No problem.  And yes, I am looking for white ones.  I really appreciate your willingness to help me out!  I picked up some small dry transfers from the RR dept at the LHS, think I will be able to make them work.  Plus, it will force me to expand my skills by doing it that way!  So, you don't have to send your decals to me, but again thanks a bunch for the offer!  Great bunch of guys around here!

In fact, just got back here from the workbench...had to redo part of the seat. Seems as though the headrest common to Sea Hurricanes was not mounted directly to the bulkhead as I first thought. There was a triangular shaped piece of framework connecting the two. Don't worry though...it's been fixed.

A question for you guys. My corsair is going to be a MK II camoflage one - any idea on the color of the interior of the cowl? It doesn't really matter, just wondering if anyone knows the official.

Its that zinc/chome. (yellow/green) colour as far as I can tell.

I'm just guessing here but maybe the original cowl was repaired/replaced during the war? OR it was primed in what was availiable during the museum restoration?

Next time I'm down there I'll have to ask!

OK guys....here's an update on our Sea Hurricane. The 'pit is painted and assembled (except for the gunsight), along with the left & right interior side panels. I used MM Acryl RAF interior green, picked out the details with Jo Sonja acrylics, gave it all a shot of Future, applied enamel washes of dark earth, black, and RLM 74, shot the lot with Pollyscale flat, and finished with a drybrush session of camouflage grey, khaki, and a mix of burnt umber/testors silver. I also added a bit more wiring and correctly re-mounted the pilot's headrest. The IP was hand-painted with a few drops of Future in the gauges added for glass. The 'pit is hard to see when the fuselage is all buttoned up, so I figured I'd better show it now. Critiques, as always, are welcomed.

The office looks great!  Would you mind sharing your technique for the leather color on the belts/map case/seat pad?  I have tried different color combos on mine, but they have never looked as good as yours.  Please tell!

I'd be glad to, Frank! For leather, there's a few colors I like to use, ranging anywhere from a red/brown to a dark brown to an almost black color, depending on my interpretation of the base color of the actual item. A dark earth-colored wash and a drybrush with khaki or a very light tan over any of those and there you go! After much experimenting, I found that the wash and drybrush color were the key, as leather comes in so many different shades, but wears similarly regardless of its origional color.

The seat pad is my attempt at simulating canvas. I started with an olive drab and used the same weathering techniques as above.

Your work is outstanding!  The belts look as if they are real leather  I need to get to work on my Corsair and get some pics to the forum.  My detail will not be as good as yours for one your skill level far exceeds my own.  Plus the Corsair is 1/72 and when the fuselage it put together along with the canopy no detail would be visible.

Roy, I can't wait to see your Corsair (and yours as well, Frank!)....it's one of my favorite birds!....and you'd be suprised at just how much detail one can pack into 1/72. In fact, if you're interested, I have a 1/72 resin cockpit tub from True Details for the Hasegawa Corsair, complete with seat, gunsight, & IP, plus some acetate placards that I'd be happy to send to ya gratis if you feel like beefing your bird up a bit.

That would be most generous of you.  If there is anyway in which I can repay you please do not hesitate to let me know.

that cockpit is just superb! Beautifully painted and detailed. One of the finest I've ever seen. Love your technique's- I will have to try them out myself.
