mucker: Thanks...it was no sweat on the silvering fix either...just a pinch of black oil wash and a dampened brush!

Jeaton01: thanks for looking, glad you like it!

Townsy11: I'll be grabbing my badge...OK?

Head over to the OIF/ODS GB thread...there's an M113A2 just about finished. Wink [;)]

You could also look in the Corsair GB - also almost done. Whistling [:-^]

Then, of course, there's the Mud Movers GB. Shock [:O]

And that KT I'm "wrapping up"* for Panzer Aces. Thumbs Up [tup]

*Wrapping up being a very subjective term in this case...been "wrapping up" for almost 8 months now. Heh. My first shelf queen ever.

OK 50% Armor, 50% AC (a Corsair works in your favor too)...I'll let it slide.  I will go check those out soon, thanks for the info!

I have to stay on my Flakvierling...I don't want it to become a shelf queen.

DUDES!  Thanks, but it's just the workbench lights playing tricks!

it is Alclad, but its my first time, and in reality, it kind looks like a first time :)

it is OK, but I have seen better on these forums Big Smile [:D]

I did find that using micro-whatsitsname 6000 grit sandpaper helped with the overall finish.

I painted the thing like 3 times. Somehow I managed to use a whole bottle of paint. hmm. maybe most of it went into the air!

thanks anyhow, for the kind words!

LOL,  I have, like...

3 lights on a strip at the back, a light on the right in a garage style light reflector, a lamp on the left, and the light in the magnifier. plus the room light fixture. so thats 7 light sources!!

need every one of them too!

I used a lot of Alclad and SNJ at first, until I learned to apply a thin layer and then wait a bit.  Also, if you are buffing with powders very little of the paint is needed as the powders provide lots of opacity.

Good looking rep of the evil empire, by the way.  Always liked the look of it.

bspeed, I don't know anything about aircraft models (model kits with wings?!), but that is one flat impressive build. Seriously, you're making me think about starting to build aircraft models.

wait...

OK, the moment has passed. Think I'll start work on a flakpanzer or something. But still, I'm seriously lovin this build!

Beautiful T-55!!!!! Nice and oil-washy! In my completely unqualified opinion, there are two tanks that look nice in this kind of finish: A T-54/55, and an early Panzer III. You've nailed it.

In related news, my T-62A with all the trimmings (except tracks, which I'm going to try and order today) arrived in the mail on the day of Hurricane Ike (see my post in Armor about getting back to the bench after the storm). I was able to get alot done on the night of the hurricane - can't think of anything else to do during bad weather. Will be posting progress pics at Panzer Pantry later this week.

Thanks man!, I liked the T-55 after seeing an awesome build at Nationals in Anaheim, it had this color scheme too...

Looking forward to seeing that T-62A!

Hi Townsy,

I'd like to join the GB with my Airfix 1/72 U-2C, to be modelled after Gary Powers' aircraft.  I started it well after the start date for the GB but didnt' know about the GB until just now.  I haven't laid down any paint on the airframe yet, which is still in the early stages (mostly dry-fitting)--will this be an acceptable entry? Seems like the *exemplar* cold war aircraft to me--it'd be a real shame to leave it out.

Please let me know.

My T-62. Tamiya kit with a resin turret from MB Models, and main gun & fuel panniers from AEF Designs. Not the best pics, I know. But I've got some touch-ups (and completions) to do still, so once I get all that done I'll concentrate on better pics. Cool [8D]

I'll post a pic or two in the Armor forum, and of course at Panzer Pantry:

Dang Thurston, looks good to me! Awfully nice for that old kit. Thumbs Up [tup]

Man, I was torn at AMPSEast whether or not to drop the cash for that one or wait for the Trumpeter...decided to wait. Hope that it doesn't end up costing $60 or something. Meh.

Hey Guys,

Sorry I havn't been on the site much lately, family stuff and school has really been eating up alot of time, although most of that's resolved so I will try and get onto the site more often. Sadly, progress on just about all of my builds has stopped totally so I hope to get back into production on them soon too. I will be updating the list momentarily..
