So this is the last day of the build. Here is the Macchi 202 done, I fixed a few little spots on it today. Is there going to be a voting on the builds like years past? If so  this is my entry for the build

Nice! How'd you do the weathering?

Not to be picky, but isn't the quote "They got us surrounded, the poor b@stards"?

Dang your Tiger is really nice, beats my 1/48th Tamiya Tiger that I did two months ago. Really nice weathering to it, makes the Tiger look real.

where's it going to be tanky?  i gotta check dates here, i dont know what might be going on....

yeah, so some more info.  checked out some more colleges and such around D.C./Baltimore.  had a great time down there, checked out the Nat'l WWII Memorial, its really inspiring being in such a place.  also the Vietnam and Lincoln Memorials.  Baltimore is a great city too, I definitely recommend it to anybody traveling through the area.  the best part was today.  on the way back to my sister's, we stopped at the Ordnance Museum at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, the armor shrine of treadheads.  it was excellent.  got a lot of pics of vehicles I'm planning on building in the future.  they even have a bradley, Abrams and T-72 parked out in front, and its incredible to compare the T-72 to the Abrams.  from separate pics, you would've thought they were the same size, but the Abrams dwarfs the T-72!  I couldn't believe that.  the turret on the T-72 is really cramped too.  I didn't get to look inside, but just from the outside you realize how spacious the Abrams turret really is.  I have looked inside an Abrams turret before, so yes, I know that its still fairly cramped.  but compared to the T-72, well, no comparison.  anyway, picked up some there, (of course).  couple t-shirts, some excellent books, ( and they have stuff you normally only find in a model shop.  usually you'll find only a couple good reference pieces compared to all the essays and other works about historical events that don't really go into great detail, but here, they've got osprey, manuals, detailed photo books, everything!).  also snagged a couple posters, 1/24 scale diagrams of a Panther D and a Tiger I.  you could seriously build pieces from these drawings, so they're definitely a jackpot find for reference.  plus they'll just look really, really cool up on the wall in my roomBig Smile [:D]

AP's coming up....ugh.  happy landings tanky to you and your 4, i lucked out, since they only offer two AP's for juniors at my school.

ygmodeler- good luck man.  remember there's only about a week or two left with the build.  hope you finish in time

congrats on the camera and kits guys.  so much to go over....

SAT class all through march.  sucked, but I think i killed on the SAT.  I'm takin it again in Oct.  Now I just got AP US Hist. and Language, plus the SAT II US HIST and thats it til June.  im in the middle of spring break now.  started last Mon.  on semi-vacation at sister's in NJ.

our local club had its show this past weekend.  Buffcon 23 baby!  excellent show.  killer dios too.  there were two stupendous dios of normandy that just killed look for them on modelmaniac.com, they said they would post up pics.  one was of US 2nd Armored boys moving through the wreckage of the breakthrough.  excellent.  just as good was the bigger dio of 30th infantry guys ( i think) going through a portion of Panzer Lehr.  just killer dios.  I might just post up my pics of um.  I was hoping to get more done, but all i had was the monitor vs. Virginia ready, so I entered it in adult ship dios.  got 2nd place, so it was wasn't too bad.  I didnt buy much, i dont need much more though.  hoping to finish the bunker for this build by the end of this week.  all that needs to be finished is fig painting and gear.  its gonna look great I think.

back to the 'semi-vacation' part.  I couldn't stay for the awards at the model show because we had to take off for a two-day long excursion to west point military academy.  im looking at colleges and im considering it.  its a great looking campus.  I went around with a plebe (freshmen) for half the day to get a feel.  It wasn't as bad as i thought it would be.  but that was just one day with just one kid.  still, I definitely donsidering it.  after that we came home for a couple of days since my mom had work, but then we headed here for easter to see my nephew.  were goin to a couple other schools after this.

BTW- had my birthday last sunday the 9th (same day as BUFFCON thank youBig Smile [:D]).  along with the few things i picked up at the show i got SPR on DVD, and an MP3 player with 2gig space.  I was looking at ipods too ( they did ask my preference) but i wasnted a radio, and besides, ipods are just obnoxiously expensive for what you get.

anyway, thats it from this front.  happy easter, and happy landings....

Good for you. What model of camera did you get?  I too just got a new camera. It's a Cannon PowerShot A620 7.1 megapixle, 2Gb memory card. Cost $400 though....  I could have bought 10 sets of frulies!  Oh, well, the thing takes incredible detail shots so it was worth it.  I should have pics of my 1/48 Skybow Tiger early up soon.

well, I've been working on the 2nd Armored Figure's face.  I figure I'll get it done, then attack that camo pattern, which is gonna be a real problem.  I hope I can get it done in a week or so.  (yeah, right...)

hehe office space....great great movie....

one thing about the birds color...its too glosy...the original bird is a flat black cuz its "stealth" and the paint adds to the stealthiness....and radar blockiness......k....

"where were you yesterday??"

"i stayed home and did absolutely nothing.....and you know what it was everything i thought it would be.."

thats my sss...sstapler. Laugh [(-D]

tao, A suggestion on the pics, try putting some white printer paper underneath and behind the model then put a desk lamp over it for light. This will show alot more detail in pics. It might be hard to take pics of a balck model to, I've never tried but it seems like it would be difficult. Have you began painting yet? (its hard to tell) I noticed some of it was still primed. Looks like you are progressing nicely so far.

that bird sure does dwarf the huey!

god, i did not do ANYTHING today! had to stay home cuz i was sick, so i just played tony hawk pro skater for countless hours.....jeez, this is so depressing,  and im procrastinating again, and the SATs are in a week and, and, and....

i feel like peter from office space...im takin it easy just waitin for the inevitable of everything i didnt do crashing on top of me...

Tell you what sergei. If you load that su-85 with some filters I think the color would look just great. First meld it with dark yellow dark green and dark blue, and maybe some red. Let it dry for 48 hours or so, then use some light and dark brown filters. (And regular oil wash too). Now dry brush- Then use your normal weathering (you know, pigments, airbrush, rust- that sort of thing) and the color should look spot on.
