Not quite big enough to transport the tanks but, yes it would have been spectacular. Track gauge is only 32mm and scale is 16mm to the foot, 1/19th.

Hi Tankmech and welcome to the forum.

From the Tiger pics on your website you have what are generally called the "newer style gearboxes with black covers for the Tiger 1." Gear reductions for them can be obtained from a few different sources. Read back a few pages and then take your pick of supplier. Either will confirm from the pic that this is so and liaise with you regarding your desired scale top speed. It can vary a bit with different pinions, motors, etc.

As to a belly plate, just email Whitewolf direct and he will provide you with all the info and the belly plates too.

Hello Guys,
Im new here so be nice to me. Ive just got back into 1/16 tanks after having an original Sherman from a long time ago. Have been into large scale trains and these still are the number one hobby but a friend spotted that Sherman mouldering on a visit to the railway. Dragged it down, fitted a battery and the thing still ran so at a later visit we had a play. Always wanted a Tiger so when same person suggested E-Bay I thought, yeah, why not. I now am in the throes of re-building the original Sherman, a new 56013 Sherman and the Tiger, all to be R/C. Boy is this some kit. Ive read all the pages here and have come across some brilliant tips and ideas from you more experienced modelers. Ive got to the part where the tracks and wheels are on temprorary, just so I can play a bit and the turret and uper deck are being painted and fitted with all those small items. No chance on any P/E, the originals are fiddly enough for me. One thing I would like to know, what gear boxes this monster is fitted with. In the front of the boxes there are three non brass looking gears. They do have short black covers on but no fixed slide like the Sherman ones. The only thing I do not like about this kit is the way too high speed and I think I need a pair of gear reductions but for which box ?.
Oh yes, and a belly plate perhaps ?.
And with regards to Skrull`s site being down, if you have a broadband connection with a static address why not use your own computer, just need Apache on it to serve the pages ?. Just a thought.

I had bad luck with the emails with BYA. I emailed him and left message on his phone, no call back and reply for two weeks.
I used paypal, and I requested refund through paypal and warned that I would put this story on my website. then I got an email. his email was not fast, at least to me.

He is fast, and for those outside US borders, ~is~ willing to 'adjust' a waybill to make border crossings less painful, but there are downsides too.

I've noted sa few items that worry me: a trend of his prices being higher ~without~ shipping than BYA's are ~with~ shipping; painfully well-padded shipping costs; and tacking on PayPal fees if you use it to order.

I found it cheaper recently to have someone pick parts up from him at Danville and have it shipped with something else from that third party.

I can't say much about BYA... haven't ordered from them yet, but may end up that way. Their e-mails were always fast and for the most part courteous & helpful.

I guess its a trade-off...

I had no problems with bob; I purchased the upgraded suspension kit for the tiger 1 and other items with fast delivery.

No need for the thanks, I am just telling the truth.

Do not fear, I shall be there to witness the Jagd, gotta get a camera and video camera (or hopefully convince a friend with far better skills than I to be there) but fear not I'm sure it will be well covered by all manner of folk in the UK with the intention of posting for all to see. These things are not likely to happen again in my lifetime and maybe even yours! You have to share it! I can't wait!!! Oh no, wet myself again...

As far as the Bovy Tiger is concerned, I believe they actually blew the very original motor completely, and beyond salvage in testing after the refurb! Something to do with the magneto's??? I don't know about real motors. The replacement motor (upgraded model) was actually taken from the Porsche King Tiger that was on static display (removed from the tank) there.

And to let all know, I have ordered a set of gear reductions from Willy for another one of my Tigers. After all, there is nothing quite like getting the best there is, direct from the person that invented them, is there? As I believe all those customers that have ordered "direct" from Willy already know and have posted elsewhere. And thanks Willy for your consistent innovation in this hobby and your willingness to share your information via your website. It is an inspiration to me.

these Weheco gearboxes are for sure nice ....
expensive , but well worth the money .....
I made a similar setup based on the old style Tamiya gearboxes ,
( including a all ballbearing setup ! )

and yes these HPC gears are expensive as well but worth it ,
and getting them from Bob cheaper ,
the reason for that is : since he buys them in larger quanitys .........
in your case of course it's kind a funny , buying a UK product via the US ....

these older style Tamiya gearboxes , if modified either with Weheco parts ,
or the way I did it , are fore sure much more durable as the stock new styles ...
I still run these modified old style gearboxes in my Tiger's .......
even thought a lot of cash involveld , I do this anytime again ,
nothing like a true to scale Tiger with unstopable crushing power .....

These gear reductions are so simple , there is nothing what needs to be improved ,
It just takes proper installation ..
if there is any noise then it’s only possible from not proper set gear-backlash …
either from the motor-pinion to the spur gear of the gear reduction ,
Or from the output gear from the gear reduction to the spur gear of the Tamiya gearbox …
Since my gear reductions are predrilled for each type gearbox ,
this backlash adjustment should be okay ,
Except if there is something wrong with the Tamiya gearbox itself …
What could be possible ,
since I have encountered that some Tamiya gearboxes are bend ,
therefore it will change the backlash between the gears …..
It’s also possible , since I made several versions of these gear reductions with different output gears from 11 to 18 tooth gears , that you may have ( just as an example ) a gear reduction what had at one time a 12 tooth output gear and someone changed it to a 13 tooth … this will decrease the gear-backlash and may result in higher noise ….
Hope these infos will help the guys having problems ,

Sadly, one of the Sherman sets is ~already~ reserved to a past KT & T1 customer. He was so happy when they arrived, he e-mailed me right away to reserve the set!

Tell us you're going to be there with a god video rig, and take some VCD footage like they did forthe Tiger during the Bovington run! I've got the startup clip... D*mn that beast was a pain to start.

Can you imagine what it was like to start those Mayback units in the winter? Now we know why they used the Kubel's as boosters to turn the engine over.

Re other releases:

I have sources that say we may be seeing new Allied & Russian ammunition stocks in the near future. Images & measurements were acquired, and have been sent to a machinist to have masters made, and then are to be sent on to the casters.

One thing that is still looked for is good data on the Brit Firefly barrel & brake. If you have one nearby that can be used for measurements, please let me know.

The Jagdpanther at London's Imperial War Museum was my first direct love experience with a tank! And, strangely I remember the first thing I did (besides admiring it's beauty from a distance and from several angles and smiling like a kid at Christmas and shaking uncontollably - and this was only a couple of years ago!) was to bang my fist really hard against the side armour to see if it was real ! Lol, it was meant to withstand more than my fist! (it still hurts)

Hi Tom,

I'm not sure yet, but once they're done, I can post some images here. The Tiger I will most likely be a PzAbt. 502, and the Tiger II will be PzAbt. 503 number 234, although I may go with a non-zimmerit vehicle at this point, I'm not sure.
