Thanks for the compliments, fellas.  Yeah - I've always known in my heart that the P-51H would look stellar in green.  It was nice to test the theory. 

Too bad not to see the 229 completed, but that's OK.  I always thought that was a great looking aircraft.  I hope that things simplify for you in the future.

IL2 -- the P-51H in service colors looks absolutely sensational! Now she looks and feels more like a 'real' Mustang, instead of the 'slightly-melted Salvador Dali vision' of a Mustang -- in which things aren't quite where they should be... Fantastic build using a less-than-freindly medium, and a beautiful final result.

Red 13 Bar, I'm sorry to have missed out on this GB, it's my first one to not finish so far. I had the Ho 229 flown in specially for it from the States but with everything happening in my life there was just no bench time for this project. I'll move it into an 'unfinished' category in my GB Tally entry.

There has been some wonderful craftsmanship here, and some great sharing of information -- thankyou again for the chance to be involved.

Well the P-51H is done.  Just like the real plane, it was built just in time to see the war end, my build sneaks into the GB with mere hours before the deadline expires.  Thanks Red-13-bar, I'm glad i joined your group build.

Sweet build, Jeaton!  That's one odd-ball looking bird: it reminds me of an X-Wing.   I think I'll go look up the performance specs on it because I'm quite curious.  Nice OD finish.

Resin kits are another thing altogether, aren't they?  This one's has been quite the learning experience. for me. They seem to be more of a sculpting exercise than a model-assembly process.  Fortunately for me, I'm well past that stage with my build.  I'm just putting the finishing touches on my ETO P-51H.  I have still to finish the prop assembly and the drop tanks.  Last night I weathered the model, but it's not shown in the photos.

By the way, two of those kill marks are from shooting down anteaters!

Sorry about not posting progressive photos on this one, but with resin kits like this one there just are not a lot of parts and steps to show.  It seems like the battles are not that interesting to show, like filling pinholes and fixing the usual warps.  This was not a bad kit as resin kits go, though I wish they had done better on the wheels.  Fit was not so bad at all, but some work was needed to fit the fins on the wing tips, and the fit of the canopy was kind of a blank slate.

guardsmen: If you don't think that you can finish the XB-35 for this GB, you should venture on over to the Endgame 1946 GB. It would be a welcome addition there.

Sheesh - I never learn....

Spent a week just going over-and-over ever inch of this thing.  Obsessing about small minutia, primer, sand, repeat.  Ultimately, I took out about every blemish that annoyed me, but admitted could not remove everything..  But's that's OK, because this build for me is all about fun and learning a few new techniques.

Ultimately, I gave it a primer top coat, and now I have the start of invasion stripes.  For years I've wanted to test how this would look on a P-51H, and I like it so far!  Now I'm trying to choose between olive drab and med-green for the upper paint color.

Well, my 1/72 Dragon Do-335B-4 is now complete. For being a difficult kit, I am really happy with the way it turned out. Here is my contribution for this GB:

Hey everyone been a while.  Anyway about a week ago I looked in my stash and found my half finished Arrow, and I hate unfinished kits so I took the time to try and least finish it and make it decent and let me tell you its still the worst kit I have ever built but at least now it doesn't like a total piece of .  So here it is:

Despite overwhelming progress by the axis in this GB, the allies' new weapon has taken one big step closer to the battle!

Inital primer just went on, revealing multiple blemish areas to rework.  Those should't take long, then it's on to the paint booth.  You can't fight an airwar unless you've got a snazzy paint scheme, dontcha know.

Boy it has been quiet here lately. I recieved my replacement Squadron canopy from Great Models a couple of weeks ago and have made some progress. All the decals are on and I am now ready to start weathering. Even though this was a more difficult build and it is definitely no show winner, I am really liking how the Pfeil is turning out. I want to get the other Dragon Arrows now and build them using what I have learned. Here are some progress pics:

Red13Bar If possible i would like to change my entry for this build. MY triebflugel needs alot of work, especially on the cockpit, which is totally bare. And at the moment i really don't have the time or resources to do it justice. If its ok with you i would like to sawp it for a kit i just got while away, one of many.

 Its a resin Allianace Models 1/72 Me P1100B schnellbomber. Its alot more detailed especially in the cockpit. It will be my first complete resin kit, haveing only done resin figures and AM parts before. If this is ok with you i will post some pics and start soon as i am going to break my golden rule and build 2 kits at same time to catch up on my GB's.

That ramjet version is cool Red. I personally like the HG III and the BMW 003 versions though the ramjet ones are cool too. I don't think I will be able to do the Me-262 zerstorer I wanted to do for this GB because of a lack of funds right now but I wanted to use their HG III kit for it. My plans were to get either the 1/48 Dragon B model (the two seat trainer or night fighter)or convert the 1/48 Tamiya to a B model using I think a Czech Masters conversion and but the HG III conversion on it with the sweet new engine nacelles, swept wings, and the V-tail. Then lenghten the nose a little to house an intercept radar and take out the four 30mm Mk-108's and put in two 1/35 M-134 miniguns I have lying around and say they are 20mm's. Then finish it off with some X-4's below the wings and finish it in either a NMF or a green/brown splinter-like camo. I just don't think I will be able to get all the parts for it and finish it by the May end date or even by fall.

I pulled a little stupid mistake on my Do-335. I used liquid mask on the canopy works quit well until you spray the gloss coat over it. The liquid mask becomes rock hard and you literally have to chip it off. Needless to say, I scratched the crap out of the canopy and now have to order a Squadron Vacuform one. Not a major setback, but it was going along so well after all the fit problems. But hey, it is only $2 and I get two because it is for the A-12 two-seat version. And I am very tempted to buy the other Dragon Do-335's even after the issues I have found because they make the A-1, B-2, B-6, and the A-12 without having to convert the better Tamiya kit.

My next entry may be a 262.  I don't know if you've seen the Antares ramjet conversions for the 262's, as that is what I will most likely install on it.  go to their website and check them out.  Pretty weird (almost scary, but really neat) stuff...

The lighter grey is Gull Grey and the darker is Navy Aggressor Grey.

Ahh, there we go, looks good.  What colors you use intermediate blue and aircraft grey or something like that?

Alright folks. Here are the photos I promised. I have the camo pretty much done. Just need to touch it up in some places.

Looks like you are making some great progress IL2. And you are right, that Miles plane does look sweet!

Just a little update from me. I just applied some primer on my Do-335. After spending so much time filling seams and other annoying things, it is nearing completion. And what a pain the seam filling was! I had to use so much putty and it kept cracking on me. Stupid Dragon kit. After building some of their other stuff, I would have thought this kit would have been at least ok. It just stinks. Oh well. I will see it throught to the end. I hope to have the base color on tomorrow and hope to post some more pics soon.
