Bill I'm in, i love this GB! I've saved a couple boxes back this year just for this. Ok swing for the fences, I'm going to do Tamiya's F-14A in 1/32 scale!

...NOTTTTT, fooled ya

let's go reasonable with Hasegawa's 1/72 F-2A JASDF to start with.

going to be a couple weeks till i can start but it looks like lots of cool builds to watch until then!

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

Ok, I'm done. 2.5 Hrs to spare. This one was more involved than I thought and deciding to fully paint the kit rather than go with the colored plastic it comes in was good call. I am very happy with it. I have never done any Bandai kits, let along a figure. Next one I do will be slower and I'll pose it up as I build it and fill the joints so it looks just that much better. All in all it's a great kit, fit was perfect throughout with no flash anywhere.

Painted with Vallejo and Alclad.

Thanks for hosting this, Bill. Lewbud, this one's for you.

Well guys, I got about an hour into my Hellcat build when I went upstairs to make lunch. I noticed something on the floor that looked familia. When I picked it up and looked, it was one of the upper wing sections of my Hellcat that had been mauled by my dog. I have no idea how it got on the floor so she could get it. I will look through my stash and see if I have anything I can build in its place.

Yikes, thats a costly horror story. Finding a replacement won't be easy. Good luck.

Sorry guys, I got called away yesterday and just got back.  No way I can finish this one on time.  Will be back next weekend.

Love those Bandai kits.  They work out of the box but really come to life with a little paint.  Great job !

I started Friday afternoon.

Coming together.  The instructions said to paint the exhaust rust colored, but nothing I found shows that.  It was painted black later.

Fuselage together

Gloss black for decals

Most of the stuff underneath

The clear flat wasn't quite dry yet, so the nose looks a little shiny.

Done with an hour to spare.

Joining some of the rest of the collection.

Nice job SteveCB-I hate painting black but you've done a great job on your Nighthawk.

Thanks guys.  Brandon, the figure is great.  I've never been brave enough to try a figure.

So I thought I had lots of time after work tonight to finish this up so I ran an errand after work and stopped at the post office to mail something and my battery died.  I knew it was getting time for a new one and the recent cold weather did it in.

Anyway, I also broke one of the tracks and the idler wheel on one side after finally getting home and starting on it.  Managed to get things reapaired, needs a few touch ups but I'm calling it done with a few minutes to spare.  Generally it was a fun build though.

My start up photo

Thanks for hosting this again Bill.  I had a lot of fun.

dwsrazor-nice job-I can't begin to think about attempting anything so small-and you did a great job to add.

I finally got started a few minutes ago.  I almost feel guilty about my choice (key word here is 'almost') but I needed a quick easy win to start.  Hope to add a few more before the end of the month.  Anyway, here is the start of the AFV Berlin Wall:

Just tried to post some pics but it looks like things have changed at Imgur....sigh....

Edit-ok...not as bad as I expected....case of brain fade...

Anyway, here are the starting pics-

Now time to primer....

Tamiya spray grey primer followed by Vallejo grey & black and white pre-shading.  Once this dries I'll find a Vallejo light grey in the rack and spray everything.  Hopfully follow later with a coat of Future and then tomorrow decal & weather.

Wow!  Looks like some nice work coming in!

Brandon - love the completed Mandalorian!  Can't believe you got built and painted it in less than 48 hrs!  The metal finish on the armor looks fantastic!

Steve - that's a sweeet looking F-117 and it looks great on the shelf!

Razor - great job getting the M12 in just under the wire, that's a fine looking 155MM GMC!

Doug - oooh sorry to hear about the Hellcat mishap.  When those things happen to me I totally lose interest in modeling for a few days....OK, maybe a few weeks! Stick out tongue  I hope you'll stay with us and enter another kit!

Bob - a Berlin Wall kit?  I had no idea there was such a thing!  When I first saw the pic I thought that you had to paint your own graffiti, but then I saw the decals!  Does it come with figures?

I've been out of town since T-Day so I was unable to get started on the AMD35.  This coming weekend is when I plan to unleash the Madness!

Hey Ernest-yes, a Berlin Wall.  Not sure where I saw it first but I knew it would be one of those kits to try to restart building things-easy assembly and an opportunity to play with shading & weathering...in a short time frame. Doesn't come with figures but I would image someone with a 3D printer could come up with something....

Got the Future on last night and the decals & SolveSet this am-just need to let it dry, another coat of Future and then some weathering-oils maybe?

Added some random spray paint to try to give it a more realistic look-not sure if I'm happy with it but I can always redo later.  Futured and then added a Vallejo Matt Varnish to try to dull it a bit.  Tomorrow morning I'll add oil dot filtering/oil wash and/or dry brushing to finish up....at least that's the plan....

Thanks dwsrazor-it is a fun project-of course, I can overthink it-soooo many options on weathering but yes, it has been a good starter for me.

Just finished reading 'The Spy Who Came in From the Cold'-good read and an inspiration for this build.

Having said that, this one is done:

Bill-again, thank you for running this GB-I look forward to this one every year.

Hopefully I'll dig something out for another go.

Cheers

So I went into the stash room and a kit was on the floor (???).

Special Hobby 1/72 Yak 17. I think Dave (dwsrazor) may have given this to me for Secret Santa some years ago.

I'm in! Start Saturday morning.
