Ok, so it's time to start the assembly and get a move on with this build. Today I'll give you pics of the finished engine and swing arm assembly and tomorrow I'll hopefully post picture of the naked bike fully assembled.
What's new on the engine? I've added throttle cables. These would go into a box underneith the tank on the real bike but that won't fit so I've stuck them away at the clutch cover. On the left side you can spot my most expensive piece of plastic. I had to buy a new mold tree to get the sprocket cover that I've misplaced...10 USD plus shipping... Lucky I needed some primer... I sprayed it Alclad II Jet Exhaust, covered it partly with some SMS CF and put some Model Factory Hiro rivets where there was originaly molded in ones.
Looking through a R1 service manual I found loads of extras that I would have made if I had the manual when I began the build. Now I'll stick to an extra radiator hose on the left side and to rebuild the clutch (not visible here).
I finally assembled the rear swing arm and I think it turned out just dandy! Caliper got some rivets installed on the top side and I then glued the brake disc and caliper in place on the rimb using super glue. To get the right fit with the tire I had to make a spacer out of styrene rod. Looking at the right side you can see that I've drilled the screw head down into the rimb and I will later cover it with a plastic bolt.
The fender is painted Metallic Grey (same as the tank) and then I added some CF in the middle. I pinned it down with some rivets.
Brake line is .6 mm fishing line painted gun metal.
Chain guard got some phillips head bolts as fastners.
Hope you all like it.
