I have more WIP photos today!  This morning, I took my trusty Handi-tak and masked off my Spitfire.  I am planning on spraying the Dark Green this afternoon, followed by some postshading and highlighting on the fabric flying surfaces.  More to come! Big Smile [:D]

Excellent work there Darren!  Nothing looks as sinister as an all-black aircraft. Thumbs Up [tup]

Did you airbrush the plane over the top of the base?  Looks like the outline of a Spitfire on it. Big Smile [:D]

Thanks fellas, glad you like!  Looking at the photos, a lot of the subtle post fading I did is almost invisible.  I'm hoping that when she's finished, it will all come together.

Darren- Sorry to hear about the Seafire issues!  Sounds like you already have a plan "B" in the works. Thumbs Up [tup]

Frank,

the post-shading looks good to me.Thumbs Up [tup] I have done some work to my Seafire Ib and its been a real drag......one of the gear legs snapped in half!Disapprove [V]

Still, I have ripped some nice wheels from a Hase kit so hopefully I'll have this thing standing on its own feet soon. I plan to add the decals tomorrow and start work on a display base.

Gents- My Lady returned home today from vacation, and brought me camera!  SO, I have taken a pic of my Spitfire.  She's mostly Earth Brown now!  I did the pre-shade, but wasn't really happy with the end result.  SO, I did some post-shading and lightening with different hues of the main color.  Here she is, awaiting the Dark Green!  I hope to mask her this weekend and get started with it. Thumbs Up [tup]

hk- Shock [:O] I know what you mean, when it gets nice out it's difficult to stay indoors.

I had been doing small boring stuff like messaging seems and prepping canopys. I was about ready to mount the glazing and fair it in before paint when the weather turned really, really nice.

I drug an old Yamaha out of the barn and began the process of resurecting it from the dead and havent spent time on the Spit for a week. For shame!

There's some good stuff going on-I'll have to get the Seafire on the bench and post some WIP soon!

I masked off the underside on my Mk.I, and painted a few shades of Earth Brown yesterday.  Hopefully, will have some pics to share soon. Thumbs Up [tup]

Greetings All!

WOW there sure are a load of wonderful Spits here !!!  I have been away for quite some time and was wondering if were okay if I did post my submission (see first page "roster")  It is the trusty old KP Mk.IX kit in 1/72 scale.

I rescribed the panel lines used the salt chipping technique, some Falcon canopies and in the end hope to have a passable Egyptian Air Force Mk. IX.

Will post soon.

Make sure you do have a wire antena, otherwise remove the little hinge on the rudder tip

More progress on the spit. Working on the seams and got most of the airframe together. I used the rudder and elevator from the Hase kit and pinned them in place with brass wire as the detail on these looked better.

Yup, that would be bakelite. The first man made plastic, was known to be a bit brittle. As mentioned, it was a brown red color and had a natural satin finish.

Indeed, HK nice work on the cockpit.

The seat was a backelite (not sure on spelling) so the color would be brownish/redish.

One more thing on the cockpit - many people paint the crow bar in RED, In fact it was a natural color (interior green). Those were painted red after the war (or late in the war) if I am not mistaken.
