Oh man Brandon, that sucks!  I've had mysterious back pains that last a week or two, from time to time, and it makes putting my pants on an ordeal!  OK that was TMI.  Sorry.  But yeah, you really need that backbone system working to go about everyday stuff.

I gotta get back on my ekranoplan...

I have two degenerated disc's as well. If you have lower back issues try the Serola belt. I am in no way affiliated with them but their product is the best thing i have found to immediately relieve pain and get me healed quickly naturally. It will get you more bench time I promise.

I will pick a build by this weekend and am excited to get back on the bench! Its sad how much good stuff I have that has been sitting boxed up.

Rest those backs fellas.

My disc in my back went out again. It's been a few years since this happened. I'm off the bench for awhile. I can't hardly walk let alone go up and down stairs and sit at my bench. I have some new goodies for the Kingfisher and the two kits on my bench are nearing completion, so getting it rocking as soon as I can move. I'll keep up with the posts as best I can. Keep building.

BK

OUCH! I have two degenerated discs in my lower back and know how that feels like. I know my limitations to avoid bad episodes. Wish you a speedy recovery.

After a 2 year hiatus I am almost done setting up the bench in its new spot. This is my favorite subject/GB. Some really nice builds going on here to give me inspiration.. I will dig in the stash let you know what I plan to build shortly. Glad to see Brandon still hosting and some other friendly faces around here!

Hey Brandon - put me down for another.  I'm doing this Rufe, a crossover with Gameras Japanese GB.  Kinda into floaty things lately

Sure thing. I'll add it to the roster.

Keavdog, super result with the H 19, for what sounded like a bit of work to get on top of.

Helo H34 the Seamaster looks fantastic - a great result especially considering everything I have heard about Mach 2 kits.

PJ, the Seamew scheme looks great, thanks for showing your mottling process. Looking forward to seeing this done.

I have now got into my kit, same company as the Seamew but looks a bit different. The Curtis Racer is the 1925 Schneider Cup winner, but I will be doing it as the Curtis Fighter from the anime Porco Rosso

Not many pieces, but plenty of fit issues to resolve.

You can't go wrong with a bi-plane on floats. I think these older simpler kits really put ones skills to the test. Looking forward to watching this.

The decals are on but they neglected to add the white background to the nose art.

Using a 10/0 brush and a VERY steady hand I filled in between the red outlines. I also added a Flory wash.

Nice save and great suggestion. I always put those small windows in with Gorilla clear 5 min epoxy. They will never come out after that and it's perfectly clear. Keep it coming along.

Thank you, Brandon.

I have made some progress over the past couple of weeks. First coat of primer went on this morning and as you can see the transition to the resin tail is good. I will give the primer 24-hours to dry before a light sanding with 3000-grit sanding sponge.

Thank you, Brandon, and John, for your comments.

While preparing to primer the hull this morning I ran into a problem. One of the hull windows popped out when I applied the Eduard mask. I had no way to re-glue it except through a hatch that I cut in the bottom of the tail section. Please see photographs below.

I ordered some 0.060" thick Evergreen polystyrene sheet to patch the hole. I will glue strips of polystyrene to the inside of the hull to act as glue tabs and fill the exterior seams of the patch with putty.

Notice how effective the black Dymo label stock worked to protect the hull while cutting the opening. Jack Geratic in Canada gave me that suggestion and it worked perfect. I created a line where I wanted the opening using a Tamiya engraving tool and then cut the 1.5mm thick plastic hull with a Dremel bit. It will be easy to patch and the Evergreen material is slightly thicker, so I can sand it flush to the bottom of the hull.

Very nice surgery.  You are a 'plastic' surgeon ;)

Started decals on this nightmare build.  Looking forward to getting her off the bench!

Nice finish Helo on your Seamaster and I am impressed PJ with your paint work, that tricolor is something I have never tried. Waikong the Walrus is very interesting, I always like a model with detailed interior. I made some progress on my own project over the last few weeks and even though it's an old kit from 1997 with minimal interior the plastic quality is very good. The Blecher Bits resin tail conversion is almost completed, just need to glue on the horizontal stabilizers and putty the seams and I should be ready for primer.

Harold

Given that shape of the tail at the join, its amazing how well you managed to get it to fit and blend. Looks like it came that way. Simply amazing really.

Thanks BK. All the paint was done with the Sotar freehand. That little ab is worth a ton of gold at how well it performs.

Finally got the tri colors on.

Tri-color is looking great. The mottling and fading is also spot on. This may be an odd bird, but it is looking really good.

Looking good!  Can't wait to see the finshed product.  She is a funky looking bird.

Thanks. Yes that is one odd looking plane indeed.
Just a side note about the paint used, the dark sea blue is MCW enamel and sprays like Model Master but more durable. The white is Model Master.
The intermediate blue color had to be mixed using Testors enamels in the small bottle that are a good 40 years old and worked as if new. On the other hand, the bottle of Model Master intermediate blue that was barely 3 years old was like gum.  Testors poor quality control is very evident.
