ok it took awhile but both the seat and wheels for my P-47 as well as the decal for escuadron 201 came in! I'll take some pics tomorrow for those of you that haven't seen ultracast stuff... REALLY good looking.. the seatbelts look better than PE in my opinion as they are more 3D looking...

I'm ready to go! I noticed the guatemalan markings look good and I might use those for a later builds. They have a Mayan warrior on the sides of the aircraft.. really nice detail to the decals!!

Dear friends:

Please take a look at the FSM Reader Gallery April issue to see my first Latinamerican model I ever made: a T-33 from the FAM, I hope this model likes you.

ok here are the ultracast seats... these are great for cockpits that already have enough detail but all you need to add are belts... well these (in my opinion) look more 3D than PE. Also the seats of the 3 sets I have bought so far look more realistic also.

Here's the ones for the P-47

its hard to see but that is another ultracast seat behing the P-47 one, for the Typhoon I am building right now... you can see the way the belts flow so naturally on the seats...

Dear SAWI:

Congratulations for your B-25J from Mexican Air Force:

what kind of decal do you use? The only one I know was the old Lodela kit from Mexico from mid 80's at 1/48 scale...please tell us more about your model.

Wow, really great! I'd been looking for info on the MAF T-33 & the NdeM MD-500! Right before I left Japan I bought a Hasegawa 1/72 T-33 specifically to build the FAM T-33, since it was metioned in the Aztec Mexican Air Forces sheet I bought from them a while back. - Calvin

I finally found you guys....I am glad to see that someone is interested in latinamerican armed forces. To answer some of your questions, the decals I used on the B-25 were from a company called LGR in Mexico City (Circa 1991), but the company does not exist anymore. Now we can only hope that Aztec takes over were LGR left. By the way LGR also made decals for the HU-16 Albatross and the PBY-5A of the mexican navy in 1/72 scale. As for the T-33 info, I have recolected some over the years, so I'll be glad to pass it on to whoever is interested.

ok got the interior sprayed on my escuadron 201 P-47... I must say I am more impressed witht he seats from Ultracast for this one than the seat for the Typhoon... seems to be much more crisp and better detail. Hopefully I will have some painting done tomorrow and can post some picks... but I think I am sold on these Ultracast items...

This is the P-47D of one of the mexican pilots of the 201 who got killed in an accident during training in Texas. The model is from Tamiya in 1/48, OOB and the decals from Aztec, finished in aluminum with SNJ ( my favorite aluminum paint)

Just remember to scratch-build and add the dorsal fin on your P-47, since the ones on the Philipines did have it, and the Tamiya model does not include one. Other than that this is one of the best kits made by Tamiya.

Take a look at the brand new Brazilian magazine Plastinet, http://www.plastinet.com.br. Mostly in Portuguese but some articles also in English. A lot of information and walk-around pictures.

great Manuel! I have the interior of my P-47 sprayed and some of the detail painted... this week has not been good for modeling. I have been interrupted so much... Tomorrow I go to buy a new car, Sunday I go to my parents house to install my father's network... so it looks like next week MAYBE I will have a chance. I am going to a networking class all next week and those usually tire me pretty bad so it may be later.

I wish I could work some in between, the P-47 kit is a nice build, like the Tamiya Wildcat kit but more detailed! The only aftermarket pieces I am using is the Ultracast seat and wheels on this.

Gentlemen, where do you get your info to detail the kits like Masters! I went to the FAP site but I can't save any pics from there. And they have some good pics! I just got moved into my barracks room here at NAS Fallon, so as soon as I get set up it's ON!! LOL - Calvin

Dang!Black Eye [B)] Forgot for a minute that the Tamiya kit I was gonna use for this particular GB is in my packout & won't get to me for about a month!! Banged Head [banghead] That's OK! I found a nice 1/48 scale sheet for Dominica & Uraguay's T-33s'!! Now all I have to do is get ahold of a 1/48 T-33! Tongue [:P]

I really am looking forward to airbrushing this one! I will be using Alclad II and after the finishes I have seen with it I am anxious to get it done!!!

Wow, Manuel! You've been doing that kinda work w/o an expensive airbrush!? You'll be really fixin' them soon! LOL Yeah, the sheet I got of Evilbay is pretty nice. Microscale's 1/48 Peruvian & Uraguay T-33's. I hope the Hobbycraft T-33 kit is decent. I did manage to find another P-51D on e-bay for cheap ( Hasegawa) so the FAD a/c is still a GO! - Calvin

ok the one thing I hate about the Tamiya kits are the instrument panels... I futured mine last week in the P-47, went to put the decal in place (as there is no detail beyond the bezels) and the microsset turned the future cloudy, if it does not turn black again once it dries I guess several washes of very thin black left to dry inbetween would make it black again... (let it run in between the dial bezels and pool so it leaves the dial detail...

just my little rant for the day... if they had detail I could dry brush them or do them with silver pencil and not have to go through this....
