Frosty, nice looking planes! Since we're way off the WRC topic: I picked up the kits over the weekend. I was absolutely stunned! Firstly at the (lack of!) size! You know it's smaller, but you think "Aaah, it's about half a 1:20 model... Shock [:O]

And then the detail! I think some larger scale manufacturers should bury their heads in shame! Wink [;)] In the end I got the Mp4/4 (old "curbside World Championship version, since replaced with a detailed version) and the F2004 "Belgium" version. Also some other versions that can be built from that kit. Open engine, extra nosecones for a nice diorama. I have never seen so many small parts together (as for the F2004)! Hooooly cow! Even worse than the SD kit I have for the F2002. Supplier told me that is nothing compared to the 312T2, T3 an T4's. I am very tempted start the MP4/4 right away - only thing keeping me back is the complete lack of Dremel tool. I am now in the hunting process to rectify that... of course also very handy for the slowly progressing R25!

those Tameo F1 kits look awesome !
& as 4 LMM 1/43 kits, check out their porsche 962 'FAT', it looks like tamiya-level detail

btw, i like a/c also....
here's a pic of 3 fokker dr.i a/c i built not too long ago, (1/72 eduard kits):

i build armor, too... & gundam models.... i'm just totally in love w/ miniatures ...

Thanks for the compliments, guys!

Frosty, I'm just finalising an order for two Tameo's, one of which being an open-engined version of the F2004. Think it's TMK346, but that's from memory. Look quite a neat one - but will first do the other one I ordered to get used to the scale.

Well, just because it's in a big box that will make space for more cars to fit in! Didn't even know LMM do 1:43 as well. I have a 1:24 Bentley with opening doors and all in the cupboard. And just to boot, it's not on the bench yet - I decided to "replace" the empty space the Suby made with an F-4 I started building before we moved (more than a year ago!) Yes, I am actually building a plane... Shock [:O] Of course it's no coincidence that it comes in a big box... which will allow more cars to come in once that box is away! thanx ! the 1/43 scale isn't too bad 4 me... i do model rr stuff in 1/160, so everything else seems pretty big in comparison, LOL ! the pug  fits on my 3" sq. cutting mat, but there was still plentyof room inside 2 add details, & if u have ever worked w/ p/e parts u will probably b used 2 fiddly stuff... seems like most of the 1/43 kits out there r either white metal or resin  & kind of expensive, the heller ones r injection molded styrene  & affordable but hard 2 find...

.F1 & LeMans cars r very well catered 2 in 1/43, check out grandprix models & lemans miniatures 4 some very cool kits... there is a ferrari 312 T that is 2 die 4 , i want that model !!!!

ur suby looks great, very nice work on that, & i guess i'll b seeing u in F1-ville soon enough !

Okay, all done... Pics not the best, but here they are. Amazing how the dust, etc gets highlighted in the light and you only notice it on the photo's!

Taken a bit skew, sorry!

45-angle view - how the window looks so filthy in the light, I don't know - perfect indoors!

Side view...

Highly enjoyable build - will recommend this kit!

tricolore decal on the roof... mais ouis, c'est francais !

the rear end w/ decals added... i have 2 find a replacement for the '205 turbo 16' decal that should b on the rear, rite side of the DENSO logo...  one repositioning too many, i'm afraid.

it's like vacu-forming, but w/o the vacuum....

gently heat a piece of acetate which is a bit bigger than the piece u want 2 replace,

b4 u get a useable piece, don't hold the acetate too close 2 the heat source (i use a candle

or a cig lighter) or u will get some icky fumes & possibly some flames as well !

if the master is fragile, u may want 2 stick some blu-tac or silly putty inside 2 help keep the

shape....

w/ the way they turned out, & i only lost one small part... can u believe it ?

here r some updated pix of the pug, & it mite even b warm enough 2 spray paint

outside this afternoon when i get home from class, so if i can, i'll spray the replacement body

on the corolla wrc, totally stoked 2 b able finish something soon !!!

hope u enjoy the pix !

Frosty, that's looking real good! Your seatbelts obviously went better than mine (in 1:24!)

I have finished most and yesterday evening decided to just quickly paint the arials before attaching them. To make a long story short... After doing those on one sprue, I picked up the other sprue, which on the way up ensnared the previously put down one, which in turn got a very nice hold on the paint jar... which obviously, in turn commenced to deposit 3/4 of an acrylic SF black bottle onto my desk! Censored [censored] Banged Head [banghead] Did I forget to mention over my Ducati's instructions? Angel [angel] Operation mop-up, clean-up and trying to get the smell out the room began. Did I do any modelling after that... noooooo!

But all in all, basically finished, just decalling, arials and roofcam.

here r the latest pix of the pug 205 (heller 1/43 kit):

i added eduard p/e seatbelts/shoulder harnesses & a scratchbuilt handbrake,

& the heatformed front & rear windows have been installed.

bmf has been added behind headlight glazing & over molded-in tail lights,

& i started painting the stoplight red parts of the tail lights ...

haven't had a lot of time 4 modeling l8ly, so i'm happy i can show a little progress on something !

hope u enjoy the pix !

while i'm trying 2 decide if i need a new body (4 the Corolla WRC, lol !)
here's some progress on the 1/43 Pug:
scatchbuilt diagonals w/ padding added 2 rollcage
chassis w/ more scratchbuilt parts in foreground
scratchbuilt suspension parts
these parts r pretty small, about 1/2 inch in length
rear suspension part installed
front & rear suspension parts installed
the interior w/ fire suppression system installed... dash decal is a bit off register, but it most likely
will not b noticeable once she's all buttoned up...

hope u enjoy the pix, & have a good weekend !

