NOW THAT IS SWEET Wink [;)] but with the shape of the P-40 I thought you might go for the Yak-15 concept like this. Nice job Zip Big Smile [:D]

I got the idea from jwb in the aircraft forums. He was building a P-40 and a Me262 just for fun he put them on the table switched wings and took a picture. I thought this one looked so cool I asked him if  I could use his idea. I had both kits in my stash so here it is so far. I thought the hard part would be fittin gthe wings but that was the easy part. the hard part was figuring out the landing gear because I wanted to keep it a trike. I had to engineer the nose gear wheel well and also shorten the nose gear abit so it would sit right and ad weight. I will be taking pics this weekend hoping to finish the building part of the project.

Thanks

No ordinance this time the japanese would want to keep the airframe clean to get the maximum performance out of the fighter

heres the backstory
In mid 1943 the Imperial Japanese Navy carrier forces were hard pressed in the face of newer american and allied aircraft. Aircraft such as the Grumman Hellcat, the North American companies new Navalized P-51 Mustang, and the Hawker Sea Typhoon. In the face of devastating losses Japanese aircraft manufacturers began reevaluating the predominant design concept of "lighter is better".A rapid and in depth study of recovered allied wrecks and samples of aircraft from their German allies, showed the rugged construction of the enemy fighters was instrumental in pilot survivability. Armed with this knowledge the engineers at Mitsubishi built three different fighter designs using standard japanese engines, all of which were woefully underpowered. At this time the Mitsubishi engineers had the opportunity to study a Republic P47 Thunderbolt captured INTACT! The engineers were amazed at the speed and power of the monsterous American fighter. With this information that the higher power of the larger engine would offset the weight of the aircraft, they designed a large double row 16 cylinder radial engine to be installed in the #4 fighter design. the performance of the new aircraft even with a very heavy armament package as well as armor for vital components was outstanding. The first A4U/M-1 armed with two German designed 20mm canon as well as four 7.7mm machine guns. The first operational debut of the A4U/M-1 was at the attempted US landings at Leyte gulf where a force of over 400 IJN and IJA aircraft including 165 A4U/M-1 Kaizoku fighters in a drastic reversal of "The great Marianias turkey shoot" downed over 700 American aircraft alowing Admiral Ozawa's "Sho 1 plan" to drive off the american task force. The victory at leyte was not without serious loss as almost all Admiral Nishimura's southern force was Decimated in the night battle of Surigaio strait. The northern forse of Admiral Takao Kurita under an umbrella of IJN fighters including 80 A4U/M "Kaizoku"(pirate) fighters fell upon the Leyte landing force scattering them and making the landing impossible. However in japan The Emperor as well as many other high ranking officers and officials reailized that Defeat while now longer in coming was still inevitable. when the emperor called for peace negotiations prime minister Tojo attempted a Coup,The Coup was defeated and Tojo was executed for treason. With the death of tojo the Emperor was able to negotiate a peace with the allies in late 1944

Certainly an interesting idea for a GB, and some darn fine examples so far!  If I may, I'd like to hop in? I have a couple spare kits I've been looking for something differant to do with, and one of them has given a splendid "what-if" idea.

Zephyr,
Join the club! there's plenty of time. Just let me know what kit you'll use so I can post it.

Sorry guys I haven't been monitoring like I should be. It's been a busy summer. Hope to see some more progress pics and I'm actually about 50% into my build.

I'm doing a little something to a Bf-109E, Matchbox I believe. Almost done with it, so I should have a pic or two posted in a few days....I hope. Just got back from a weeks vacation on tuesday (went to Dragon*Con......yeah, I like Sci-Fi and am a card-carrying Browncoat. Wink [;)] ) so I'm still trying to recover from the vacation, unpack things, put all the nifty swag I scored away and do laundry. But the plane is near done.

Hey guys,
Here is my project. I chose to create another paint scheme for the Jolly Rogers Corsair. I emphasized the skull and crossbones  and added some "flash" using BMF for the underside. The skull was done with a homemade stencil and some hand painting. The BMF was a challenge but turned out well, I thought. Hope you enjoy. Can't wait to see all the finished productsBig Smile [:D]

Ok I know its been awhile but I am back on the P-262C kit bash. I am so close to finishing it that I am now on a mission to finish it. I will go back with pics as to give you a little recap.

The kits

The first steps

Then main construction

And my recent progress. I sprayed on the base top coat. MM ANA Deep earth after I spayed the light grey bottom coat.

And there you have it. Almost done. While waiting for paint to dry I painted the canopy sections. I have the another color to apply for the camo. Then a coat of Future for applying the decals, then a coat of clear flat. Then the usuall little bits ( landing gear and covers, guns, ect.) So any question, or critiques are weclome.

Thanks for looking

Gosh I'm having a hell of a time trying to get decent pics with this cameraAngry [:(!]

Now I'll let it set overnight and tomorrow I will spray on the Future.

Thanks

Ya know when your football team sucks as bad as mine you have a lot more time on Sunday for modeling. I couldn't wait til tomorrow to spray the Future so I didn't, I made it all shiny and ready for decals. This is the stage of the build I think the model looks the worst. Even  my wife notice. Is that the way it's suppose to look?Laugh [(-D] Wow I did't take this many pics on our vacation!

Thank you,
