ddayomaha thanks. Nothing wrong with being delayed!! I love the Marder III. I am currently building a 234/1. So when I dont work on it, I have been working on the Sherman.

To all,

Here is tonight's progress. I still have a lot of detail work to do but everything is on minus the fenders and tracks. They should be done tomorrow. I did test fit the tracks and of course they are a wee bit short. Dont know what I am going to do yet. Well here it is.

Hope everyone is doing great!

I should mention that a few small pieces either broke or flew off into never never land. Mainly two head lights. Oh well.

Well here is my progress thus far. The tracks are on, a little bit of weatehring ahs been done and just needs a tad more weathering to be completed. Hopefully you can see the weathering around the hatches and turret.

i built an BoB sherman for the mad sherman GB, though only got to finish it a week later thanx to my project at work started to go nuts on the team. that was the reason i didn't want to transfer the badge from the GBs joined to Badges Earned section.

Anyways, I will choose one out of the two tamiya Early and Jumbo Shermans or just get another Dragon BoB Sherman. Can't never have enough of them before Dragon comes out with the two new ones they had in their planning. I will let you know which one i decide on in a week after a trip to the LHS.

n Tankergeoff, was there a reason that you didn't use the kit included PE headlight guards? cuz i found them way too thin n had posted on the mad sherman GB regarding that.

oh man, those links... I took an entire build day (half a day) to get them off of the trees and cleaning each piece up. I'd say don't sweat with the mold lines center pieces length-wise, since they won't be seen after the links are assembled together. Now you only gotta clean up between the two studs for the endlinks. My finger had a blister thanks to these links since I had to use my old sidecutter due to that my xuron cutter fell behind the computer and wasn't found until days later.

On the assembly part for the tracks, CDNTanker told me to go at it 10 links at a time, cuz the endlinks are just such a pain in the neck! I ended up doing them 5 at a time and used the liquid tape by microscale so I could still make some changes after assembling the entire thing and then finalize them with ultrathin liquid cement.

After those two days well-spent, I just had to ask myself one question, how good are those AFV Club workable tracks for the Sherman....

Update....currently I have the lower hull done sans tracks. The uper hull is partially done (I will add lights and brush guards after painting. The turret is started. Here are some pics from the other day
Hull front, showing my work correcting Dragon's incorrect weld seams

rear hull, showing finished removal of Dragon's incorrect inclusion of grouser covers (note...the loose piece on the suspension was fixed. Dragons HVSS suspension is really flimsy!)

The lower hull and wheel assemblies

frostygirl,

No problem!! Thanks for the heads up though. I hate to putty and sand as well. I just couldnt let the thing go on upside down. It bothered me greatly. Except for that part, it was a nice build. Well that and the rubber band tracks but I got them done as well. Again, thanks for the info.
