edog- I was going through your "short" list and checking it with what little refrence I have of F1s. My question is you said that the turret vision slits need to be filled, but from what I saw only the slit on the left side needs to be filled. Now I think I only have 1 or 2 pic of the right side and I think they 're both of the same tank, so I look to you to confirm or deny what I've seen. ( sorry, anyone else feel free to chime in too.)

I'm planing on painting in panzer gray, what color should I use. I normally use MM or Tamiya.

thanks for the help.

RAF, you are correct about the vision slits. Sorry about all the confusion, but most of the diagrams I have show the vision slit filled, while all the photos show that the right one is not filled. Good job picking up my mistake!!Black Eye [B)]

As far as a color, Tamiya makes German Gray. As I understand it, Tamiya has very accurate colors.

Here is a quick preview of how I am painting mine. The base is MM medium gray, but it is a little too blue for my taste. If I had it to do over again I would go with light ghost gray for the base. Then I post shaded with Tamiya German Grey and ran streaks up and down till I achieved the desired effect. I really think this can give a lot of depth to an otherwise boring paint job.

Good luck with your build and keep us updated!Big Smile [:D]

WOW! As soon as my new airbrush comes, I am going to try some of that, Post shadeing or preshadeing. It really gives it a nice effect. Good loooking build edog.

edog thanks for the confimation and the help with the colors. I'm a long way off from paint but I needed to check my colors and see if I need to get to the LHS.

Your paint job looks great gives me somthing to shoot for.

Mike great use of PE, really enhances your kit.

Eric, I also like the streaky look. Good idea.

RAF,
yes, you are right. The part numbers are outlined on the instruction sheet with a mockup of the spurs. I found it annoying myself.

Renarts and Edog your builds are looking very nice, can't wait to see them finished..
I've been making steady progres on my Flakpanzer 1V,still no pics yet,no excuses iv'e just been a little slack lately....
Anyway since i started modeling again at the begining of the year i've tried to experiment with new techniqes pulled from the pages of FSM magazine and the Panzer 1V flakpanzer will be painted useing the weathering with salt technique from a previous issue of FSM(Hope it works).............J.S

very nice!!Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup] I cant wait to see the rest of the pics. The decals are very well done, and I like how you have "dusted" the lower hull. One suggestion, it looks like the dust did not get behind the road wheels. I always try to put the road wheels and tracks on last, so the entire lower hull gets the same treatment. Like I said though... great job!!!Big Smile [:D]

ok, since rebelreenactor has finished first, he has decided that the patch with the solid silhouette will bee the group badge. Here it is just in case you guys forgot:

Thanks edog. I am always finding new ways to do things by trial and error. The dust is pastes and tamiya buff highly diluted. I get the rest of theose pics.

Hey rebel...not too shabby at all! A little rough around the edges, but pretty darn good overall.

Enjoy your modeling...

Greetings fellow build-alongers...

Well, my Dragon Ausf G is coming along slowly, but surely! Big Smile [:D]

I've just finished putting the base colors on everything and figured I'd post a few more in-progress photos for your perusal.

Overall:

A close-up of the left fender tools:

The right fender tools:

And a close-up of the decals, which I thought went down pretty nicely:

Now it's time for washes, weathering, paint chipping, pastels, etc...

Just to let you know, the look I'm going for with this OTB build is of a tank painted at the factory, with nice clean tools attached, then sent to the front and not repainted by the field unit at all. It will have between 4 and 7 months worth of weathering added to this factory finish and at least a minimal amount of battle damage and general wear-and-tear added as well.

Hope you enjoy it and as usual all comments, suggestions, and ideas are more than welcome.

Enjoy your modeling...

Can I still join in, if so would a Hummel count towards this build? If not I'll go and get a Pz IV

Foster, she is looking good, a little too clean for my taste, but very good!! I cant wait to see some dirt on it!! Overall, a very clean looking build!Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

ddayomaha, the Hummel was on a Pz IV chassis... yes, but it was a very modified chassis. I think it would be a stretch to call it a Pz IV, but if you read the rules on the first page I think you will find that it is up to you. I will put you on the list.Big Smile [:D]

edog,

It's very much "too clean" to my liking as well. That's why, as I said above, these are in-progress pictures of the tank as it would have looked rolling out of the factory. It's no where near done.

Enjoy your modeling...

Been on limited net time, so I needed to catch up on a few pages. Wow guys, they all look great so far. Nice to see a variety of versions and schemes.

Sorry to say I have done little modelling at all these past few weeks, with my boys both having jobs after school, I have been running them around a lot and also running an exchange student around. I'm glad this GB has 'no end date!' 'cause I'm way behind on the Small afv GB too. Some serious building now required.

Couple of good looking builds there, edog.

Are you planning on doing any additional work to the lower hull on the F1?

Enjoy your modeling...
