Anyone who tells you any country had a constant paint color in WWII should be institutionalized. Paint pigments vary, some mixed in the field, some in factories etc.

so both of the companies are right. Now if its close to the Russian stuff I would have no idea.

Yeah, russians shouldn't be using olive drab anyway. IMHO the su-85 looks closer to the proper color for russian green, but it's a tad too light. No matter- anyone who tells you the Russians had a constant paint color throughout the war should be institutionalized.

Question: Which one is the real olive drab?

Answer: Both.  First off, the Russians didn't use American olive drab unless we sent it to them with some of the lend-lease vehicles.  They had their own color.  Second, paint batches, wear and fatigue, and fading of the paint, produced a cornicopia (big word- means a lot ) of hues of greens.  you could probably get away with both colors.

Um, I had a lot to say but the computer deleted my post.

Question: what color are these 2 tanks painted?
Answer: Olive drab. both of them. I dont know which, but one of the paint companys must have screwed up big time. Which one is the real olive drab?

Looks good sergie. Doesn't look cold enough to be in Russia though Laugh [(-D] Jk.

For mud, there was an article on making mud in the Last FSM issue. Its really easy and works great.

As for snow on the vehicle, depends. Do you want you dio to take place when its snowing or not? If you want it to be snowing you could put a light coating of the stuff on. Be sure to keep it off of the engine deck though. I cant speak from experiance for snow on vehicles but I would think it would melt off quick if the vehicle was running.

I see, Comrade. Must keep a low profile....UNTIL WE STRIKE!!!
...
what? err, umm, excuse me, yes.

Yes, it really is pretty...bad...It has no depth, and the tree is just sticking out, and I need to find some way to make mud everywhere....

Well, The BMP is finish, everything is on it at least. as for the weathering, im afraid that wont be finished yet, but the build itself is done.

One final question: Are you actually supposed to put scenic snow on the model itself?

dio looks ok from here, but I'll take your word on it comrade...

P.S.-sergei, might need to edit your post.  "no profanity" my friend.  not that I mind it, but those upstairs do...

Im Working again!

I went on a spree of buying model kit stuff and So I was able to do some building...

Actually, its STILL not done. Its missing a shovel, and the weathering is messed up because i weathered different parts of it at different times. For instance, i have a line of rust running down the side into....nothing. And it sort of got screwed up a little when i put the scenic snow from that bad diorama onto the tank itself. are you supposed to do that? I neeed halp with that diorama. It is bad. I hate it. it must go...later. for now, its all I have.

Also, in my spree I got a 1:72 Mi-24 with what it claimed was "russian spetsnaz". It turns out that, instead of the 2 or 4 small figures I was expecting, the kit had:

Yes, thats 50 small rubber army men. they have BASES, for gods sake! well, at least I can say I have Russian army men...that require painting...Angry [:(!]

Well, anyway, I'd appreciate advice on...anything....

Stalin was a mad man. While I sort of support socialism, when you start killing millions of people just because a) you feel like it and b) they're smarter than you, there's some sort of problem. School tennis strats tomorrow, so i dont get home til 6 every day. yippee...

yeah, well. on the interesting side, I think the T-90 has about 75 work hours in it now. Quadruple that, and that's about when it'll be ready for paint.... seriously. (no joke involved)

all the parts for the GI fig are primed save the wall.  im re-finishing that to make it look like stone rather than brick.  Im using tamiya putty.  I now know what they mean when they say "It shrinks..."  something like 5 coats and im still getting those little valleys where the brick joists were.  yep, barrels of fun....

i wish i could go to europe again....

looking at the projects here in chitown ( the ghetto) i see its exactly the same as about %60 of gdansk's houses look like that....depressing, and gray, nothing to do, fear of getting killed by rooting for the wrong soccer club (well, more in krakow) damn communism and the horse it rode in on....

anywho,, my progress....small, alittle more weathering...ill maybe apply another black wash and a sienna wash and then ill be set.. ill post pics once i gain the energy to get the camera

oh sure, brush it off, thats only an area filled with history and old WWII and cold war equipment, nothing interesting....

thanks reb, im hoping to get more done this weekend.

toa, id glue them in, cut masks for them, and seal the masks with liquid mask.  that makes sense to me, and ive seen it done a lot.  maybe yuo dont need to use both at the same time, but either mask will work fine I think.

ok, so here's the latest work on the bunker.  the turret is fixed in position, the barbed wire is in place, the figs are slowly coming, I scracthed a smoke stack for a "stove" in the bunker, and I'm making a second sign to read 'Minen!'

Pics:

...this  is the barbed wire

...this is the stack

...and here is the armature to become the one guy's arm.

That's all folks!!
