the tracks are primed flat black, then brushed with burnt umber ,burnt sienna, iron oxide, rust orange, from the darkest color to the lightest.when dry the no.2 lead pencil for worn steel.it seems i follow no set pattern or technique, just try to achieve whats in my minds eye.the flat black is enamel the rest are acrylics.

well it's sat 12 jan..spent a good deal of the day painting and doing some scratchbuilding.the panzer IV j,which started out as an old italieri f-1/f-2/g .has really come along quite well.is probably the best three color camo.to date for me.also my very first try at the ambush scheme.the hetzer just happened to be there when the pzr 4 shook off the excess paint.i kind of like it so far.comments and suggestions always welcome.

All,

Here are a few update pics of my Tiger. To refresh, this is Dragon's 3-in-1 Late, the one with all the goodies. She's also got a Tank Workshop interior and my own Squadron Green Putty Zimm.

Much work remains. Some time this week or next, I will try to write more about this build. It's been easily the msot complex modeling project I've undertaken so far, and I'm learning from it every day, just about.

As always, comments and critiques are most welcome. I think I'm aware of most of its shortcomings, but hit me with them anyway (I may be missing a biggie).

Wow, that one great Tiger. Question though, what are all those spots on the top of the turret?

Thats a great Tiger model. You'd have to have some pecs to close that hatch on the back. Must of weighed 150 lbs. Or was it one time use- Ausgang only! Which is to say looking at your model, it feels like the real thing.

What is the plan for the treads?

Yeah, I sorta forgot too. Which is sorta stupid considering I started it. I'm probobly not going to finish on time because I'm getting ready to move to Marlyland, so I'm not going to start the kit until I move in the beginning of July.

Well you COULD push back the GB end time , but that's your call as facilitator.  No worries though!  I already started working on the M4A3.  I've read that this is an easy build so hopefully I can build it quickly!

Hi David. I need to change my entry in this one.

I was checking the allignment of the road wheels on my Achilles Mk. IIC when Mr. Murphy came through the door and bumped my elbow. She's now a parts pile.Banged Head [banghead] Sign - Oops [#oops] Censored [censored]

But I dug out a Tamiya Panther G (Late) and set to work, and it's almost finished.Big Smile [:D] I've been trying lots of new things on it and I am working on figuring out how to post pics, hopefully I will get them on here soon.

Thanks, Dennis.

I don't want to push bak the start date. This isn't one of those strict GBs. Just keep us updated with progress and such.

Well, I've finally finished doing everything I'm going to do to this thing except to make a simple dirt road base-but that's gonna have to wait for a bit. But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to post pics! I've uploaded them to photobucket but then I get stuck. Go ahead and laugh, but be warned that you will be laughing WITH me as I am the self-proclaimed poster child for computer illiteracy. Sign - With Stupid [#wstupid] Can anyone give me some help with that? I would like to show y'all what I've done so it can be picked apart, constructively of course, and I can figure out what areas I need to work on for the next one. Thanks in advance, Bullet--out.

since we can still join, I would like to add a 1/48 scale Pershing modified to SUPER PERSHING

It had a Tiger kill and maybe a Panther kill as well one of only two built and the rarity of having a "TRIAL BY FIRE"

Forest - it's generally expected that you would post some finished build pics...even better if you were able to post some of your work in progress! That way everybody else can give you a hand if you need it, or even learn from your mistakes - or the things you do right. Wink [;)]

Can you find someone to let you borrow a camera? Or put it on your birthday wishlist? You don't need a super-expensive model to take decent enough pics to post here. Smile [:)]

Wow, I didn't know there was still this much activity in this GB!  Cool!  I'm getting close to completing assembly of my Tamiya M4A3 so I'll post some pics very soon....maybe tonight if I can clean up the total disaster I call a workbench!!

Hey all, I think I may have figured out the picture posting issue. Hope they come through this time.

Anyhoo-oo, This is the second tank I've started in 25 yrs, the 1st being an Achilles Mk.IIC I was building for this GB but it didn't fair to well when I dropped it from eye level. I credit this fine magazine for keeping me in touch with the greatest hobby around while I was too busy working to sit down long enough to build anything.

Well, I wanted to call this unit "The Guinea Pig" because instead of breaking back in gently, I dove in head first and tried lots of new things, all of which I learned from this magazine and the artists who share thier knowledge through it.

The kit was Tamiya's Panther G(Late)-kit # 35176 and the only A/M on it is a set of Friulmodel tracks-kit # ATL-08. I made my own screens for the rear deck as well as making an antenae from a broken guitar string, and for the tow cables I cut the ends off the kit supplied parts, drilled them out and inserted a piece of picture hanging wire. Other than that she is OOB.

I know it's a mess compared to what I've seen some of you do, but I'm pretty happy with it overall-and I promise the next one will be better.

Let 'er rip folks, without some constructive critisism I won't know where to concentrate on improving.
