hi guys,

oh my giddy Aunt!! this is a GB that i have been waiting round for soooooo long!Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

i would love to join if i may?

i have a ton of stuff on the bench right now, and a ton more queueing impatiently to get on it, but what the...if i'm allowed, i'll join.

i have tam's panzer III, verlinden interior, friul tracks, eduard PE and tristar crew all lined upCool [8D], but i'm still not sure that's what i'll actually do.

if anyone can find me some good pics of the Pz III L in this conflict, then i might go for it; the scheme in the kit has really boring markingsDisapprove [V]

i also have Italeri's Crusader, Revell's Hs129 (no winter camo guys unless some sneaked past meDisapprove [V]), Hassy Bf109 E4 Trop, Hassy Bf 109 F, DML's M4A1, Trump's P-40B, Hassy's Desert Hurricane and Tam's Desert Spit (last two i have Malta decals for)....they all want to be built!!!

the armour i'd really like to do would be a British Sherman at El-Alamein, but that requires a lot of aftermarket purchases, and She Who Must Be Obeyed might just pull the plug on that one!Disapprove [V]Black Eye [B)][:0]

finally, for those of you doing a Matlida, or wanting a decent kit of one, take a look at TIger Models, they have one out real soon i think!Wink [;)]

http://www.tigermodels.com/joes_corner.htm

these guys are good - if you email them you get a reply from the boss! can't ask for more than that.

Enjoy the GB...

Nicholas
Kind regards, Nicholas

Hey i have an Idea, It's been mentioned here that the Usual Subjects have shown up for the GB.............
Towards the end of thr year why don't we have a "The Usual Subjects Gb
The idea would be to grab that kit that you've been wanting to do but can't because of other Gb commitments, you fellas must have a kit in the stash that you've been wanting to build, for me it's the Tamiya FW 190 D9 with the Eduard PE set thst i've been sitting on for a year or so...............

Jules-love the idea. I'll need something to hold me over between 30 Sept and the start of the Battle of Britian, Pt.II in Dec/Jan. Happen to have a Revell bf109G that is in need of a reason to be built.....

Where in Northern VA is it? Might have to go check it out.

I believe I will be the first to post a progress report for this GB. I painted the cockpit of my Tamiya 109 yesterday, gave it a wash and a dry-brush. Now I'm just about ready to close the fuselage. These shake-n-bake kits are good fun aren't they?

Tom & Jeeves Probably a good idea. Those dauntless's should be left in their proper state. With pacific markings that is. Any other paint scheme is just sacrilege.

Tanky That trumpeter P-40 is a very nice kit. The cockpit isn't too bad aside from being too shallow, and that stupid instrument panel. Fit of parts is good, and the decals are excellent. They are actually decals for an Australian pilots aircraft, but flown under the control of the RAF. That's why it has the small kangaroo on the side. It would be perfect for this GB.

I just realized, the Trumpeter p-40b i have comes with marking for N. Africa. I doubt I can enter it for this build though.

True Mike... this is my last SBD in the stash until the dash-3a comes out... so I wanna relish every moment of it... I think I wanna try Chris' (Saltydog) weathering technique on that one as it looked pretty sharp! Don't wanna feel rushed by a GB...

Tanky, he flew a lot of aircraft, but his personal marking was Yellow 14. If I were doing one of his, it would have to be Yellow 14.

rick, yeah that's what I thought. However, the revell kit has marseille flying yello 13. Is that inaccurate? I swear that's what the instructions say!

Wow!!! I go away for a day and when I come back I have to wade through a couple of pages on this thread. Reminds me of another GB I was in not too long ago!! Cool [8D]

So many possibilities for this build. Italian aircraft eh? Just might have to explore that possibility. I was thinking a 1/32 Bf 109 but I may be taking on a contract in another province so I will be away from home for a few months and a big model might not be such a good idea. I'll have to see how things pan out in the next couple of weeks.

Jules I won't get started on the MS406 till early May, after all I still have that Hurricane to finish for the BoB GB!! as well as a Ju287 & a Do217K.

The Dewoitine sounds interesting, now we just need some Italian aircraft, especially with Italeri releasing the CR42 Falco in 1/48 this month.

Tom I was beginning to think you've got a Martlet fixation...............

.......and then you go all ground pounder on us!

Karl

Depends on which plane your doing Tanky.
He flew a couple of them, would need to know which model number in particular your doing to represent his craft.
Serial number would be better, but are almost always incomplete or incorrect.

oOps, sorry. I'm doing Yellow 13.

Under the heading of 'Fun Facts"...doing research in"The War in the Desert" by Richard Collier, (a Time-Life book) and on page 154, there is a picture of a U.S. Navy SBD with a 1,000 pound bomb getting ready to launch from the U.S.S Ranger supporting the Operation Torch landing. The possibilities are endless....
