Great looking Kiowa markings.  I have one in the stash, along with a Floyd Warner update set, that I may have to use these markings on.

I'll have to dig through my pics and see what I have again, then I'll post them to photobucket and put another reply on here.  If I remember correctly, I had a couple of pics that had some nice airbrush work on the gun and rocket pods along with a couple of pics of a very dirty Kiowa!

Edit - here are the pics that I could find

Some great looking builds here, gentlemen.  Keep it up!  Gotta love the snakes, whatever country they're from.  Due to my current circumstances, I'm unable to contribute right now, but I'll stand on the sidelines and cheer the rest of you on.  Keep the update photos rolling in.

Cobra,
Nice looking start to your KW.  What unit are you planning to mark it as?  If you are looking to model a 1st Cav KW I can send you a couple of sweet detail pics from OIF.

On another note, here are three inprogress pics of my Ka-50, I will be painting it with the three tone camo scheme instead of the all black bird.

Here they are.

I have finished up the camo painting since these pics were taken and am begining to work on the weapon load and the rotors!

Hey guys,

Ok, I've actually made some progress on my KW.  Took the rotor off temporarily so I could do some detail work.  I've gotta tone down the overhead windows a bit, they're a little too green. Other than that, the paint job came out pretty good!

Hey guys,

Been gone for a while, just saw this post. Started an MRC (before Academy came in) 1/35 AH1W last Saturday - just got Cobra's AH1W NTS Update set. If this build is still open I'd like to autorotate in...

Thanks for letting me in, being a lift pilot and all!!!.  As far as being around Rucker, I really dont have a clue as to when. Maybe this summer and maybe not depends on a bunch of things really.

Jon,

Since you made this an open ended GB I'd like to enter with a 1/48 RoG Ka-50 Hokum, if that is cool with you. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Jon,

I am really confused.  Has this build already started?  I read it as starting 1 Jan so I got a chopper to build and wanted to join in.  Let me know what the finish date is and if there is enough time I will do the 1/35 Academy/MRC AH-1W Suyper Cobre with a ton of Eduard PE.  But I won't be able to start until January.

Thanks

Richard

Just for giggles I started an AH-1F in 48th scale (the Revellogram kit) that Trigger gave me.  I needed something I could do OOB and not worry about being a detail freak.  Well, I forgot how great this kit is!  Other than the raised panel lines, it is AWESOME!  Fit is good, cockpit detail is fantastic.  I've got the fuselage together and the cockpit painted and skids mounted.  Now on to adding the detail bits and painting and decaling it!  Its nice to just slap a kit together every now and then!

How's everyone doing?

I've got a stack of helo kits sitting here and no time to do em!  Just got the Hasegawa 1:48th AH-64D and all I can say is WOW!  I'm looking forward to building this one!  If anyone is building Cobras, Apaches or Cheyennes and needs photo references, lemme know.  I've just taken several hundred photos of each, including the prototype Cobra and Apache.

I haven't made any further progress on my Kiowa, but its ready for paint.  Just need to get the airbrush up and running.

The next 32nd AH-64A is underway and I've done most of the fuselage and tailboom modifications.  This one is going to be from the 151st Avn in South Carolina and will be in the new gray paint scheme.

Looking good, Jon.
I'm anxious to see how that white pre-shading turns out.
I don't think I ever officially "declared" myself in this build, but wanted to mention that my AH-6J is coming along, but slowly. I drilled out the rocket pods for an empty look, and will be mounting Cobra Company's FLIR ball with two VDU screens that I have scratchbuilt. Sorry I have no digital cam to show, but I appreciate everyone else's pics giving me my inspiration.

Hey guys,

Well, I made some progress on the Kiowa today.  Pre-shaded all of the panel lines, Future'd the windscreen and painted the overhead windows transparent green, and I detailed the gun pod.  Here's some pics.

The gun pod has since been touched up and is all black (didn't realize I'd missed the underside until I took the pic!)

Okey dokey, finally got some work done on the Hokum!  Put the last dullcote on Wednesday night and pulled the masking off last night (not my best masking job, but not my worst, either).  Hoping to get the weapons painted tonight and decaled tomorrow.  Might have it completed by the end of the week.

Hey guys,

How's everyone doing? I just rebuilt most of my AH-64A that got creamed in the move. Working on my OH-58D now. Hope to have something done before I leave for flight school next weekend!

Nice. it seems that the activity here has died down a bit! How's everyone else's builds?Big Smile [:D]

I finally have my Little Bird photos up and ready. So the whole idea here is that I wanted to put it in some kind of setting. There's no significant 'story' to the surroundings; they just add some realism and shows the scale/size of the aircraft.

The painting was completely done by brush, in MM Acryl Aircraft Interior Black. I painted the engine cover with Tamiya's flat black, just to provide some variation. After painting I took a cloth and buffed out random areas, to make them slightly glossy, since the real Little Birds' paint jobs are rarely 100% flat.

Additional weathering was done with pastel chalk powder -- I applied it liberally and wiped it away, to really show service in the desert.

SOOO... here we go: photos of my Little Bird diorama/vignette/whatever-you-decide-to-call-it: Evil [}:)]

Got most of the "Black Shark" specific decals on last night; I'll do all the other stencils tonight and hopefully dullcote tomorrow.

Okay, so the Hokum's almost done. Decided to go with overall black as the color; I need a break from camouflage. Big Smile [:D]

Got the Hokum built and the top half primed. Will prime the underside tonight and probably start shooting camouflage tomorrow (that is, unless I decide to just go flat black). :)

Hey all,

Just wondering how everyone was doing? I've been stuck building tiny helos for work, all 1/72nd scale! Got the OH-6 and UH-1M completed and will be starting on the Cobra, CH-54 and UH-60A today. I really want to get back on track with all of my Apache and Cobra builds, especially since several of them are SO close to being finished. Not to mention they're a bigger scale! Practically need a microscope to deal with the ones I'm working on now!

I'm gonna see if I can get a digital camera so I can take some pics of the tiny stuff I'm working on here.

Later!

Not much new regarding my Hokum...did a few things the other day, but there are other projects which are taking priority right now. Anyway, here's what I've got so far:

Haven't decided on a color scheme yet...black would be cool, aand so would the striped camo, but it's a pain in the rear to do. We'll see. Big Smile [:D]
