Seems like everyone is in a building slump at the moment. At the beginning, everyone was so keen to build these cats. Now the bad fitting kits have dented our enthusiasm. I'm sure we'll get at least one done by the finish date (and I'm not talking about mine).

Found another F-14 website at the Aircraft Resource Center...

http://www.topedge.com/alley/alley.htm

Here's a cool photo of a couple of 'Cats, waiting for the catapults.

I don't know whose photo it is, I found it at Tomcat Alley.

bstrump...planes are going to take a backseat for a while??

Such heresy....Laugh [(-D]

Actually, I have an AMT model of an American LaFrance Fire Engine, it makes the Hasegawa Tomcat look like a "snap-tite" kit. I've been mulling over starting it. But, it's going to be a significant "scratch build". My neighbor is a firefighter, and I'm going to go visit his station when he's working and take a boatload of photos for reference. And I'm going to paint it "lime green" or "lime yellow", too. Now to a firefighter, that's heresy.

I'm sorta here. I've taken a bit of a break from building aircraft so that I can build trucks. I won Italeri's Mercedes 1853 kit on ebay and I've been at that for the last few days. It's been a refreshing change to say the least. With Mad Komet Day, all the GBs, and the backlog of unfinished projects on the bench, I was starting to suffer airplane burnout. So the planes are going to take a back seat for a while.

I'm still here. Been in another one of my modeling slumps. No time really. I have a four day weekend off from work (Presidents Day here in the states), yet here I am, at work. Have not done anything to my VF-14 build in about a month. It's still covered in masking tape from when I sprayed the leading edges of the wings stainless steel. I might, just might, rabbit (Bugs Bunny joke), get some work done on it this Sat...

Thanks for that mate. I'll have to try a few methods out and see what I like the look of.

Ping:

I was just over at the Aircraft Resource Center, there's a feature article from Rick Chin about building the Revell-Monogram F-15E...I know, I know, this is an F-14 GB! Anyways, Part 2 of his article is about the "burner cans".

http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/

If you want to read this, go to the above link; then click "Galleries" from the top, then click "jet aircraft". Scroll down until you see "F-15", it's in Page 1.

Sentry, this is not to take away from your work...just offering up additional resources.

well erh thanks daniel , and erh welcome back Ga Modeler.

the color on the exhaust can is from gunze new super metallic color. It looks like alcylic to me. Im not sure wat number, need to check on it. Those buggers sticks the price tag onto the numbers , they have burnt iron, silver , metal, aluminium and so on. the new ones is with those silver sticker onto it. Good for hand brushed painting though.

I'm gonna start calling people here in the U.S. on welfare "bludgers". Ha ha.

OFF TOPIC

Ah, "dole" as in "...being on the public dole...". Here it's called "welfare". The government confiscates money from hard-working people, it's called taxation, and they reward the unproductive people who crank out babies. Welfare has created a generation of totally dependant people, who are raising children to depend on welfare just like mommy did (because we've been "reprogrammed" to think that fathers aren't really necessary).

Yeah, I get your joke about the road crew. Hey, don't joke around, it's a hard job to tote around a clipboard all day, flying off at the handle, jumping to conclusions, and making mountains out of mole-hills. Laugh [(-D]

For whatever reason I had this idea that a "bludger" went around bludgeoning people. I'm glad I had the wrong idea.

You're not far off, but a dole bludger isn't someone who works for the government. I'm not sure what it's called in the US, but the dole is for people who don't work so the government gives them money anyway. What you're talking about is a council worker here in Australia (They're the blokes that require seven people to dig a hole. Two to dig it, 3 to stand around leaning on their shovels and another 2 to run down the shops to grab lunch)

Well my good man, a bludger is someone who basically does nothing. In Australia we have bludgers and we have dole bludgers. The basic difference is that the latter gets paid for doing nothing. I should actually update that now, I'm not a student anymore.

sentry All I can see there is the dreaded Red X's mate. Are you using an online picture site to host your photo's? If not, go to www.photobucket.com and sign up for an account. Then all you have to do is upload your pictures and then copy the line, below the thumbnail that wil appear, called IMG and paste it into your image.

Hope that works for you.

MACooke Looks good to me, but photos don't show the whole story do they. That's the last thing you need isn't it? more sanding.

Thanks Sentry. I think I was a bit too eager to paint last night...I'm going to sand down the whole thing w/ 600 grit. Then I've got a few "trouble spots" to fix, where the putty is showing through like cardboard.

It'll be re-painted at least one more time.
