I'm sure Guy is right...I was just wondering why DML included all of the decals for the plates with the kit (I have the same boxing and pored over the instructions...sure enough, no mention of them?). If you DO decide to apply them, they give you the separate number-jungle so that you can make your own numbers - just be sure to get the right number of digits.

BOYD - can't wait to see the aforementioned /4. What's the ETA on the box-opening?

Fupes Big Smile [:D], ive seen an awfull lot of period pics that show the lack of rear No. plates. They have the fronts but not the rears. My theory (Are you waiting for this) is that the front was probably painted on and would always be there and the rear was on a plate which was probably beaten off a lot. Whats funny about the phrase 'beaten off a lot'????

Thanks Boyd.  I can answer those now... Dunno, Dunno and Dunno!Whistling [:-^]

Nahhh.  I'll answer the best I can when you're ready. Big Smile [:D]

And Dupes... l looked a bunch of books on the 251 ansd Like Guy said... many without at both ends.  But I did find a pic of a couple from the Herman Coring Div. and while it was not of ther one I did they seemed have the plates.  So what do I do... make up a number since I odn't know whatit was for this vehicle.  (Don't tell the AMPS guysShock [:O])

Awesome, Marc.... Simply awesome.  When I get crackin' on my /4, expect a regular litany of questions: 'how did you....?', 'When did you....?', 'Why did you ...?' Blush [:I]

Marc that is simply awesome. I love it. Hope you didnt mind me mentioning the 2 things but you've sorted them admirably. It all looks spot on.

Dang. That's definitely the pic I'll use for the end-of-GB photo roundup. All the fixes are good, especially those mudflaps. What, no license plates? Tongue [:P]

Thnaks Don.  As far as adding a crew... maybe some day when I learn how to do figures so they look good.  I think a poorly done figure makes a model look bad so I don't want to put a bunch of guys with their eyes popping out like they just ate a piece of the sun.

I am done. Here is my SdKfz 251/17 Flak 38.  I used kit declas to represnet a vehicle in East Prussia, 194.

Impressive build Wing_nut!  Excellent finish and weathering; very realistic.  The little things like the chain, padlock, the slings and the variation in finish on the rifles really stand out.  Bravo!  Been unsuccessful in finding 42 lpi at the LHS for a while now.  Stuff comes in real handy, doesn't it?  You've modeled it all buttoned up; any intention of adding a crew?

As the first to complete, you've set the bar pretty high for the rest of us.

I lost my halftrack? Go figure. I guess it will turn back up huh?

Great work again Marc. Didn't e-mail him a recipe for it. Better to let him wonder a bit. I Did e-mail him some country music songs.  Figure gotta have those Harry Potter / Oliver type fellows get some hoe down honky tonkin spirit in em!  Sent him some Alabama but I probably should have sent some Soggy Bottom Boy's ," I'm a Man of Constant Sorrow"  the way my build is going?

Do you think Tamiya Dark Yellow would work with the added white and sand/beige?...can't see why not, can you?

Thanks Steve, I appreciate the very kind words.  The paint is MM enamel dk yellow lightened with a lot of white and some sand biege thrown in there too.  There is a pic of the base color nice and clean about 2/3 the way down on page 29.

And i LOVE Chucky Monkey Tongue [:P]

wing_nutWOW!!!  You turned vanilla to Chunky Monkey!!!....truly exceptional model building.  All of the photos show exceptional talent but my jaw dropped Shock [:O] when I saw those last two shots. The interior is fantastic and the chipping around the jerrycans and rear of this baby is a work of art my friend.  You have raised the bar in the "moderate weathering" camp.  I would give you constructive criticism if I could, but I can't find a flaw...Bow [bow]

I've been debating which paint scheme to use on my Stuka Zu Fuss, but I think you sealed it for me with this one...monotone it is!  So I don't have to scroll back a bunch, please give me your base paint color/mfr and any alterations you made to it if you would. Thanks Marc.

Dupes- None on the 3view on the instrcution sheet... unless I missed them. I though it seemed wierd too.

Guy-ABSOLUTELY PICK Funnythat's the 2 thing you mentioned.  I reaized last night thatthe exhaust needed to be rusted up a bit.  And I was gonna post the question about the mud flaps. Metal? Rubber? either way, painted that base color?

Sfc if you are emailing sweet potato pie recipes don't forget me Big Smile [:D]

Thanks Scott  Killer works for meLaugh [(-D]

wing_nut  WOW, your flak 38 is beautiful.  I love the way you got the colors to turn out.  THe simple dunkelgab is amazing.  What, really stands out to is the weathering on the rear of the vehicle.  The jerry cans really stand out.

Keep up the great work.

Everyone elses work is looking good to.  My /22 is now on the bench.  This one will be OOB.  I know, I know, no massive amount of PE work this time.  But wiht a Cyber-hobby kit I don't need to.

WingNut! If you can do that with one arm tied behind your back I am pretty hopeless. It did inspire me to put mine back on the table today. Paint scheme really looks the part. Did you say you were thinking about adding a crew? Big Smile [:D]

Marc, thats awesome mate. As Dupes said, youve made the monotone paint job jump out at you. Very nice indeed.

2 things, and i really hate picking out any imperfections with others work. 1stly the exhaust silencer would probably be a bit rusty ish, the connecting pipe to the manifold deffo would. Unless its modelled as a brand new replacement part. If so, hush my mouth.

2ndly the mudflaps would be rubber. The ones at bovington were anyhoo and they were black. Ive got the same PE mudflaps and i wasnt goingt to use them as i reckoned they were a bit on the anorexic side Big Smile [:D]

Doesnt take away from the fac this is an excellent build and i hope mine turns out half as good.

Marc - great finish! Did a fine job making a monotone scheme look good. Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup] Question for you. Did that particular vehicle not carry any of the bumper codes (you know, the license plate thingies on the back)?

Josh - don't worry...Wingnut is always a tough act to follow. You'll do just fine!

Bish - no problem man. I remember what it was like in the army trying to get time to do anything. Post some pics when you can. Looking forward to them! Stay safe! Smile [:)]

Well, unfortunatly, i ain't in the US Army. The nearest we get is a cold shower and large woman you deffinatly wouldn't want to see in a bikini Big Smile [:D]

Ah but in only a few short weeks those large women tend to look better.....

Really makes you appreciate home that much more! I am still impressed that the Challenger 2 Main Battle tank has it's own tea maker in the turrent.  That is first class stuff!

You must mean the BV, or Boiling Vessel. All Brit AFV's have one. Also used for cooking your meals. Don't US AFV's have these. My Warrior never went anywhere without it.

dupe- many apologies. I did take some pics last week but the internet suit on camp was closed Wed night. This is my first time online since getting here as we have ben very busy. But the good news is the terminals have USB ports so i will try to load my pics onto photobucket when i can then get them on the site. We only get 30 mins a time so i might have to do it in two stages.

I managed to get the gren painted and the putty removed ok and was pleased with the results. I will try to check in when i can and see how you guys arte al doing.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
