Allied Aircraft in Vietnam GB 1st of Feb 07 till 1st of Feb 08

I saw that you didn't get me posted on the participating list......

 Got started on the Cessna this week.  That is a small plane.  I also dug out some 'yet to be completed' aircraft that I'll show off here for all to critique; a F-4, A-4, A-6, A-7  I am leaning towards making them all Navy, maybe from the same aircraft carrier.

Will try to post a photo or two later when the camera returns (at a birthday party for most of the day).

Looking good Wiccan Warrior. I was able to get some work done on my Phantom. Cockpit is complete. OOB Monogram I decided to save my True Details cockpit for one of my Hasegawa kits. It's going to be built as Boots Blesse's A/C at DaNang 1967.

Here is my entry for this build sorry i havent posted more pics but i somehow lost the progress pics?? Anyway here is my 1/35 Panda UH-1H with Dragon weapons out of their Helo Crew set.

It is roughly 70% complete.

Your 1/35 UH-1H is looking good, im building the Revell 1/32 version, dont think i've been added to the group build yet. Not sure whether to go with the 1/35 Dragon weapons or get the cobra company mounts in 1/32.

I just finished the Revell 1/32 Huey still got three more in my stash to get started on.

The Panda huey is ok but there are a few obvious issues with it. I just love building Hueys.

Like i said thanks for the kind words and hopefully i can get this one completed as i am currently building the 1/48 Academy CH-53E. Is it BIG !!!

I've been asking if I could join the build with no official approval yet.  I did however get a yes from Kenny.  It's makes no difference with me who runs/monitors the build as long as the check in at least  once a day

Checking in once a day is a bit unrealistic.  I am hosting several GBs and I can usually stay on top of them daily, but there are times when I'm buried with work, family and other responsibilities and I just can't check in everday.  I'll be in Vegas in 2 weeks where I'll be out of contact for the most part for 4 days.  Life comes first.  Remember the hosts of the GBs have jobs, go to school, have families, travel, computer problems, health problems etc just like everyone else.  Just be patient. 

I have never seen anyone ever tell someone they couldn't join a GB.  Just get to work, and start posting your progress pics.   He'll be back in no time and will get you updated on the roster. 

Works for me   I feel blessed in the fact that my job (teaching) does not require me to leave town.  Plus I never have to work holidays, weekends or evenings.   With that said I will start looking for a good kit.  I was thinking of doing a OV-10 in 1/72 from Academy.  Any suggestions, recommendations or comments are welcomed.

I remember building an OV-10 Bronco when I was a little kid, we're talking like Kindergarten.  My Dad helped me, but I remember trying to brush paint the white on the wings.  It had more than a few fingerprints on it.. 

I'm not up to speed on the current kits, but I'm sure that by tomorrow someone with some knowledge on the OV-10 will be able to give you some suggestions. 

It has taken longer to get to this point than I anticipated.  But here are a couple of progress photos of the O-2A that I am working on for this GB (still not listed - Arrii 1/72 Cessna O-2A).

The kit is going to take some putty and sanding...

hi folks, the Canberra went down over Hue a couple of months ago, and it's taken me two months to crawl back to friendly positions

The cockpit is done (not a good one but I'm not a big cockpit fan), fuselage assembled and seams filled, flaps dropped and everything that should be chromate green is now done.

Bomb bay, wings and fueltanks are next on the list, as are some photos as progress reports are a bit dull without them!

Keep an eye on eBay.  That is where I got my Hasegawa 1/72 kit (haven't built it yet).  You might want to look at some other web sites that deal in older kits.  Hasegawa issued thiers back in 1994, and Hobby Link-Japan lists it as discountinued.  Have you tried www.classicplasticmodels.com yet?

This is the kit I will start tomorrow. It will be OOB except I need to add seatbelts to the rear seat, most likely I will use a decal I have for that

Sounds good grandadjohn I like building those older kits. I got some work done on the Phantom. It's painted glossed and ready for decals.

Your build looks good mkhoot.

Always enjoy building some of those old kits, somewhat of a challenge
