Piers: That looks great! And you want the preshading to be a little messy. I used a Sharpie felt tip marker once to do the panel lines and it's just too perfect. It looks much better and more organic if it's a little bit sloppy.

The main issue with the Spit is the area where the wings plug into the fuselage at the back. And this one I had some issues with the top of the cowling and wing seams, I've built the same kit before and didn't have the same issues then so it's probably my fault there. I did have the same issues with the rear part of the wing assembly though.

I do have a Kiwi wings 1/48 Boomerang which is a short run kit which will also be a lot of work one day.

Picked it up at an IPMS swap-n-sell a few years ago. I haven't built a vacuform before, but what the hell, it's only plastic....... I've heard good things about the Montex kit though. Incidentally, I'm glad I'm not the only one with trouble spraying straight lines!! I've been watching your Vengance build with interest, as I have one in the stash somewhere.

Nah mate. Keep the vegemite thin, although it's good with cheese. Don't ya hate it when you've filled, sanded and sanded and then the primer says you have to do more??????

Sorry about that fella's, I stuffed up the photo loading process. (Bodes well for the actual model dosen't it???) Anyway, you blokes have been doing some good work and I'm way behind, but I thought I would share the complexities of this little beastie with you. This is my 1/32 vucuform Boomerang. Lots of resin extras with a number of them duplicated in white metal. The instructions are brief and lack much detail on actual location and the parts are not identified in any way. I have been doing loads of research and have located stacks of photos to help with the placement, but some parts will have to be scratchbuilt. It's a first class jigsaw!I will be starting with the re-scribing  of panel lines this weekend and then next week I'm taking a 4 hour trip to Melbourne to buy some plastic card and other essentials. So hopefully I will have some construction photos for you all in the comming weeks.

Incidentaly Gamera, did you put the Vegemite on thick, or did you use just a scrape? Most Aussies just scrape it on, but some put it on thick. Using it thickly is not too everbody's taste. But stick with it mate, it's good stuff!

Well to be diplomatic I like 'The Road Warrior' movies better than the Vegemite.

I've tried it on a cracker and buttered toast so far. And it is tangy and salty as advertised. And just a little odd. I'm sure I could get used to it but yes it is an aquired taste. 

I took some evening courses years ago and a nice Korean/American lady brought some kimchee one evening. The smell of the stuff drove me away. But years later I tried some and I love the stuff now. I'm hoping the Vegemite will go the same way.

PS: Couple of years ago I read an article of a guy who used Vegemite as a masking medium. Think I'll still use what I've been using on the Spit though.

As for priming, don't use the vegemite it will block the airbrush....

The Spit is together and I'm priming and sanding trying to take care of various flaws. I ordered some motivation and it all came in Friday. I'm getting in an Aussie state of mind... 

Sadly no sharkmouth or tigermouth on this one...

The Vengeance has the wings and tail on and all the panel lines scribed. Still plenty of work to go on this old plastic.

I started again on the Spit this week.

I'd finished up the cockpit:

I cemented the fusilege together but am still sanding and trying to get everything straight. Will post more photos when I have a little more to show.

Think I'm going to go with the grey nurse shark at the top of the decal sheet:

Been a busy week but hoping for time this weekend.  Have ordered very small heat-shrink tubing to try for spark plugs - what could possibly go wrong?

The Buffalo looks good Patrick, the level of detail on the engine looks great. Sounds like there is a still a bit of work there, looking forward to it.

I have put together the Vengeance's cockpit. It is acceptable but limited by its age. I have also scribed the panel lines into the fuselage.

Some small work on ejector pin mark removals and prep on the engine which is a mix of resin and styrene.  Have drilled out the spark plug holes on the engine and (if I understand correctly) the bit on the second row one in from the prop needs eighteen lengths of wire adding :)

Sorry, again I'm off to a late start here. I've got a tank I really want to get done and the base seems to be taking forever plus the Bf-109 for Bish. I'm trying to concentrate on getting them done instead of spreading myself too thinly.

I have kicked off the Vengeance, it's what you might expect from a 50 year old kit. I did start with the idea of just building it as it was, but I just couldn't let it go like that.

Started with the cockpit, and seeing if an Aires Twin Cyclone will fit in the cowling. The answer - not even close... So I will have to see what I can recover from the kit engine thing.

So after a bit playing around with styrene bits, got the cockpit looking a little better.
