Thanks Bob! I'm very glad you like it. I am pleased that I got this finished here. Thanks for the great compliment.

I know you can do it too. I've been looking forward to seeing your Tiger.

Congrats on finishing your build Duke!  Your Panther turned out great!  Cool [8D]

Just out of curiousity, how big is it?  Like 4 or 5 inches long?

Thanks Scott! Yeah, it's four inches long not including the barrel. I'm glad you like it.

Well, I gave into temptation and ordered the Voyager PE set for the Tiger.  If all goes well with my three open builds, I'll have an SOP of late March/early April.  I'll be building the 1/48th Tamiya Hetzer (Tank Hunters GB) at the same time-able to prime & base coat at the same time...it's an 'economy of scales' thing....

Heh. Bob - I've recently tried to get a couple (well, maybe 4) kits going on the bench at the same time to test the "economies of scale" theory...it hasn't panned out so well for me. Rather than accelerating my build speed, it's brought it down as a flip-flop from kit to kit, having to remember what I have and haven't done, what still needs to be done, etc. The economics major in me realllllly wanted it to pan out, too. Laugh [(-D]

Back to one at a time once I get the bench cleared off!

Cool deal, I'll update the main page!

On another note, here is an interesting interview with Fritz Langanke talking about his experiences with his Panther Platoon (2nd SS Das Reich) fighting against the allies during Operation Cobra.  Cool [8D]

Fritz Langanke has been interviewed History and Military channel programs... always cool to hear him relate his experiences.  Smile [:)]

That's interesting Dupes. I do that all the time, except with about 7-9 kits at a time and I finish quite a few much faster than one at a time. In the last two and a half weeks, in between my 45+hours of work five days a week, I finished thirteen models. Two of them were one-day builds as they were so simplistic, but still that leaves 11 more that took several days. Maybe your inner economics major is right and you should give it another try.

Regardless, I love looking at your workk, it is all so incredibly good. Keep building whether it'll be one at a time or ten, your work is always worth the wait!

Wahoo!  The build has started.  I primed the hull (metal-1/48th Tamiya), road wheels & the tracks of the Tiger a few minutes ago.  With a bit of luck, I should be able to paint them tomorrow.  Made the mistake of purchasing the Voyager PE kit for this build-nice stuff but I'm sure that it will slow me down.  Without it, this would be a quick build.  Only dislike with the kit is the molded on tools-will challenge my painting skills.

Work on my StuG for the Hunters GB is going to come to a dramatic halt after today as I anxiously await the arrival of the Eduard Grill screens I ordered today.  I will focus a lot on my JagdTiger for this GB this week, with the goal being to have the assembly completed by the weekend at the latest so I can get some paint on this beast!

Here is a great link I stumbled across while googling for decals...... some great summaries of many of the tank aces we're focusing on for this GB.  Much of it is summary info from Panzer Aces, but good reading regardless.  Cool [8D]

Thanks for the link Scott.  A lot of good info there.  This one is a GB subject that I would like to see come back 'round again soon.  Of course, I would need to get my current Tiger finished first....Whistling [:-^]

bump.

Well, a little progress-the chasis & turret are close to being complete.  The road wheels have been 'first pass' painted and need to be attached.  The 1/48th Tamiya Tiger is nice, but I don't like the molded on tools.  And some of the small parts are even smaller.  Also, using PE may not have been the best idea that I've had lately.  PE fenders are on, and I'll probably just use the PE exhaust shields and rear fenders.

Hey Guys! Looks like there's not much time left for this GB so I'm going to start working on my Leutnant Rihard von Rosen's King Tiger and try to have it done in time! It's been sitting around for over a year and it's become a definite shelf queen so I've been itching to get back to it! Here's a photo of how it looked back in April 2007:

I'll post updated photos as soon as I get more work done on it!

Wow, is that weird or what...I JUST finished up a MiG-21 for another GB, and moved my King Tiger from the shelf over onto the bench. Got on the forum to see what was going on, and Bufflehead is 2 minutes ahead of me. SPOOOOOOKY! Alien [alien]

Shouldn't take too long for me to finish her up, all of the tools and weathering are left to go. I also plan on making an attempt at a pair of figures, but you all may or may not see them. Heh...Whistling [:-^]

Too funny, I'm going to A/B my StuG for the Hunters GB, then assembly is starting up again on my JagdTiger for this GB.  Laugh [(-D]

Ok, I seem to have ground to a standstill once again.  Going to try to add the road wheels & treads tonight.  Tomorrow is booked with family activities.  Leaving to go out of town next Wednesday for four nights....gonna be tight to get this one complete by the end of the month.

Would love to see this theme again, but maybe next time over in the Armour forum?  Seems that a lot of the armour builders don't venture over here in the GB arena.  Just my My 2 cents [2c].

Bob - there's a very sizable post about that over in the Armor forum right now (starting with a complaint about having too many GB's in the Armor forum to start with!)...you should check it out.

Getting some work done on the KT, and the weather looks very iffy this weekend - so a bit slow on the cycling front. Should equal some decent productivity! Big Smile [:D]

Dupes-thanks-I saw the posts earlier.  No easy answers.  And my level of participation in this GB is my fault-overcommittment in other GB's.  However, this topic has such potential-I really think that it would have stayed busier in the armour forum.  Maybe not.  But it seems that a lot of the armour folks stay strictly in the armour section...and that's their choice and that's fine.  Again, just my My 2 cents [2c] worth.

Good luck on the KT-looking forward to some pics.  I've got the Tiger sitting on the table, looking at it as I type just wondering if the Germans would have held out longer if their tanks had fewer road wheels.....Sigh [sigh]

I've been in the same situation as you Bob.  I way over commited myself to other builds over the past year and lately a lot of my free time is taken up by writing for Armorama, so I've kinda left my JagdTiger back burner for a long time.  Sigh [sigh]

Road wheels are on and half of the tread is complete.  Neat little jig for the 1/48th Tamiya treads.  Still time consuming though.  One thing I dislike about the 1/48th kit is that some of the tools are molded onto the hull-another challenge, right?

I have 9 published, and 3 more that will be published in the next couple of days.  I have others stacked up right behind those.  Book reviews, in box reviews and I'm almost done with a feature article.  Fun stuff, but it does take a lot of time.

Yeah, I bet. So do you have to provide your own "review materials" or does Armorama do that?

That's classified information.  Taped Shut [XX]

Actually, some of it is provided by the vendors and others are stuff that I bought.  It's a good way to build my portfolio, so to speak, so hopefully I can get some things published some day.  Big Smile [:D]
