Oh, sorry about the rank, Arty. Thought you were an Oscar Five already for some reason. So I was just refering to the generic "colonel" as opposed to Lt. Colonel. A few more years. O.K., Major. Won't make that mistake again.

what color did you use for paint Bradley?

It is painted with Testors Model Master Enamel Sand, FS#33531, Testors #1706.  It is an exact out of the bottle match for modern CARC (Chemical Agent Resistent Coating) paint.  Once weathered, it looks just like the ones in the motorpool.

Gino, can you go into a little detail about your weathering techniques? I'm currently doing an M1A1 OIF and just can't seem to get the right look with the techniques I'm using.

And I take it your customer has already received his piece. Was he as blown away as the rest of us? Excellent work!

Edited to say that I didn't edit the post correctly so I just bolded it. Sorry for any confusion.

Gald you like it.  Customer liked it too.  For weathering, I gave the whole thing a pin wash of a dark grey-brown color that I mixed together.  I then drybrushed with the original sand color to tone it down and blend it in.  Next, I drybrushed with Testor MM Armor sand, some browns, and a light coat of medium grey.  Lastly, I hit all the areas where I want a bare metal effect with a #2 pencil, just draw directly onto the model.  Hope that helps.  Good luck on your Abrams.

Gino, this is a great dio!  I love the figures, though one observation, I don't kow if you can do anything about it other than just accept it for what it is, but the guy close to the wall, reloading, it looks a little unnatural the way he's holding the weapon.  I know figures are a pain in the butt.  The whole concept is great!  Congrats on a good dio!  BTW, the torsos, how does someone get ahold of them?  I'd be interested in them as I'm going to do an OIF LAV 25 sometime.  Let me know if I can get you to cast a few for me!!  Again, looks great!  Oh wait, the road, how did you make the road, I'm sure I missed it down the line, but I need to know your secret on the road, I've tried drywall and it never worked...

..the torsos, how does someone get ahold of them?...Let me know if I can get you to cast a few for me!!

Send me an email on the torsos and I'm sure we can work something out.

Oh wait, the road, how did you make the road, I'm sure I missed it down the line, but I need to know your secret on the road, I've tried drywall and it never worked...

For the road, I used Spackling Compound (drywall patch plaster).  I spread it on thinly then smoothed it out with a putty knife.  Once it sets a bit, but not completely dry, I smooth it out further with some water and my fingers.  Just rub it around and you will get a watery paste on the top and it will all smooth out.  Fnally, once completey dry, I sand it with some 200 grit sand paper to smooth it fully.  Then it is ready for paint.  The sidewalk and wall are done the same way, with the lines scribed in after it is dry.

HeavyArty, Very well done. The Camelback hydration system on Cptn directing the scene is awsome!(crossover knowlage from MTN biking) The only thing is the power pole. It is far too short for the scale. As well the wires need to look as it they were heavier. When I get going on a few armor projects I will welcome your comments.

Thanks for the comments.  I like the Camelbak as well.  The power pole is actually correct.  It is about 12' tall.  In Iraq they are shorter than what we are used to in the states.  Guess they didn't follow safety codes like we do.  Saw many things that were just "not right" over there.
