i am all game for both of these hornets gb to end at the same time. well my quick hornet build  is all painted i screwed up the canopy so i have to redo it. DO NOT use glad press and seal by glad. i tried it and failed. it leaves a tacky susbtance on the canopy. well it looks like another day at the ol model bench rain again all day so no hunting. also here a a couple of pics of the hornet its all painted just have to redo the canopy window screen and paint the well bays . so enjoy them

Rob, I was wandering when your "will power" would cave in.....hehehe

I like the idea of this ending when the ARC GB ends.  That would give me a LOT of wiggle room as (from what I remember) the GB on ARC won't start until May and will end six months after that.  This would really help out and would look really cool to see all of those Super Hornet models!

I'm all for it!

I would like to take part in the group build also.  Can I enter planes that have been started.  I have three 1/72 Super Hornets that are less than 25% finished.  I haven't worked on them for a few months and thought this would be a good chance to finish them up.

If not, I have one 1/72 scale and two 1/48 models I could do.

For this GB, I'll probably start things off with a VFA-22 F/A-18E.  If I have time, then I'll also build a VFA-115 F/A-18E as well.  These are the two squadrons I photographed when I visited the U.S.S. Reagan this past July.

I'll probably build a couple of F model squadrons for the ARC GB and then I'll build a VFA-14 F/A-18E and VFA-41 F/A-18F for the Nimitz GB (IF ARC indeed has that one).

That reminds me, how long do the GB's on this forum run for?  I'm sure it says somewhere, I just haven't had time to look.

Cheers!

boy you sound like me kstarter i thought i had 15 in my stash but i missed counted right know i have 5-f-18 e and 3-f-18 f  all in 1/72 and 1  1/48 f-18 -E and 2 more E coming in the snail mail from greatmodels and a G on pre-order from great models in 1/48 since no 1/72 is out yet. so lets see that will be a E adn F an G for fsm gb and a E and F for for the arc gb.and a ton of c/d to do looks like its time to order some more super hornets. and i am currently working on a f-18 f right now will post some pics of it later i am all most to the painting part of it.

Sign me up John!

I have (14) 1/48 scale Super Hornets (8 E's and 6 F's) that I need to start making a dent in.  This GB (as well as the other one on ARC) should help me get these beasts built!

Cheers!

Hi all

For those of you that are interested, there is Super Hornet GB over at ARC that will start in May 2006.I must still get confirmation from Rob but in the meantime, I'm quite happy for people to "share" their build across both sites if people want to join up at ARC.

The GB will only start in May so hopefully we would have finished atleast one kit each, meaning that no sharing would be required.

Here is a link to the thread:

OK another question... I went to my LHS today and purchased the kit.  I haven't opened it, yet, (I need to sneak it in the house first) but I saw a BlackBox resin cockpit set there for it. Any opinions on the level of detail in the revell kit or the aftermarket kit?  Thanks for the help.....

Be careful, to the best of my knowledge Black Box haven't released a new cockpit set for the Revell or Hasegawa F/A-18E kits yet. THey recen'ty released a set for the Hasegawa F model.

Previously there was a set for the F and the E however they are meant for the Italeri kits. Strictly speaking I would assume that they would fit.

Although I'm sure Black Box will release new sets for the Revell/Hasegaw Es eventually.

I'll have to recheck the cockpit detail this evening and get back to you but it has raised cockpit detail and the options of decals. Will have a look later and take some photos if you like, then you can see for yourself

Todd

I forgot that you asked about the badge in the signature. In the very first post, you'll find a link to the GB badge. Add that link between ''img'' and ''/img'' in the signature section of your profile and the badge will display. Remember to put "[]" around both "img" otherwise it won't work.

Hi Todd

Welcome aboard, the GB only starts next year and is open to everyone. Not sure if we've implemented an end date yet.

Officially there aren't any USMC superhornet squadrons yet. They're all USN (as you've noticed) and the Navy seems to be focusing on migrating the F-14 squadrons to superhornets first. Whether or when the USMC gets any anyones guess.

You will have to "steal" some C/D decals for your build, what-ifs are allowed so knock yourself out. However, be warned the superhornet is substantially larger than a C or D plane. The vertical stabilisers might be larger(not sure) which might cause some problems with decals for Cs or Ds.

I would assume that TwoBobs or SuperScale have various options available.

Hello,  can I still join this GB?   I am new to the FSM forums, so how does the signature picture thing work??   If I can still join I am probably going to build a Revell F/A-18E. Can anyone steer me to some good USMC markings for it? All I have seen so far is USN decals...Thanks, Todd
