Well after 13 months its finally done. A little late I know but.....I had a couple of other things come up along the way that slowed me down. Like a Commision build and my wife and I had a little 1:1 project to ..uhh..."build"....Anyway here it is:
Eduards 1/48 P 39Q profipack
Nice kit with only a few problems. The nose weight is nice and the PE set is great. I used Moskit Exaust which are VERY cool Shocked . I also used an aluminum tube for the 37mm in the nose cause the kit part was just a plastic blob. Confused The color in the pics is a bit off, im not real good at the white balance etc...when taking pics. So comments are welcome, and suggestions are incouraged. Wink Please tell me what you think I can improve or what I might have missed. Thanks. Cool

Yes, Jaypack...very nicely done indeed. THose are some great models you're turning out. I like the added detail (raido wire, etc.) in the P-39. It really adds a nice touch of realism.

Those are great pics! I love the weathering on the p 39 and the p 400. You should be very proud of those.

Very nice, Jay.  It looks like you have mastered weathering.

Hey all, got some good news! I was at the IPMS seattle spring show a couple weekends ago, and i entered my P-39 and P-400. The P-39 got the special award "Best 1942 Pacific Theater", so I was pretty happy.I also came away with about 15 new kits that I got for pretty cheap.

Here's a link to the show gallery: http://ipms-seattle.org/Springshow/2007SSPhotos/Aircraft/index.htm

My planes are pretty far down the list, and the pics aren't the greatest, but whatever.

*edit* I just checked, and here's the filenames for my models-

 0347

0349 (the ME-110)

0473

0474

0477

0478

0479

0480

Thanks for the link, Marc.  There are some very useful P-63 pictures that I would have liked to have seen when I built the MPM P-63.

I just wanted to say AWESOME job everyone! I though about joining up but I have 3 other GB I'm working along with a couple of others on another site. Besides - all I have is the old Monogram kit w/ the Stalin's Cobras sheet.

Bud,

Great job on the !/72nd.  Agree with all the other comments, if you hadn't told us it was 1/72nd, I would have sworn it was 1/48th.

Matt, nice job on your Airacobra, too.  Camo complements the planes lines well.

I love the teeth. I think most inline engined planes look better with teeth. Well done.

Here a couple of photos of my completed work.  It is built OOB, except for the "jumpin - jacques" name.  I didn't do any weathering, and I may have taken some liberty with the camo painting.

I don't have the manual to prove it but almost certainly there was a quick release that separated at least one of the doors at the hinges and then the slipstream would carry it away.  That is normal practice on airplanes where parachutes are carried.  It's usually the case with canopies too.  Seems like on all the gun camera film of 190's going down the canopy flies away, doesn't it?

Is it OK if I ask all of you P-39 nuts a question?  How does a pilot bail out of a P-39?  I mean, it must have been hard to open one of the doors at speed.  Just opening a door on my car a little to pull it closed at 45mph is tough, how the heck did they manage it at the speeds they were flying?
