Fleet Air Arm Group Build

Small update on the Gladiator, Starting to assemble all the little piles of sub ~assemblys I have hidden out of harms way on the bench.

I hope to join the fuse halfs sometime this evening. Before I do I will go through both sets of instructions (kit & P/E) to make sure I have not forgotten anything.

You guys are scaring me...

I'd post a photo in an odd outfit with my optivisor on, but we all know the only outfit I own is that grey T-shirt, flannel, and jeans.

Aaron - yes that is the New Fence and Gate.   I like the history and breakdown of yours and Dee's casual wear. Perhaps after Sunday I will show a picture of me looking the business in Uniform...

Any more entrys from the rest of the crew or they all asleep already from sneaking Capt. Bondo's Torpedo Juice ? I have news for you guys - he quit hiding it in the potty bowl. What you got is not what you think it was..

Aaron - I need one of those Bazooka tubes

 Well I am wearing the standard sombero with a Hawain shirt that has Palm trees and tropical drinks on it. ( Thought it appropriate.) The pants have little rubber duckies on them covered Madonna style by a pair of boxer shorts with P-40's and red stars?  My foot wear is your standard steel toe Work boot and the Bazooka on the back is to fend off local swat teams.

The lawnmower is by Toro.

Dee is wearing a 1965 style combat fatigue with matching shorts and for some reason has rolled Namrednefs undies into headwear. The T-shirt is an old exercise uniform from the 1980's 24th Infantry division which gives her a whisper of the Trapper John look to gracefully suppliment Sean's Mash theme. 

Capt Bondo has a baseball theme going on with his face carefully ommitted no doubt to shield his identity from the authorities.

Teacher T just looks so dern serious!  Is that your new fence Sean?  With a white top and denim shorts to give a mountain girl next door feel to the group.

 Only thing I can add about Sean's pic is he is the only one showing legs that didn't shave em! But his Tatoo makes up for it!   A man who sensors his own arm!

Now who is next?  Guy? Ritchie? Dave? Frank and the optivisor? Perhaps a special appearance from Buddy. Talk is cheap gentlemen!     Times like this make me miss Nam cuz he would think of this as a normal attire.

Coming along swell, men! So far we are giving points for flowery things, military paraph., tattoos and dogs! What a mottley crew!!

Wow Aaron, your a stringbag wizard. I look at your WIP pics and hear mine in its box crying softly. Im loving the flowery dress my friend. Are you wearing a thong? As you look slightly ill at ease!! I think Seans Hawiian shirt looks fantastic along with the helmet. Shear quality. But i feel Aarons Ensemble takes some beating. Im not sure that i have any flowery duds for a photo. Ill have to see if i can rob any of Geris flowery undies to see if that would do?

Well she is one to talk! I just caught her out walking the Doggy!

So I think she likes the dog more than me!

Sean do they have those kinda clubs in in the woods there?  They probably wear parka's!

Why thanks fellows!  Ritchie I may just work on another and try and make some figures for the 1/32 Swordfish until your letter arrives!  When I saw  what you sent about the ROc and Skua I had wished I had had it all along as it would have saved a lot of looking!  Besides I worked over 12 hours today and it makes me a bit woozy and nutty!

 Speaking of which while I am in the mood I cannot let Sean claim the Prize unchallenged so I mowed the yard!  Remember it is close to 100 degrees F outside!!!

And the worst part is my mower is outta GAS!!!!!

Aaron- A 1/48 AND a 1/32 Stringbag at the same time?  WOW!!!  Very cool.  Just make sure you don't mix up any of the parts, otherwise it will look sorta like an Egg Plane.   LOL...

I like your progress pics, keep it up!  As for prop pics, prolly won't see any from me for a while.

Ack 1/72 scale is only for the divine like Ritchie, Dave and Lewbud!  Even the Cpt Bondo!  Sean!  Oh the horror of it all!

 Well Here are the same parts with color added as per the Tamiya directions.  Except for a bit of red and yellow added for jazzing it up.  I dunno what you think?  Look ok?

 Not to worry Ritchie as I am back to work with in the hour!  Things inevitabably slow up when I work 11-15 hour nights/into days.

Aaron - Wow Two Planes in different scales at once. You should add a 1/72 Swordfish to the build also... Now that would be Way Beyond Cool

I see "Little Nam" is over seeing the  project.  The kits do look identical except for the scale...

Gentlemen! To your stations please. The Gladiator has been shelved awaiting the proper Hamilton 2 Blade prop thanks to Sean!

 So that means the bench is free to break sprue once again!

 Time for another twin build but not quite.

 I have officially commenced work on the Trumpeter 1/32 Swordfish Mk I. Very nice kit but the directions are a bit busy and vague in parts location. This biggest hassel thus far is the painting instructions are confusing and don't match up from the instructions to the paint ref in the same kit?

No Issue as it seems that the 1/48 Tamiya Swordfish is the exact pattern for the larger Trumpeter kit thus far.

 So why not build them both side by side and compare is my motto!

 Finished step 1 in the Trumpter kit which is most of the  crew compartment.  This is equal to steps 1 thru 5 in the Tamiya kit. The parts are exact replicas of each other ceptin fer size o course. Thus far as is how they go together with the only exception being how the radio is mounted.

 The Tamiya parts of course being smaller are a bit more figity and tougher as far as clean up goes.

The lack of a crew is bothersome in the Trumpeter kit given Tamiya's fine rendition of figures but the Trumpeter kit does come complete with PE stuff for the rigging  where it is an extra purchase with Tamiya.  Give and take.

 I have it broke down into the sub assemblies I came up with to ease paiting but thought you all would like a peek!

Well, this here scallywag be heading off for 6 days vacation on the Maine coast in Acadia National Park.  I be bringing me plenty o' AvGas (Rum to any landlubbers reading this) so me modeling time drops down to nil until next week.  Despite lack of pictures the Harrier and Boston are indeed being built, so ye can't court martial me for bein' a sleep at the wheel.   I will get things squared away and some progress pics posted when I get back from me grand adventure!

 Well no luck with the CD but please don't worry Big E about it. He messaged me and I told him to please not go to any throuble that you would happily fill me in all all the details. Also you never said how much you paid that actress to pretend she was your imaginary GF?

 When you all get settled back into a  comfortable routine  don't worry there still will be a place for you at the Capt's table here.  Most likely under it or on the serving platter knowing him but hey it is all in good fun!  Don't be a stranger  and I like the new RA #2 GB as well!

 Hey while your having your tea and snoz berrys over there have a look for the CAG. Rumor has it he was kidnapped by a bunch of Sun Magazine model of the months eho have left him stranded in his skivvies somewhere during a fox hunt.

Hey all, Rememeber me? Ive still not managed to get back to the bench due to moving woes but im going back through loads of pages to see the great work your all doing.

Aaron is still the regimental machine, whacking out builds at an unbelievable pace. I personally reckon hes got a tag team going with himself and Dee.

Im loving Seans helmet...errr....that doesnt sound wrong at all. LOL.

Ill keep watching from now on and stop feeling sorry for myself. Aaron did you get the CD from Big E?
