Must resist urge to join another group build, must resist, must resis.........Evil [}:)]Big Smile [:D]

Tom the end date you've got in mind is going to be the killer for me, if there is any way you can take it out a bit (a lot actually) that would be great. Because the front half of this year is jam packed with builds IO am already committed too.
Otherwise put me down as a maybe for a Tamiya F4F Wildcat.

I just know I'm going to regret this.

Tom, I would love to join in on this one but if I do it will be towards the end. Need to clear some things off my desk and if time permits I'll jump in. Great idea though.

haha Tanky you better watch it or I will kick you out of the GB!! (feeling the massive power I hold going to my head)

just kidding... would love for you to join up... even if just for conversation...

Oh yeah I think I should mention it... Tweety.. you can't build an F-86 CAC for this one if you decide to join...

By the way Sean, did you know Kremps participated in the battle as well? she was an AA blimp by her account...

oh yeah - I spoke of him on several occasions in different threads, but here is my uncle - AMMC3 Leo F. Broussard, tail gunner/radioman SBD's 2?, 3, and 4... he enlisted in early 1941, became an Aviation Machinist Mate, finally obtaining the engine/carborator sub-rating, then trained as tail gunner in aviation gunnery school near Beeville, TX. problem was he was good at it (grew up hunting ducks in the bayous down here and knew how to lead a target with precision) .. He ended up as an instructor at the school upon graduation. His biggest lament was not going right out to the war. Finally he got orders to the USS ??? (I think Lexington from some of our talks once I went in the Navy) ... on his trip across the pacific the bomb was dropped and he never made it to combat.

When I was deployed in the Med he used to write me a lot after my aunt (his wife)died... we talked a lot about his time in, and his regret about not making it to combat... personally I am glad he never went... he was a very important influence growing up and some of his words still stick today. "If you're not going to do it right the first time don't do it at all" and so on... He used to love the pictures of the Med and of shipboard duty I would send him...

not really related to the Midway thread, but he trained many of the SBD gunners of the USMC and Navy, most probably some of the ones who fought in Midway either served with him in class or were trained by him... just wanted to bring it up.... as SBD's are one of my favorite kits for a reason... here he is:

Mike, not sure if ya have one near you but Hobby Lobby is ironically also running a 50% sale off all plastic models this week... would be a perfect time to pick up another AM Dauntless (the SBD-2 comes in Midway clothing) or an Avenger or Tamiya Wildcat!!!

Oh yeah... I am in!! It is one of the most interesting battles of the war for me-- I have been reading about it for years! I will build at least an SBD...maybe an Avenger as well. I am currently building George Gay's Devastator for the Pacific build...so it will be cool to continue on the theme...
