Chris that's exactly how this one is looking so far... SWEET!!! and so far real easy to get together... got the main cockpit tub cut off the casting block and sanded in like 15 minutes (cut by hand, not dremel) figure I am gonna wait till tomorrow to tackle more... then I will post a pic...gotta little more cleanin to do on that IP before it's ready to sdet aside and wait for the rest to be assembled...

I was really surprised at the price too... I think it was only like 11 dollars for the Ares kit.. PE, resin and film altogether! gonna go out and see what else they might have for my stash of kits waiting to be built...

Hey Chris, I'll see if I can send you some dig photos that a cop-buddy of mine took of the Biltmore Area. It was all under 6 feet of water, no kidding. One of my territories included Cashiers and it's a really nice place, especially with fall on the way. Unfortunately one of my LHS got washed away in the Biltmore area. Now, i am down to one. Anyway, guess it's back to working on the cockpit of this Hornet. If I don't get to work I'll never finish by Dec 31. Later

Jonathan, we got about 8 or 9 inches but the wind must've blew it away!!LOL no flooding to speak of, but you guys got hammered by the rain eh? by the time i got to a TV, thats all the news guys showed was the immense flooding!! i wanted to see some footage of the coast, but had to buy news papers and get still shots. i thought for a while that the whole state of NC was gonna slide off into the ocean or something!! BTW, my wife and i went to Cashiers NC for our honey moon 6 years ago to a place and stayed in bed and breakfast for a couple of days. then, we swooped over to Asheville to see Biltmore. very cool state you got there. later.

hey saltydog, glad your not breathing from a tube underwater! Up here in Western NC people are deciding to build houseboats due to the flooding. I imagine down there must be worse. Time to get back in the groove...

Heck yea, reggie! Sounds really cool! I'm trying to find some photos on the Hornet cause I am thinking of folding the wings... by the way... are a hornets flaps down even with the wings folded? This Hasegawa kit is spectacular and I'd like to try that to really set it off. The only down side is little detail on the ejection seats and decals for the instruments. I've done some scratchbuilding on the seats and a little goes a long way. They look 50 times better. Next time I'll try a detail set. Also reggie you should check out the 1/72 Has FA-18F Super Hornet!!! I paid 20 bucks for it here and it's so worth the money. The kit is beautiful. Fit is great! Aside from Photobucket how do i post photos here? I'd like to show it off if I can make it work.

going to the LHS later today to have a look at hornets. though they are nowhere near as deadly as cats, they still are pretty darn cool. due to financial reasons, i think it will be a 1/72 hornet not a 1/48 hornet. or maybe it might not be a hornet! hahaha im fickle !

sad to say I havent even opened the box since I signed up, been preoccupied with the stealth stuff lately, but as soon as I start painting the nighthawk I'm going to get cracking on the wildcat.

cool! glad to hear ya made it though... still waiting on word from Saltydog...

I'm only a little ahead of you... got the cockpit together and the wings and fuselage glued together... waiting on the future to cure then painting and adding the floats and PE to the exterior... (It's a OS2U kingfisher) also working on a AV-8B that is coming together too sweet... might add this to the GB as the OS2U is a little basic. I remember my dad did me one in 1/32 when I was a kid that had lots of detail... this one I am not impressed with... there's PE but some of it looks out of scale. In fact I have found there are several pieces of PE that I cannot find evidence of in ANY reference photos... (handholds on the floats themselves and a few other exterior pieces)

oh well, I guess childhood memories are the best... this kit sure isn't...

Hey Ray

Hope you haven't forgotten about me! I still have every intention of finishing that Skyhawk. I have to believe the the piles of hockey jerseys here that need to be decorated will go down someday. Glad to hear you made it through yet another hurricane OK. Talk to ya later. If you have a chance, check this out.
