Well, I would certainly be interested in participating in this one! I have several Polish aircraft that I have in the queue to be built, and with this, it gives me an "excuse" to build one or more of them sooner rather than later.

Perhaps a PZL P-7, P-11 or Lublin R-XIII?

My Mig 15 went to the Soviet Jets GB. The only reason for that is that I have decals to do a camouflaged one, the only Polish decals I have for a Mig 15 a for a Natural Metal finish, which I didn't want to do.  If I can get through enough of the eight entries I've got to GBs at the moment, then I'll consider joining in here.
Cheers
Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Alrighty, I'll update the list. Don't forget, taxtp, this GB (like every other one I start) is open ended.

Good job Sturzkampf. I can stop twisting your arm no Tongue [:P]

I have progress on the Los, it's almost done with the exception of the bomb bay doors. There are 8 bomb bays, each with four doors. Ouch. Mirage Hobby's choice of 2 different plastic colours make it look weird. the undercarriage, right wing, front cowls and propellers are light gery, while everything else is dark grey. I'm expecting everyone is at work on their planes, oui?

The Los is finished, with the most annoying part being the deacls. Now I don't know what all the hype about Techmod is, but their decals SUCK!!!!!!!!! The undersurface checkerboards and "N" shattered like glass when I put them on, so the had to be removed and hand painted. The rest of the sheet was OK after I Futured it twice. A couple stencils drowned in my water cup, never to be seen again. Expect pics soon when my friend comes for a photo session today.

A couple of "newb" questions here. I've never participated in a GB here, this is my first. The GB symbol...do we put that in our sig after we finish our project, or now, as we have commited to participate? Also, are the models judged, or is it just something where a group of friends build something on a related theme and show the results off for each other to see?

Sorry if the questions seem a bit on the "duh" side. Big Smile [:D]

No problem, once you commit, wear that badge. And no, this is not IPMS, so your models will not be judged.

Actually, neither of those are Heller kits. I'm at work at the moment, so I'll have to wait till I get home and look at the manufacturer of them, but I believe they are either of Czech or Polish origin. The P.7 is a pretty basic kit, along the lines of the old Revell P.11c, but it about the only kit of a P.7 I've seen recently, so I got it. The Lublin looks a nice kit.

Just remembered, the P.7 kit is, I believe, a PWS kit. I also have a RWD-8 by them that I may do for this GB as well. Interesting little parasol wing trainer. Of course, though, you look at most Polish aircraft of the 30's, and it seems that virtually all of them were of a parasol configuration.

Well, I gotta go do some work now.

Revell????? P.11???????? Naaaaaaaa.....

Well, my P.11 WAS finished until my sister threw it on the garage floor, breaking  off a wheel and throwing it into the standard "black hole" outlined in the Laws of Modelling 101. So, the search will carry on tommorow. Other than that, all that remains is a couple of those damn Techmod decals. I Evil [}:)]Evil [}:)]HATEEvil [}:)]Evil [}:)] Techmod decals, they have to be coated with Future twice before I can wotk with them.

Yes, Revell did a P-11 kit. I have 2 of them in my "stash" at home.

The Lublin I have was put out by a company called Cena, Russian, I believe. Not a bad kit though, very little flash. May have to replace the decals though.

About ready to start putting the first coat of paint on my P-11, the basic Polish green/brown. I'm hoping to have it finished this weekend.

The RWD-8 (yes, I decided to do that one instead of the Lublin, for now), I got the fuselage together last night. Gonna check the seams and such when I get home from work, see if any putty is needed, then if not (and there shouldn't be, it was a good fit when I glued it together anyhow) go on to the wing, stabilizers and tail. As its a smaller, less involved kit, I'm hoping to have it done by sunday as well.

Being in a "Polish Air Force frame of mind" currently, thanks to this GB, I may even try and do the P-7 and possibly a P-23.  Smile [:)]

Speaking of the P-23, anybody know if any conversion kits in 1/72 have been done to convert the -23 to the P-43 used by Bulgaria? I know there wasn't much differance externally, just the location of certain exhausts and the like, but a conv kit would be so much easier than scratch building the parts, at least for me. If need be, I suppose I could scratchbuild them as I have some decent close-up pics of both the port and starboard sides I could go by.

Why not use the multi-media Mirage Hobby 1/48er? I have the WMC boxing (which you guys will NEVER get your hands on unless you vacation in Europe), which has superdetail sets in the box. I'm in the middle of it now, and like it very much with the exception of the outer wing to inner wing and wing to fuselage fits, which are cause fits of anger. Anyway, the search goes on for the P.11's wheel. Zeph, I'll update the list.

I saw the 1/48 kit, but I like to stick to just 1/72..that way I can have the "proper" perspective between all the various aircraft when I have them on display. Ok, silly reasoning, I know, but thats what I do. Wink [;)]

O alright. BTW, the basic boxing of the Mirage Karas is about 40 USD, The WMC version is 10 USD more. The Heller 1/72 is a mere 7 USD. Big price diff.

huh? Question [?]

Building aircraft, yup, thats fun. Pre-WW2 Polish aircraft? Its history! And fun.

Now, if you were referring to the "great lost wheel search", fun? Not so much. Funny on occassion, true, but not fun. And frustrating at times, even. Tongue [:P]

Curious now. Just what is the problem with Techmod decals? I have some I bought for my P-11's and my P-37, but I have never used them, as yet. This GB will be my first opportunity to use them. Is there something specific I should look out for with them? breakage? short periods in the water, or longer than normal? Don't want to start decaling my P-11 and have the thing tear up on me! Smile [:)]

O dear, it seams that the black hole swallowed my wheel, and that I'll have to order the True Details set (hopefully my mom will make my sister pay for it). Or, if anyone could send me a replacement, I'll PM you with my adress.
