Rick, great job on the 109'. The camo and mottling are very well done. Thanks for posting it. Now my Hurricane has something to tangle with!Wink [;)]

Thanks Tanky, actually rubbing alcohol did the trick quit nicely and after resanding the canopy I tried buffing it with the polishing pad on my dremel, another quick dip in the future and walla, just like new!! (Whew!!!!) Was worried there for a moment.

Pssst... anyone looking to buy a shrubbery?

razor, I think windex should do the trick. Rick, yeah, that kit is a venerable old fogey, eh? But the poor fit is made up for by the fact that the clear parts are so wonderully, well, clear.

Jay, the M407 is much more camera for just a little bit more MONEY... the extra megapixel goes a LONG way to a clearer photo once you crop, enhance and enlarge the one piece you want, they're pretty much the same camera otherwise, but believe me... it's like the difference between 1024x768 and 1280x1024 on your display settings, the numbers don't look that different but once you change over you really see it.

What you should be more interested in is the macro setting on the HP's for nice model shots... try no zoom, plenty of light and use the macro setting to get the camera itself in close... it will give you much more detail, no fuzziness or distortion... so when you manipulate it to crop and resize it, the END image is closer to the original...

Good luck! It looked like a good overall camera, the 3MP one would work, but like I mentioned, for $30 US more you get the extra megapixel which is a huge difference...

oh yeah if you plan on using this on vacation or snap shot stuff like brithday parties, I recommend getting more memory... at least a 128MB SD/MMC which should run you about $35 to $55 more... it's not mandatory right away but 16MB will only hold a few pics at full resolution.. (probably about 12 or so) the 128 stick at 4MP will give you around 60 to 70 pics without deleting or downloading any... and the generic ones are just as good and cheaper so don't worry about it being HP branded.

---edit---

I just reread this and have NO idea why I capitalized money up there... maybe it is my wife's uncontrolled spending recently... ::shrug::

Anyone know how to strip future off clear parts. got a scratch in the upper gunner position and tried to polish/future it but didn't polish it enough and have to start over.

Rick, sounds great, the more options the better and after a quick look Jg 54 should have plenty to offer. I think 2010 sounds about right but we should try to sneak it in after the North African GB.

Tanky: Hang in there.

Tanky, that kit is about twice as old as you, so treat your elders with respect & take care to fit the glass as best as you can. Smile [:)]

Just to expand the discussion of a Staffel Group Build, I was thinking about the "Osprey Aviation Elite" series of reference books which feature the history of a full Jagdgeschwader. One that might have a lot of appeal would be a Jg 54 "Grunherz" Group Build. Would include Fiat CR32, Avia B534, Bf-109D/E/F/G, FW-190A/D to list the major aircraft that are available in kits. Although the Grunherz gained most of their fame on the Eastern Front, they actually cover the complete span of the war from 1939 through 1945. Just something more to chew on Smile [:)].

urgh!!! the clear parts fit on the do-17 is very very NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!! To say the least. This is compounded by the fact that there are so many clear pieces. urgh. This was supposed to be a quickie build, so i'll just plow on ahead.

Hmmm... do I smell another possible group build in the making? Someone in the armor page is trying to do a group build where they are doing builds from one specific Panzer Group (12th SS I believe). What would you guys think of picking a specific staffel of 109's and doing them up? Of course this would be after the North Africa GB. BTW has a date been set for that?

You could potentially extend it to go for two opposing Staffel/Squadrons - representative of a particular air battle on a particular day. Now, the finished models of such a build would make a really cool "Roll of Honour"!!

As to the timing ... I am seeing 2010 being a good target Wink [;)]

Rick, nothing too special, My wife and I like the HP 3.2 megapix I can't remember the model no., but it is only about 200 $(cdn). I've tested it's zoom function and it gets in close pretty good. I'm don't like really expensive stuff so for now I think it'll do.Big Smile [:D]

I checked on the interweb and it is either the HP M307 or HP M407. It is going to be our Valentines day present to each other.Tongue [:P] (I really hate comercially constructed holidays but I shouldn't vent on the forum, sorryDisapprove [V])

Darren - sorry I neglected to say thank you yesterday... I was typing in between trying to corral Rudy from several misfortunate events he managed to get himself into. (read - the wrath of me! haha) he IS a handful! But thank you... just getting back into the hobby like I have I have few resources beyond the internet so what you did is better than gold! And almost as good as Mrs. Parkers Cheese Roll she brings to Saturday night Bingo at Happy Acres!!!!

Jues et. al. I would also be interested in doing a staffel specific 109 BG... I guess we would have to pick one where there is sufficient data for us to be able to somehow customize each one to represent a different plane??? would be cool... but down the road a bit...

Tweets - Your old school marm passed by Happy Acres again today.. wanted to see you about something you took from her desk in 1979. I told her you were now working at Tony Scarparettos Bakery and all night Pizzeria in Boise Idaho, so she left for the airport...... hope that was ok...

Wow, Rick has certainly got some feathers ruffled!!!
In a good way too!!

A 109 GB has been done I'm sure, but to do one showing TOTALLY different versions would be interesting, and could encompass a couple of a/c, like 109's AND ???, just to make it more appealing to others.

Jules, I'll give the EZ a lash on the 109 and see how it goes.
Should be sweet!
Got any pics of the red nose 109 your making, I wanna see a blow by blow album on that one.
And YES, I'm still planning on doing a Sopwith Tri, just recalls a little more b***s than I have atm to do it.

Razordws, interesting topic, I think I'd go for that, I only have one bf-109 in my collection. Then again I only have 6 models from my previous life worthy of displaying!Big Smile [:D]

Oh boy, oh boy - I'm buying a digital cam this weekend, so soon I can post all the pics I want! Tongue [:P]instead of borrowing one from work.

The hurricane is coming a long nicely, the wings are almost ready to put on the body and then painting can occur! I took a time out to advance my Typhoon. I should post some pics of it, I totally scratched up the pit on that one but silly me put the seat in crooked and super glue doesn't like to let go! Shock [:O]Dunce [D)]I also am bulding some bomb racks which I have to finish before I paint it.

yeah, I know- I've been looking at the various decal options online for a bf109 build AFTER I get the He111 together, time permitting.

OK so i found a white tailed Emil, not just the rudder the whole tail including wings and up the fueselage to those little holes on the panel line, the wingtips are also white but the rest of the A/C appears to be overall RLM 70 uppersurfaces over RLM 65 udersurfaces........
The machine is BF 109 E1Yellow 12 from 11/JG26 operating out of Dusseldorf during Aug 39, it also carriers the Schlageter emblem under the C/pit.......

I'll keep searching for a white noseThumbs Up [tup]
