Hold on Scott!  You haven't even started the Jagdtiger yet??  OK, now I feel a whole lot better for not doing any work on my Von Rosen King Tiger!!  LOL!!

No kidding about all the great GBs!

No problem Bob, I'll change that for you.  I can relate with the too many GBs going on.  I'm a glutton for punishment and always sign up for way more than I should.  The problem is there are too many great GBs out there.  War in the Desert, Winter Warriors and so many other fun ones.

I keep putting off my build for this GB since the deadline is still a few months out, but sooner or later I need to get that JagdTiger on the bench!  Whistling [:-^]

Glad to see we're starting to get a little momemtum in this GB.  Smile [:)]

Too many GB's? Is there such a thing??? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Bob, if you need some help banging out some kits, send me a couple. Keep in mind that airbrushing and PE are my strong suits, decaling definitely weak. Weathering is so-so. Wink [;)]

Ernest-looks good-looking forward to seeing the painted product.

osjohnm-You're off to good start.  Keep on plugging away.

Scott-I'm bogged down in the day to day activities of life at the moment, along with too many GB's I'm trying to juggle.  I pulled out the Geprg Bose Dragon StuG last night...very nice and DETAILED kit....one of those kits that would be best worked on over the course of several months....therefore, switch my build back to Kerscher's Early Tiger-Tamiya 1/48.  I may pick up the Voyger PE kit.  I'm at that point where I need a 'quick win'.....

Thanks

Bob

Hi all

I've eventually started my build, only assembled the wheels and the tracks so far.
200 indy tracks later:

Going to attempt Biffa's method of painting the tracks on the tank as opposed to off it.

I also noticed that I attached the wrong wheels directly behind the idler, should be the small ones (not sure of actual term) instead of the big ones. Oh well too late now.

Looks great Bufflehead! I got a helpful suggestion: take the tracks off and paint and rust them off the tank. That way it's easier to do. I first paint them flat black, then I apply a heavy rust wash and wipe off the surface with a paper towel while it's still wet. That leaves the rust in the recesses. Then I'll drybrush silver/steel on the raised detail. Voila! Well-detailed tracks!

Also, it's easier to paint the interior detail in and around the wheels without the tracks on.

Looking forward to seeing more progress done on this! Thanks Bufflehead!

Thanks guys. Yeah I didn't see any of these spots because I was building at night in a semi dark room because my desk lamp had broken. These all showed up even to my naked eye in the bright sunlight of broad daylight. They're fixed now. I'll post more when I get more work done.

Thanks again for the great comments guys!

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]  Nice work Duke.  It is amazing that the camera points out areas that we normally can't/don't see.

Other than the few missed spots it looks great Duke!  Funny how a photo makes it much easier to see issues than when we're looking at it with the naked eye.  I've found many of my mistakes that way.  Laugh [(-D]

Okay, here's my Panther with a Dunklegelb basecoat:

You can see where I missed alot of areas. My shop light broke so I was working in only the ambient/main room light at night. Couldn't see very much at all. Time to get that replaced. I'll get this touched up and move on.

More pics coming later.

Ah, finally I get to post some progress pics! Here you go:

This is my 1/72 scale Dragon Panther with Zimm. I'm building it as a Panther used by Hans Malkomes Pz Abt 1, Pz Rgt 1, 1st Pz Div "LAH", Normandy, 1944.

I did the upper hull and turret first:

Then I did the roadwheels. This is the upper and lower hull test fit together:

It looks like she's ready for P/E and then paint. Thanks for looking and comments are welcome.

And especially, thank you to Lethal for the information!

These forums are addicting!  Shock [:O]

You think? Clown [:o)]

I just started trolling and stumbled across your really sharp builds. Saddler, love that kitty. Camo is excellent. Dupes, that KT is going to be a wiener when done. Scott, congrats on the well deserved award. Been wondering where ya been.

Thanks Ernest.  Reno got pretty hammered, especially in my neck of the woods.  We live in the upper elevations of NW Reno and are pretty much on the edge of town butting up against Pevine mountain so we always get it way worse than the folks down in the valley.

I know you all got pounded with a lot of rain and had flooding in areas.  Did you hear about the levee break in Fernley NV that created quite a flood?  I think about 800 families were affected if I remember the news story correctly.  Fernly is only about 30 min. from Reno.

I'm hoping to get some model time in soon (and some forum time for that matter!)  Again, I apologize that I haven't been able to stay on top of the forums like I usually do.

Wow Scott, didn't realize the big storms dropped off so much snow in your area!  Here in the Bay Area we just go hit with torrential downpours and high winds!  Sorry about the loss of modeling time, but I'm glad to hear you're OK otherwise.

That's some nice figure work Hermisminiatures!  I would love to see a tutorial from you!  Bow [bow]

Sorry for my absence over the weekend.  I spent the entire time shoveling snow!  We got hammered by that massive storm that pounded the west.  I swear, that's all I did was shovel snow starting Friday evening after work and ending late yesterday afternoon.  It was a great workout but took all the fun out of Saturday and Sunday.  I had no free time to work on my models or stay on top of the forums.  Sigh [sigh]

Mini-update today, only got a few things done, but I've been messing around with my little photo booth and taking a lot of pics. Decals are on, am working on the tools right now, and then it's on to weathering! Sadly football is keeping me off of the bench, so I'm doing monotonous assembly work on my winter Panther while the games are on (read: road wheels and suspension)...but this week I should get to start weathering the KT!

Hermes, you don't happen to have the fig tutorial done, do you? I'm going to need it in about a week, tops. Laugh [(-D]

Uh oh...don't know what I started here! Laugh [(-D]

1) I'm in for the "I Figure I'm Afraid of Figures" GB. Absolutely!

2) Hermes, I would read your acrylic tutorial over and over and over...If I could get my figs to look anywhere near as good as yours, I would be ecstatic! Since I only have a very basic understanding of the "oil paint" method, forgetting it to learn the "acrylic" method shouldn't be too hard. Wink [;)]

PLEASE tell me when and where you post it!!!

Good luck with the figures dupes!!  You're a better man than I!

Fortunately figures in the stash isn't a weakness of mine yet!!  In fact I have NO figures other what has come with the kits and I haven't even tried to paint one!  Last 1/35 figure I painted was nearly 30 yrs ago.  Shoot, it takes me long enough just to build and paint one tank.....

Hello...my name's Bob and I'm afraid to do figures....Whistling [:-^]

Maybe it's time for a Group Build for those who are afraid of doing figures....actually, I wish I had the patience (and skill)  to do figures....they add a lot to armor builds, imho...

Now THAT'S an idea Bob!  I think more armor builders would put figs in their AFVs if they knew how do paint them right.  We could call it, the "I Figure I'm Afraid of Figures" GB!! LOL!!

or not....Big Smile [:D]
