Looks pretty good so far,Ilike the dusty, faded look, any self respecting sherman will have lots of stowage, looking foward to the finish.

P.S

Someday I would like to convert one of these to Odball's tank,I have the figures in my stash.

Like the fading.  Did you use different shades of the same green or is there a reddish brown thinly sprayed in there?  Nice effect and would like to know what you did!

Thanks. The fading of the national insignias was just misting Model Master ANA Dark Earth ( RAF color) over the stars with the airbrush so that they were not 'shiny and new" . I also used MM rust airbrushed at a fine setting for the marks and highlighted with medium grey pastels. The machine gun barrels were painted flat black and then polished with graphite on a cotton swab.

Nice job so far.  One thing to note: the tracks you have on this are the T-48s which were mostly rubber -- does that change how you want to finish them?    They look fine as is but know that they weren't all metal tracks.

Nice build. I like the subtle weathering which is also how I weather my models. The Tamiya Sherman although quite old is still a pleasure to make.

Hi Claudez,

The overall finish is great - I love the subtle weathering. Thumbs Up [tup]

Please don't take this as a criticism, but the legs of the headlight brush guards and lifting rings could use a little attention, as the mounting holes are quite apparent. A few applications of Mr Surfacer or Tamiya Liquid Surface Primer applied with the point of a toothpick will do the trick.

Phil_H   Thank you for your astute criticism. I hadn't noticed, but now that you mentioned it , it is painfully obvious that they aren't seated correctly. I haven't used Mr Surfacer yet.. not sure if it can still be found in the States. When I start loading up the tank with stowage items, tracks, bogies, crates, wood, etc  hopefully some of this will be obscured. I may go back and try a little liquid cement and a stiff short bristle brush to eliminate the marks. Thanks for noticing.. Its the only way our skills can improve.

  1. Model Man  Very nice.. what color did you use for the overall? I especially like the subtle weathering of the hull.

Hi Claudez,

It's uncanny the way the camera can pick up something that the Mk.1 eyeball can miss. Many a time I've taken photos, only to find a gap or mould-line in plain sight that I've somehow missed. I'm sure you'll find a suitable solution. Mounting strategically placed stowage was another thought that I had considered and I thought that you may also have plans to do the same. Smile [:)]

I used tamiya olive green with some dark yellow and white added. I mixed it until I liked the shade. I sprayed it overall with thinned mars black oil paint in these photos. I will post completely finished photos soon. Thanks for the compliment.
