how are you going to do the zimerate on the Panther A?
on mine i want to do the vertical lines with squares

I checked my order status from Greatmodels and I'm a little cautious. It says they are searching for my Eduard barrel and tracks. I should have made sure they were in stock. I hope I don't get gipped on shipping again.

As far as the Dragon tracks are concerned, I'd probably use them, I just can't see paying more for Modelkasten tracks as oppossed to the kit itself. I like to be accurate, but not to the point of laying awake all night.

the other thing adout the dragon Panther tracks(i dont know if anyones mentioned this) is that they are missing the holes in the track horns
sometimes you can get away with ejector pin marks

Chris, sorry to see you go. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do! I've been wondering about this one myself. I'm still working on my Tiger from the 1/35th build (think I'm about the only one left!)

Eric (Tigerman, Pantherman...wherever or whoever you are today),
You mentioned about the DML tracks in the Panther kits. They look nice, very well cast, and actually look accurate (as opposed to their Elefant tracks), but one thing you gotta remember, every set of injection molded tracks I've seen (with the exception of the Elefant tracks), whether from DML or Tamiya, has had 3 to 5 ejector pin marks on every link. What a pain. The choices are to either ignore them or fill them. I've filled and sanded the "outer" ones on a bunch of the links and it really wasn't too bad. I think it's much easier to do that before gluing the links together. I really think I want to put a set of Model Kasten or Friulmodel on it. But Model Kastens are next to impossible to find, right now.

My list of parts for this build (assuming I don't try to do the DML with superset) is:

Tamiya 35065 Panther - This is their old, decrepid, late A kit
Jordi Rubio TG-10 7.5cm Kwk L/70 Barrel (got it before Eduard did theirs)
Armor Research 1006 Engine Deck Vent Screens (beautiful)
Armor Research 5003 Corrected Turret Tamiya Panther A - resin turret including a white metal barrel (won't use the barrel)
Moskit 35-04 Metal Exhaust Pipes (these are cool!)

I am may add:
Independent link tracks of some sort
possible Eduards pe set for this tank, if I can find one, but I'm not going overboard on using these parts. Just a few to "dress it up"

Has anyone found a source for a nice machine gun to mount on the commanders turret ring?

And my favorite icon... ...because that's what I feel like I'm doing most of the time!

but since it is my first armor kit, i haven't much to compare it to!

IIRC the Bovington "F" turet was used for target practice after the war and the part on the cart was about all that was left.

Laxman, I would go with the smooth mantlet casing since I believe you have the early Jagdpanther. I have seen the bolted casing on late model versions only. However, since you have both, it might be okay to use the bolted. Didn't help much did I?

Well I ordered my Tamiya tracks and Eduard barrel. Almost didn't order the barrel, but it's going to be an early Christmas present. As a bonus, I finally ordered the Dragon Panther A Late. Wanted it since I saw it. Almost sorry I had Tamiya's G already. Should be ready to go soon.

hey, just got back from hockey practice and now i think im gonna tackle that jagdpanther (early) from dml. So far i've taken it out of the box and have been admiring the sprues and what not. My main question is that it gives 2 choices for that rectangular thing behind the saukopf manlet, one that looks like cast and another one that has bolts or rivets in it. I want to make a jagdpanther that took part in the Ardennes campaign and was wondering which manlet shield to use. thanks for readin this post

Wildwilliam, I'm with you on aftermarket parts, they can really add up. That's why I'm watching what I buy. If I had bought the Dragon Late A, I at least could have saved on tracks.

Unfortunately I'll be dropping out of the group build...The tank I ordered is back ordered and realistically wont be in until Mid-November....Plus I have so many other builds going on...I want to take my time with my first tank...So Im officially dropping out. I do however promise once I get the tank in and get it build plenty of pictures will be posted. Again thanks to everyone for thier help....and suggestions. Sorry I couldnt participate I just feel its bitting off more than I can chew at present.

well, i broke down and ordered the Tamiya links.
but that's IT, do you hear me !?!?!
no more AM stuff!
i only paid $32.49 (including shipping) for the Panther G (w/ PE Zim)
(knock eBay all you want guys, it leaves more kits for me!!)
now i have a $7.60 Grille set, $9 barrel and $17 worth of track links.
so that's $33.60 of goodies !
any savings i enjoyed on the kit ($68 list, $54 at greatmodels) is now spent.

that's why armor is the 'Dark Side'

Tigerman i havnt built italeris jagdpanther but ive had there Ausf A panther and bergpanther wasnt impressed with there panther A, but you cant go wrong with the Tamiya Jagdpanther

Yes Chris. I have sent checks to www.greatmodels.com . After you're finished filling your cart, they print you a receipt which you mail in with your check. They might do money orders too. It took me about 12 days to get it. That's probably where I'll get the rest of what I need. Good luck.

Yeah i have tons of pics. I only took 190 last week though

I have to go back for specific items though because there were so many items there that i could only get the 190 pics that i did. I wanted more time with the brumbar, hetzer, marder, and nashorn but the friend i was with was getting antsy and wanted to head home.

I have great pics of some russian stuff too, and the leopold (of course) Anzio Annie.

I''m glad you liked the pic, just so happens one of their panthers had that cast seam on it :)
