Darren that is simply amazing Bow [bow]Bow [bow]Bow [bow] and the others are right the base really does set the model off beautifully.

Build wise for me I have been progressing with the Sea Fury but I haven't had a chance to be on-line much at all lately due to real life commitments.  I'm off for a couple of weeks of (well earned) holidays next week so I'll post some snaps of the kit when I return.

Cheers

Very nicely done Darren.  The base is a perfect compliment to a great build.

I'll join in the toast.

Oh......All right then!

Gentlemen,

here is my Supermarine Seafire FR.47. This machine flew with No. 800 NAS, Fleet Air Arm from HMS Triumf  during the Korean War.

The kit is in 1/48 scale and made by Airfix. Its built OOB with the exception of dropped elevators, PE seat harness and a very generous donation of decals by our very own Frank. Thanks mate!Wink [;)]

Right then, here she is.....

Here is where my '46 is at.  Not sure how long it took my to mask the interior and wheel bays, but it was quite a while!  The airframe is mostly ready for a final primer coat, then on with the paint!  Modeling the flaps up proved to be quite a challenge!

Does anyone know what color the gear legs are on a Mk.46 Seafire?  I was pouring through my color reference photos, and have seen sky (like the undersides), the interior green color, and silver.  None of the photos are period photos, so the restorers seemed to have painted them any color they wanted.

Roy, that brings back lots of memories.  I was seperated from my wife and family for 3 months a couple of years ago when we moved to our current location.  Wasn't much fun for anyone but we survived.  Hang in there, it does get better eventually!

Yea but it was long :(  I just need my wife to get the house sold and move done here.  Once we get settled things will be great.

Darren-

Glad to hear that my friend, I really cannot wait to see her finished!  I worked on the '46 a little yesterday.  Spent about two hours masking the office and wheel wells so I could spray some primer to see what I have to fix yet.  I'll post some pics later today!  I've been working hard finishing my P-40 for the P-40GB, and the Do-335 for Wing_Nut's GB.  P-40 is done, and the Seafire and '335 are almost ready for paint! Thumbs Up [tup]

PM inbound! Wink [;)]

Sorry to hear that mate!  Sounds like canopies are a difficult part of this airplane. Sigh [sigh]

Which piece, the front or the sliding part?  I might be able to help you out...Wink [;)]

Hang in there my friend, have a spot o' rum and take a good look at the amazing models you have shared with us recently, and you'll feel better! Approve [^]

Bad news.Disapprove [V]

I unmasked my Mk.47 Canopy this morning and it looked terrible, I recon I did a pretty poor job of masking it so I have touched up the parts of the frame that I missed and when dry, I will clean up the mesy bits where the paint went under the tape......I'm gutted. If I don't fix this right, it'll ruin the rest of the build. I'm absolutely furious with myself.

I will concentrate on something else for a few hours, perhaps it will look better when I go back to it with a fresh pair of eyes.Sigh [sigh]

Darren- I received my canopy in the mail today in absolutely perfect condition!  I cannot believe how much better this one looks compared to the one in my kit.  Me thinks maybe the folks over at Airfix might have kept the good ones at home and shipped the not-so-good ones across the pond...Confused [%-)]

Once again our fearless leader has come through for a bloke in need!  Thanks to him, the pilot of this Spit will be able to see where he is going, instead of trying to peer through the bottom of a cracked, mishapen coke bottle-like canopy.  Much appreciated my friend!  Here's me in the shop with my newly-acquired canopy:

I cleaned up my bench for this shot, it's not usually this clean!

I happened to notice the addy on the back, giving details of the secret shop's location.  Do not fear my friend, I made sure that it was not visible in the photo and I will burn the envelope to protect it's identity! Big Smile [:D]

Oh, and it's the weekend gents.  I fear the cap'n might be away, so here's the weekly rum rations.  Wherever you are, cheers!

Frank ,

you're welcome mate! And thanks for protecting the location of the secret workshop! You will recieve the Tango1 Order of Merit for that.Approve [^]Thumbs Up [tup] I have been busy at work the last couple of days so thanks for dishing out the rations.Thumbs Up [tup]
