Howdy all.

Like some of you, I got the monster 1/48 under my Christmas tree, and I really want to do the thing proud.   I have a set of resin afterburner cans on order, but I am wondering what other AM stuff I need.

Specifically....what is included in the Eduard detail set?   Most cockpit details are going to be hidden, so I'm not worried about that, but what else can I expect?

Much oblidged in advance.

Well, the real world has intruded on my plans for the first half of this year, so I will have to drop out of the GB.  Can't really justify taking this monster kit where I'm going, and then it would never survive the return trip (no way would I build it and leave it there!)  SO, I'll have to just admire the work of others and learn from all your trials and tribulations so that once I get back to my bench, I'll be able to get this one out of the stash and onto the shelves!

Can't wait to see what you all do!

CJ,

Your right in the fact that the Eduard set comes with cockpit details. But it also comes with alot of details that deal with the landing gear and bays.A few external details like, vents and strakes on the outside and it also comes with the static wicks the come off the trailing edges of the wings and elevators and rudder.Oh and before I forget, it has internal detail for the bomb bays.It has alot of stuff you can use if intend on building this beast as if it were parked. My problem is that I do not have that kind room.....so I will probably build it with the gear up and hang it from the ceiling.I hope this helped you out. Later on......

Scott,

Thanks for the review sir.  You probably just made a sale for Eduard as I think I'll be needing all those external widgets.

This kit is so monstrous  that I want to to a kick-butt job on it.  However for that very reason I have not started yet as I am practicing on other kits, and STILL trying to figure out where I'm going to put the dang thing.

Here's the majority of the Eduard PE set:

The rest of the set contains the fwd & aft inst. panels, & a paper color insert.  The Eduard panels are on the left.

You can see the fwd inst. panel in this pic.  Also, that's the Terry Deans Castings nose weight for this kit.

This is the last pic I took of the MLG bay.  There are 10 PE panels for it, 5 on each side.

Also, here is a link to a site that has reviews for the Cutting Edge & Fox One decals.http://www.kitreview.com/reviews.htm.  Just scroll down the page.

I've started mine. I'll be doing her OOB. So far I've gotten the cockpit started. Everything is primed and I've started detail painting.

Lemonjello: I'll hold your place here. The important thing is that you be safe while playing in the big sandbox.

For Everyone thats dropped out: I'll let yall go past the deadline and give yall an open end date. Just post your pics when you can.
