gift on Christmas eve. So mine to open is usually my secret Santa gift.  It's still enroute from the Noth Pole and won't be here for Christmas but here is what Mr. Kringle is bringing! Thank you Mr. K!

I'm looking forward to seeing this one come together. I have one with the cart that needs built. This should be a nice addition to your Luffewaffe collection.

Opened the gift from my Secret Santa this morning. Tearing the paper away revealed this.

I remember this being fairly well molded, so I popped the box open to check the sprues.

Well played, Secret Santa, well played. Big Smile

Opening this present revealed a 1/35 Dragon PzIV Ausf. J

Thank you, Secret Santa! I can't wait to get started!

Wow, Steve. That's a homerun on that set up. Is this the newest model ship you have in your collection? Great addition!

that B-2 is really a nice kit. You're right, it is molded well and the wing joints make up to a panel line so no filler needed. I did this one earlier in the year, check out my wip for hints and tricks...hint, the main landing gear are in more of a take-off position. Looking forward to what you do with it!

Perhaps I'm reading it wrong, but I got the impression it was a Panzer hiding in a B2 box, not the actual B2 kit. I have been wrong before though.

My SS must have had issues with the postal elves before...was wrapped in packing tape that rivals NASCAR'S bear bond for toughness.

Finally got inside to find the 1/48 Hasegawa Nakajima C6N1 Saiun "Myrt" recon aircraft.

This will be the first Japanese aircraft in the collection.

A big hearty THANK YOU Santa, and for the added " treat" you tucked in.  Didn't realize I had been THAT good.

Pic will follow when I get back to the shop and the laptop.

Sneeky, hiding a tank in a plane. Sweet.

Merry Christmas all!  Some cool builds to follow this year for sure. Apparently Santa thought I'd been a good boy this year (despite not having even started last year's gift yet) and decided to reward me.

I wanted to get the Phantom when it came out, but didn't and rationalized that decision by telling myself I already had the Fujimi kit. The Provost really wasn't on my radar, but seeing that it has day-glo orange markings, it will be a nice mate for my Airfix Vampire.  One of the cool things about this build is that sometimes you get something you never would have gotten or thought you wanted if left to your own devices. Thank you Santa!

its in the lineup. I'm finally getting the man cave finished up, so I can get to more large kits. Finishing that A380, and the 1/20 Cessna 172 that will be done soon, have definitely motivated me for big builds.

That's a nice score. You have your hands full now with 3 in the pipeline. I'm looking forward to the Phantom, gotta love those Phantoms.

Some great kits and gifts here.

BK.. If that is like most trumpy armor, you've got your hands full.

MC.. Nice haul especially the new AB.

I'm going to have to go to school on paint colors on mine.  Not up on the various Japanese colors and who makes what.

Seeet kits Buddy.

GH, carrier based recon plane, Tamiya makes IJN Grey, IJN Green in acrylics that  I really like and always use for my IJN aircraft.

BK, I believe it was you that asked if that was my newest ship? I assume you mean the most modern. No, that would be the JSDF Atago in 1/350. A modern Japanese DD modeled after our Arleigh Burke. The OHP class was commissioned starting in 1977, the USN has non on active duty anymore.

Argh, I overslept and am now stumbling around on my sister's Apple laptop (I'm a Windows guy).

Okay, so Merry Christmas everyone!  I hope everyone got cool swag, and from the photos, it looks like that is the case.  So without further ado, here is my SS gift:

Thanks Secret Santa!  This will be my first muscle car and I really like the front end.  But what I especially like is, well I'll have Woody help out:

The "Mad Max" butterfly scoop really sets off the car IMHO.

I haven't wached any of the "Fast & Furious" movies, but I like the look of this car, so it goes into the build queue for 2020!

Now the inevitable question about aftermarket hood pins, PE badgework and keyholes...

“Ya ya ya, unicorn papoi!”