OT: I am still amazed at that Lucky Strike bike...Bow [bow]

I actually went on priming the wing yesterday...maybe this kit will be finished after all. Would be really nice to have a clean building table once in a while.

Left to do on the pug:
rear wing: paint TS-49, decal up, clear coat, install
windows: decal up, detailing
chassis: weather the underside, install shielding and wheels
interior: harnesses, belts for spare tire, cell phone, right door computer, install seats and dash board
exterior: try to fix the bad window trim painting (wich made me put this build on the shelf in the first place...), paint door handles, install head lights, paint and install rear lights, bonnet fasteners, antenna

a bit, but not much is it? Wouldn't take THAT long to complete.

ahh well, we'll see about it.
until then, tada
/Joel

And SeaBee, as you know the Lucky Strike livery is a real stunner so I also await the moment of installment.

Suby is coming along, will most likely be able to finish it "shortly". Started on the body, lights and other peripherils to be added. Got the most awfull lot of gunk attracted to the clear on the windshields! Removed most with fine sanding and some rubbing compound.

hSeaBee:

thanx 4 the words of encouragement, i've resprayed the body w/

tamiya white primer & the roof crack is a lot less noticeable...

isn't it (not very) funny how gloss & clear finishes seem 2 b magnets 4 any

little bit of dust, grit or animal hair that mite b within a mile of ur

work area ? a flat finish can sit uncovered 4 days & stay clean, but in the

moment it takes 2 cover up a futured windshield or freshly painted car body...

auggh !!!! but @ least w/ rally cars, dirt doesn't look out of place...

the primer & paint were both Tamiya rattlecans, 'synthetic lacquer'...

i used isopropyl alcohol 2 remove the paint & primer, it works great as

just soak the body in it 4 a couple of days...

well, i had a few little setbacks w/ the Corolla WRC, after finally recovering from the
orange peel by stripping the paint off the car body, i slipped & fell & sat on the box,
i cracked the roof almost from end 2 end & bent both 'a' pillars out of shape, so i've
made repairs but am thinking about replacing the body... on the plus side, the delay
allowed me 2 notice that i had forgotten 2 install the handbrake in the interior, so i
was able 2 put that where it belonged w/o too much trouble, so  i guess this cloud
does have a silver lining, LOL !
in any case, here r the latest pix of the chassis/interior...
& here r some pix of another rally car:
this is a peugeot 205 T16, the kit is by Heller in 1/43, i'm adding a few little extras 2 this one...

hope u enjoy the pix, & have a good weekend, folks !

Some progress are being made on the Subaru. Very slow, though.

Frosty, my seatbelts will end up as *blush* decals. Simple... I was busy building it, when I lost a few parts of the PE set on the mat. They are just gone! Shock [:O] The small-parts-gobbler must've gotten them in mid-air, not even allowing them to fall. I was rather PO'ed at this. My own mistake, nobody else's.

So, even though there's nothing to show as such, just to let you guys know I'm back at it. Hopefully some results in a few weeks time...

Thanks Frosty. i have some aluminum rod though have never tried bending it. I always have trouble cutting it though. What is the best way to cut it? I normally score it but I always get rough cuts.So i swithced to wire and styrene rod for my applications. Have seen headers made from solder but that won't help me on hte hollow end of the exhaust.

MGM:

that looks good so far !

as 4 exhaust pipes, aluminium tubing works nicely as long as u r not bending it...

if u need 2 bend it 4 whatever reason, u mite want 2 stick a piece of styrene rod

in the tube where the bends will b so the tube doesn't kink @ those points,

otherwise it won't look rite...

Well I finally bought my second AMT 75 Dodge Dart Sport AKA "75 Plymouth Duster" to start my muscle rally car project. I liked the black one I started so much as a hot rod I just couldn't "rally it". So here's the second one in true seventies metallic brown. The color is Duplicolor metallic brown (can't remember the exact name) from a rattle can over Duplicolor grey primer. I placed the body atop my near-complete black 75 Dart chassis just to get an idea of the look. The bumpers will have brush guards and both the bumpers and wheels will be painted white. There will also be an off-center white racing stripe across the top. I was thinking a white interior from an aesthetics standpoint but from a practical standpoint black interior would be more suitable for an off road car with black rubberized or steel plate flooring.
The suspension on these kits sits way too low in the rear and the tires tend to stick too far out. On this car I alleviated this by not completly inserting the the leaf spring peg at the rear and creating a lifting block effect. Its hidden by the lip of the rear end so I won't bother with fabricating a more realistic lifting block or bracket. On my black car I did something different. I'll be using decals from the parts box particulay those from some of my diecast rally cars.

Any exhaust ideas? The kit only includes side pipes. I am not going to use the kit side pipes on this (of course) so I will either be running it straight out the rear or I'll scratch some pipes exiting the side.
