Hey Frank, I am looking to start casting a few tings myself real son.  What I am going to do is use a resin starter kit from Micro Mark.  I don't know if you are interested, but here is a link to the kit:

Yes Frank, they sell the individual supplies seperate to replace what is needed as well.  As a matter of fact I read a tutorial in the FSM special issue that used the same resin, release and mold rubber (IIRC).  One thing to note (according to the article) when you crack the bottle open there is a limited shelf life to the un-used portion, so it is suggested you collect a number of things you want molded and do a big batch of things right away.  I have a bunch of things all lined up for when I get around to casting (a lot of 1/35 armor stuff like boxes, ALICE packs, Mauser rifles, and I just picked up two carrier kits, a USS Essex and IJN Junyo in which I want to cast more of the aircraft since 20 planes each is just silly )

For those vents, I don't know this for certain but most jets have supplemental air inlets which are open during run-ups and takeoffs.  Once the jet is at speed, they often close as the air coming in is enough for the engine.  They are usually shut when the jet is parked to keep FOD to a minimum.  Perhaps someone who knows more about that aircraft can help?

Well got the wings and just about all the major asseblies together and began painter the 1/48 Hasegawa Sea Hurricane all up. One of Frank's favorite schemes of the Dark sea Gray and Dark Slate Gray over Sky.

 So Far just have the Sky and Dark Sea gray on but it is progress! Getting a good finish with the paint to boot! Over the Tamiya Primer.

 Getting my $$$'s worth outta the MkIII point 7 paint stand. Pat Pending by the XO. Best $627.37 I ever spent Frank.

Only spot I have to touch up is the right wing as the plastic is slightly scratched where I had to remove some of the raised details off the wing that didn't belong. I use one of those fancy nail polishing files with the 4 surfaces that feel almost smooth as the grit is so fine but it does a bang up job on such repairs.

 Well have to nap for work again. Some time I may get time off. Hopefully timed when the PE and stuff arrive for the stringbags! No mail on Sunday booo!

I recently purchased the XOs slightly smaller paint stand for $599.00. It is a small styrafoam brick. I had to pay extra ($28.37) for the high speed low drag modeling sticks.

As soon as i get a chance to use it I will post pics.

Ok, I know I promised these a while ago, but you know how it goes.  Ya sit there in front of your computer and remind yourself "oh yeah, need to take pics the next time I am at the bench."  Then when you get around to the bench you go "what was it I was supposed to remember?"  Right?  Please tell me I am not the only one with a horrible memory!

I have a couple more pieces of Photo Etch to add, but will wait until the last minute before painting because they are some of the smallest and most fragile of the exterior pieces.  Besides that it is just maskign the canopy and the ordenance left before the big paint job!

Two words for the intakes FOD Covers.  If you plan on sticking with divine scale the Toko/Frog kit is it, it seems.

You sure you go to work?  The way you're knocking them out leads me to believe otherwise.  Got some of the pics back I took at Lone Star Flight Musuem last year and the Hurricane pics (the plane, not Ike) got me wondering if ya'll would like to see them.  Not much FAA stuff, but a lot of USN stuff.  Won't mention the partially naked F4U-5N, Frank wouldn't want to see them anyway.

Evil Herc- Glad you are enjoying your stand as well!   Boy, these things are selling like hot cakes now.  Especially with so many great testimonials.

Ritchie I got the PE today and it is perfect! Just what I needed. I'll wrap up the hurricane and catch that Revell kit right up!  You are right it will make the diff between night and day with that kit!  You da man! The parts aren't quite as scary as I had expected so I think I can use about 95 %  of what you sent!

Still waiting on the 1/48 Tamiya stuff though. Tracking # sez Weds delivery.

 Seaking of that divine scale stuff. Lewbud!  I do actually work. Really too much and my back is paying the price today. Had a breakdown last night that caused a sudden and violent stop that tossed me hard enough to break the seat and split the soul of my steel toe in half.  Not bouncing back from it as fast as I'd like to so I took the night off. Going to the doc tomorrow AM and see what the verdict is.

Everyone here is doing a great job.  This is one squeaky clean running ship!  That there Captain Bondo and our beloved CAG sure know how to steer a true course, even when sopped up on a gallon o' rum!  Now THAT is talent!!!!
