Steampunk, dieselpunk, cyberpunk, biopunk, atompunk, stonepunk, do you feel lucky…punk! Retrofuturistic, neofuturistic, postapocalyptic you get the idea. Think Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, Metropolis, HYDRA, the Borg etc., etc.

Anything goes with just one rule, no building out of the box, at least without adding something to it. You must add something to it. Not just a machinegun gun or something small, I mean let yourself go. Grab a battleship turret and add it to a car along with armor and a cattle guard. Put tracks on a locomotive, helo rotor on a sailing ship with Ion engines. Don’t just put German markings on an At-At, put wings on it as well. If you want Space 1899, cool. The Arizona as a pre-Dreadnaught, we'd love to see it.
This group build is for those who use their imagination.
No rivet counters here, no wrong camo, no wrong hatch placement, the antenna will always be in the right place, nothing will be wrong.
If you have a box of parts and ever asked “I wonder what I can use this for?” or “I can probably use this somewhere” well, here’s the answer to those questions. An exhaust pipe can be a steam pipe, an F-16 intake can be a smokestack. This is the chance to clean out that old parts box and have fun.
The start is Jan 1 2020, end date Dec 31 2021.
So come along, our imagination is always working. We’re modelers, that’s what we do.

Open to anything steampunk, not just vehicles and such?

The past couple of years I've gotten interested in machining, and I've been considering making some steam punk things just because I like the look of brass and steel with an attitude.

I've got a lot of crazy ideas but some may not exactly qualify as a "model", prop might be a better word.

Definately interested but will need to put on my thinking cap for this. No not my historian's thinking cap, bring me my mad scientist's thinking cap!

Aaron,

Anything goes as long as it's out of your imagination. It doesn't matter what material it's made of, what era it may be in, it doesn't even need to adhear to the laws of physics.

I put you down. Holler at me if that's not correct.

Yep, leave me on the list, I'll come up with something. Don't know what but I've got a few weeks to ponder that.

I just bought a small horizontal mill that came with a ton of gear cutters, so I'm thinking there will be gears involved. The mill was built in 1944 and has a bit of a steam punk vibe to it all on its own.

OK boys, one more week and it's a go.

I got this today to do some conversion. A space battleship, similar to the space battleship Yamato. I received a small kit of the Yamato and it gave me the idea.

Steve,

I just got in a set of 1/48 Reskit F-111 exhaust cans, which put the G-Factor ones out to pasture.  However, I think the G-Factor set has a seriously Battleship Yamato look, especially since there is a bullet shaped casting block in the middle.  Not sure if they are big enough to propell a Revell Iowa Class BB across the cosmos, but if you are interested, I’ll measure them, and if you want them I’ll post the set to you.

Sure G, thanks! I was trying to come up with something to power this beast but haven't come up with anything yet. I'd be glad to take a look.

Gam, You'll come up with something. I was thinking sailing ship, car with tank tracks ets then I received the Yamato and bang, it came to me.

Steve,

Here is the exhaust outlet with "Space Battleship Yamato" center cone:

There is no contest between the Reskit and G-Factor products.  But if you can use the G-Factor parts, I'd be glad to send them over.  PM me and I'll mail them out ASAP!

Thanks for sending those out G, you're the man.

OK guys, At the stroke of midnight, wherever you are, your free to shread some plastic.....for the GB of course.

Again, I have a great vision, my construction will be so so and the end result, well lets just say it probably won't be anything like I planed.

OK boys, I started on the space battleship MO.

I cleared the molded AA guns and added half of an old partially started Ohio class boomer hull to the bottom for the engine and engineering spaces to the bottom of the shipd hull. I have all kinds of stuff to add to this thing.

G, no worries, I have lots to do the the deck yet before I can even attach it to the hull. Thank you my friend for sending them out. I am courious of their diameter and hoping the half of the Ohio hull will be big enough, if not, more scratching Whistling

Steve,

Package sent this am!  I think the exhaust petal assembly was around 1” diameter, maybe less (7/8”).

Thanks G,

Here is the progress so far. I'm having fun adding stuff and coming up with ideas.

The bulbous sides (1/32 fdrop tanks) will have antenna attached and I will bw adding 1/72 Harrier wings to the aft hull. I removed most of the deck fittings, filled and sanded the deck, but it still needs some work, especially where the deck attached to the hull.

Thanks Gam, what do ya think now?

G, ready for the engine cans, somehow.

This is just too fun, but I need to lay it asside for a few days and get back on other projects like my Secret Santa gift. Wink
